This place is really a budget motel dressed up as a deluxe one. Everything is cheap and second rate. But it’s new, so it’s not tawdry yet. Everyone who works at this hotel is relatively young, so the service is very uneven.Sometimes it’s attentive and professional, sometimes surly and indifferent.
The “Suites” are not “Suites.” They are motel rooms with soviet-style heavy cloth dividers between the bed and the couch. This wasn’t made clear when I booked the motel room. And they didn’t upgrade me, even if such a thing is possible.
There’s no stove – you can ask for a hot plate, again soviet-style. The rooms are very unpleasant: clean but with angular, formica-clad, Ikea-style fixtures. The,effect is cold and stark, like emergency shelter, or at best a college dormitory.
The rooms are rather unpleasant to spend time in, but if you’re exhausted and just sleeping there, I suppose they’re sufficient. They’re hermetically sealed cells, like a meat locker. The windows won’t open even 2 inches, and the constant temperature control stuffs up sinuses. It seems unhealthy to me:
You’ll get no shampoo or conditioner; there are astronaut-type dispensers inthe showers – again, cheap;
There isn’t much quality light in the rooms. The “desk” light was as bright as a night light, the lamps weren’t very good – stark and harsh. There is alarge window with large shades – translucent, and a blackout shade; effective but cold and industrial. (That’s a good analogy – these rooms are like deluxe living quarters in an eastern bloc nuclear plant);
if you need extra soap – or clean towels, sheets, or blankets – you ask. (You’ll need to ask for a lot at this motel);
The lobby is open with plenty of room, but very noisy. If someone speaks on a cell phone across the room, you hear everything far too clearly. It’s very hard to work or concentrate there. I found it hard to even read the paper with only one woman clattering away on her laptop and yapping on her cell phone;
During the day you’re constantly running into maintenance people by the elevators and in the halls. It seems you see nothing but clear plastic garbage bags in plain sight during the day. Outdoor rubbish bins were overflowing by 5pm and weren’t emptied. For a $70 hotel, that’s okay – not for one 3 times the price like this one;
The internet service is very clear and uninterrupted, about the best you can get in a hotel especially;
the overall experience seemed to simulate an experiment in human living conditions processing. I felt like a subject in a clinical research study rather than a guest in a hotel.
I checked in late on a Saturday and my “suite” wasn’t ready. I requested a quietroom over one week earlier, so they installed me directly opposite the elevator and a crashing ice machine. I couldn’t get another room. I had to complain several times about the noise after 10. They eventually remedied it, but by then I was awake for another hour. The rooms are well insulated, but the heavy doors boom and shake the walls, so your sleep might still be disturbed.
Housekeeping is relatively nonexistent. I believe if you want some sort of housekeeping, you call a number and schedule something, and there’s a different schedule for weekends. I prefer just having my room cleaned. They also have the modern “policy” of earth friendly service. That means they don’t change your bedlinens and towels to “save the earth.” Of course, this saves them the bother of changing and washing sheets and towels. In all fairness, most motels do this today.
I’ll never stay here again, in fact I’ve lost faith in all Hilton operations. I’ll content myself with a cheap hotel next time, since that’s all this is. If I need a suite, I’ll rent 2 rooms in a Motel 6 – I’ll get the same service and it’ll be cheaper.
If this deluxe dormitory idea is a “model” for a new age generation X or Y motel, then the idea needs rethinking. I’d certainly reconsider buying any Hilton stock based...
Read moreI was going to only give 4 stars since there was no warning the on-site bar is only there for “decoration” as stated by the desk clerk. We were directed to walk down to their other hotel and use that hotel’s bar. This was not convenient in our opinion & we expected this amenity to be available on-site as stated on their website. The rooms are nice, good pillows (although we always bring our own), and the mattress was okay. The towel hooks in the bathroom are falling off the wall, so maintenance definitely needs to address that. The carpets in the hallways need a good cleaning or many of the blocks replaced. The elevators need a good cleaning also. Breakfast is typical hotel breakfast, nothing great, but not terrible. We made use of the bar “decoration” for breakfast both days we were there and noticed on both days the bar stools were never moved to sweep the floor below, which is covered in crumbs from previous guests, so that needs addressed. We were going to purchase drinks from the pantry, but noted the drinks were very expired. The provided outside grills are the most disgustingly, filthy grills we’ve ever laid eyes on. We expect these simple things to be on par when paying for what should be a decent hotel. So while these issues were disappointing, we’ve decided on giving them 5 stars anyway. The staff members are all very nice (albeit they need to address the above issues by taking a little more pride in their work), but even more importantly, very honest. A few hours after checkout, my husband realized he had left his high dollar watch in the room. He called and they let him know they did have it. So while I do feel they should have contacted us beforehand, we were very thankful the staff were honest and had put the watch aside. It is because of the honesty of the hotel staff that we will definitely return when in the area and look forward to seeing the issues above addressed by then. In conclusion, come for the convenient location, not for the on-site bar, come for the great personalities of their staff and most importantly their honesty and not for their ability to sweep the crumbs, clean carpets or repair towel hooks or cleaned grills. Haha, and btw go to Nagoya for great drinks or...
Read moreWe had to extend our stay in the Ohio area due to an unexpected problem with our work tractor which required service at a transmission shop in Perrysburg. We were initially at the Hilton next door for 3 nights and when they didn't have any rooms to extend our stay while our tractor was being repaired due to hosting 3 weddings, I admit I was a bit disappointed at the thought of moving next door. There is a saying that God blesses the broken road and boy did he ever deliver. If my team and I were aware of how WONDERFUL this delightful Hilton property was, we would've stayed here the entire 7 nights. The suites are GINORMOUS and spotless. It is as if we are staying in a mini apartment on the road. The lounge/dining area is relaxing and has a really cool vibe to it... the outdoor fire pit, landscape and Italian lights are spectacular at night... If I didn't know better I would've thought I was sitting on my back deck. This property is in the Town Center at the Levi Commons which is a wonderful shopping center with high end stores, specialty shops and excellent restaurants especially the Blue Pacific Grill where I would eat every single day if I could. The star of this hotel is the front desk host Samantha... talk about a customer service professional... She made sure to provide me with a restaurant guide, talked to me about the amenities at the property, including the future ones and helped me navigate the process of downloading a car service for future business travel. It is clear that she LOVES her job and the endless smiles she emits makes me feel like a welcomed guest every time I see her. Great property Hilton... thank you for providing affordable housing while traveling...
