Our stay at The Estate House, part of the Dwight D hotel, was delightful. Owner Vittoria was communicative from the start, and met us at the property upon our arrival. She was generous with her time and showed us the house from top to bottom. There is some renovation going on to connect this townhouse with the hotel proper, which actually worked well for us as it gave us access to an additional room, where we gathered for morning coffee.
The owners have put a lot into this property and it shows. If you appreciate grand, older homes, this is the place for you. Tall ceilings and windows, deep moldings and creaky wood floors add to the charm. The kitchen is MUCH nicer than mine at home, and was extremely well stocked with many spices, oils, flour/sugar, and on and on.
There was plenty of room for three couples to spread out. Outdoor green space is a precious commodity in the area, and this rear garden is just lovely — very large, shady, and private.
We appreciated the numerous “little touches” that added to the enjoyment of our stay. Temporary dashboard parking passes, two kinds of bottled water in each suite, iPad in each suite with local info highlighted, charcuterie tray and wine waiting for us…
The location is also fantastic — a block or two from Rittenhouse Square, many local cafes and eateries, and more. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to book...
Read moreTook a trip to Philadelphia to visit friends and was really happy we booked The Dwight - really a special place!|It is located on a charming street that is walkable to many parts of the city; parking is nearby.|Check-in was welcoming, super easy and, since it was off season, we got an upgrade to a beautiful suite.|Bed was very comfortable, bathroom state-of-the-art and everything was neat and clean. Lots of closet space if you need it (we didn't), room was spacious as well.|The extra little touches of hand cream, lip balm, and bottled water were all much appreciated.|You can order breakfast (at an additional cost), which we did because the Northeast weather in January can be frigid (it was), so we really appreciated the warm croissant/egg sandwiches and hot coffee delivered right to our room.|Another perk - a fully stocked tea station - absolutely loved it.|The hotel has an enclosed garden and, although the weather precluded use of the outdoor space, it looked like a great spot to spend time outside in warmer times.|Visiting the city where the bedrock our country took root is always nice; staying at The Dwight made it a...
Read moreStaying at the Dwight D was a brilliant experience! Unfortunately, my husband and I got a flat tire on our way into Philly, and Vittoria actually stayed up and waited for our arrival; she truly went above and beyond. Now, I don't recommend getting a flat tire...but this does show you the level of service that the Dwight D offers to people who stay! They care about your needs and your well-being. Vittoria was in contact with me the entire time during our rough experience, and it was wonderful to see a then-stranger caring about us.
Additionally, the hotel itself is just lovely. The architecture of the building is stunning, and our room was decorated beautifully. We loved the shower (it had a rainfall shower head), and I love any place that uses L'Occitane for toiletries (including lip balm)!! The location is great due to its proximity to Walnut Street and Rittenhouse Square, and everything was accessible for the weekend.
I highly recommend staying at the Dwight D. It was one of my more memorable hospitality experiences due to the kindness of the staff (who always greeted you by name) and...
