Disappointed and Won’t Be Returning

This evening my husband and I were craving Greek food and decided to stop by a spot we used to love. I ordered the chicken skewers light meal, and he got the steak skewer dinner plate, which we asked to be cooked medium rare.

While waiting, I stood near the counter playing a game on my phone and overheard a conversation between a younger employee and the older cook. The younger staff member mentioned that it was supposed to be a steak dinner, and the cook, clearly annoyed, tossed the skewers on the grill in frustration. Not exactly confidence-inspiring.

The same young staff member asked if I wanted the boxes separated, and I specifically requested for the cold food to be bagged separately from the hot. Despite that, he packed everything together. I had to reorganize everything at the counter myself before leaving.

Once we got back to our hotel—just a block away—we opened our meals and were immediately disappointed. My salad was far from fresh. The lettuce and vegetables were soggy, and the pita bread was so stale it snapped in half with barely any pressure. My chicken was incredibly dry and tough to chew, and the rice portion was laughable—barely enough to cover the bottom of the container.

As for my husband’s steak? It was completely overcooked, nowhere near medium rare. It was chewy and inedible. We ended up tossing both meals—over $40 wasted—and had to go back out to find something else for dinner.

I don’t know what happened to this place. We used to love this place and always enjoyed the food and portion sizes. Unfortunately, it seems like the quality, care, and value have all disappeared. We order take-out for the office. The food is fairly good. The prices are reasonable for the proportions. However, we consistently have issues with our take-out orders.

Today, I ordered the shrimp special which has a greek salad, potato salad, 10 shrimps on a skewer, yellow rice, and pita. It was good but found the shrimp too salty. I was also disappointed because they forgot the dressing for my salad AND Tzazitki sauce. My co-worker who ordered the same thing got all the trimmings.

On a separate incident, my co-worker ordered a lamb pita. We requested for additional Tzazitki sauce, but did not receive it. A different co-worker also had potato salad which was left out of her order.

With take-out, you are in a rush to pick-up and go. You assume that everything will be in there. You also don't want to hold up the long line by checking every single order your co-workers placed.

On June 12, 2013 I decided to have lunch here because I had been here one other time and it was ok. However, lunch this day was not good. I order my food for dine-in, I ordered the special, paid, got my number and sat down. Store was very busy with lunch rush. 20 minutes later I see a group of ladies that came in 10 minutes after me getting served there food. I began seeing others also getting ther food that came in after me. I go to counter and ask a woman (I think the Manager) about my order, she looks at my receipt and said it was because of the fry's??? I am like what??? Really??? So I sit down. She brings me my lunch 4 minutes later that was boxed for a to-go order. Same food- did not offer to replace (Fry's I could not eat - cold), Sandwich was warm - almost room temp but ok.
