There appears to be a 4 donut limitation. My husband who is a strict no oil vegan called on Monday & was told there were vegan donuts on Fridays. He showed up this morning at 6a ready to buy about 8 of them. He rarely makes exceptions to his strict diet & was looking forward to sampling these vegan donuts. To his dismay he was told he could only get 4 of them but he could pre-order if he wanted more. We leave early tomorrow so this option is now unavailable to us. I wish the person who he spoke with on Monday told him this. When I called them later to check on the ingredients (kids are allergic to nuts - vegan donuts are nut free btw), the young man who answered was helpful about the ingredients but not able to comprehend my questions about the 4 donut limit. I'm not sure if he realizes that repeating the 4 donut rule over & over to me did not clarify why no one told us about it before we got there. To their credit, the owner called me on my cell phone to follow up & she took responsibility for not educating her staff to alert customers about the 4 vegan donut limit per customer. This changed my experience from 2 stars to 4 stars so we may return in the future when we come back. We try to support the local places that supply vegan donuts (ie. Ronald's Donuts in Las Vegas & Big O Donuts in SLC) and we respect each establishment's personal rules (ie cash only). We just wish we had known Surfside Donuts' rule of 4 vegan donuts per customer/family unless you pre-order because the donuts were tasty & it would have been nice...
Read moreI wanted to love this place. But I think I went at the wrong time. I travel the world to try donuts. It's a hobby. I have been to over 100 donuts shops in the country. Let's start with pros. Great selection of donuts. Great look to the donuts. The staff was 5 stars. Extremely friendly and helpful. I walked in and wanted to get one of each, but ended up with about 8 to try. The prices of their donuts is also very good. Cons. The staff missed a donut I ordered and paid for in the box, but I can let that slide. The biggest issue was that the donuts were not fresh. They were easily a day old or baked the evening before and put out first thing in the morning. Now I understand that most people would not be able to tell, or think that the donuts tasted great... well they were tasty. They had good flavor, but the cake and dough was dense which made the tasty donuts not enjoyable to me. I prefer fresh, same day donuts, that will melt in your mouth. I suspect that if you go later in the day you might get a fresh batch, but I may also suspect that they make their donuts in the evening, let them sit, refrigerate, then present in the morning and close when they sell out. Then Repeat. If you don't mind this in your donuts, then yes, visit them, they deserve the business for their efforts, but for me, I'll try some of the alternatives in the...
Read moreI visited the shop for the first time last week-end, there where 2 young girls filling orders, they looked new on the job, the gal on the cash register was screeching at one of them about communication, she then looked in the bag with our order and proceeded to dramatically stomp over and pull the donuts out of the bag and refill it all the while the 2 girls looked totally panicked and about to cry. Im still unsure what the big infraction was? All this unnecessary drama was played out in front of about 20 customers. I've been in management for over 30 years and I've got to say I've never seen anyone act so rude and unprofessional to an employee. I'll never go back, no one needs a $5.00 donut that bad!!! I hope the girls walked off the job, and by the way, when the cashier refilled the donut order, she...
