I stayed at the Harborview because of its central location to a family event and charter fishing. The room was fantastic... right for the price. It was a little on the high end of my comfort zone but in the end the convenience made it worth it. ||||Parking could have been an issue. There were two lots and I happened to arrive just as someone was departing. I didn't move my vehicle for two days. Trails run through the parking lot in every direction. The adventure of exploration was so much fun. ||||At check in things went quickly and here are my tips for folks booking rooms. Ask for a room away from the street. Ask for a room with an ice machine on the floor. The left elevator is double the size and is the only on that goes to level 5... so if you have a group or a cart make sure to use the elevator call button for the elevator on the left. My room had a fridge but no microwave. The beds were perfect. There were lots of storage options. The bathroom was nice, clean and well supplied but there was only one towel hanger. One hook... no towel bar... no rack... nothing else but the one just outside the shower. Ice machine was useful as we needed a bag for packing our fish.||||The pool area was fine. The hot tub was small but comfortable temp. Kids enjoyed the larger kidney shaped pool. It's not deep but perfect for the little ones.||||Outside the hotel was a huge variety of opportunities. Our fishing charter was less than a block away from the door. I picked up sandwich fixens at a cool deli just a block north. There was a rib place, coffee shops, bars and more. I needed underwear and Duluth Trading Company set me up with a show and sell like I had never experienced before. The marina and adjacent parks made for excellent eye candy. The boats were fun to browse, and there was a very cool car show just a short walk to the east and there was a street fair just a few blocks in the other direction. Our social event at the Port Washington Yacht Club was a little longer walk but we enjoyed the sights along the way.||||I ate a breakfast and a supper at the restaurant. Both were superb and the location very convenient. I got a 10% off coupon which I used for the King Cut Prime Rib which was the Saturday Night Special... making the meal very affordable considering it was an on-site restaurant.||||I'd give 9 out of 10 stars with deductions for street noise and the minor convenience issues mentioned above. I would definitely return given the opportunity. Hats off to staff and management for running such a...
Read moreOur party of three arrived slightly early for check in and even though the hotel was busy(they were hosting the guests of a large wedding) they complied and let us check in. We were on the third floor, and they had pointed out that while our room did not have a frontal view of the waters, we were situated over the pool/restaurant area and instead had a view of the beautiful nautical houses and an area where the non-boating fishermen gathered. We asked the front desk if they had any information about local places to eat, and they easily gave us a binder filled with restaurant information, as well as reviews, to bring up to our room. Once the elevator brought us to the third floor we were met by two maids whom quickly gave us directions to our room.(again, I imagine because of the large wedding party) The room was very clean and orderly, as was the bathroom which was well lit and spacious. When we turned on the tv, we quickly found a showing of the first "Leathl Weapons" movie on one of the channels, which please everyone. After a while, we went to stretch our legs by walking around the port. It was very convenient to literally step outside the hotel and be at the waters edge. Later, I went down to the pool which was very dated in it's '80's mural and decor, but it was the charm of it all that was partly what drew me to the hotel in the first place. The swimming facilities were very nice, and where perfect to go to before supper, which was in the hotel's restaurant. We went to supper somewhat early and as such were only one of a few guests down there at the time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating for those of us with food allergies(we had two people with onion allergies), and the buffalo chicken sandwich with blue cheese dressing I ordered was delicious. At the time of our stay the card reader was on the Fritz, so we had to put the meal on the room bill. Our waitress was very apologetic. Overall, I had a pleasant experience in this hotel, and I would recommend or to anyone on their trip...
Read moreWe were greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival. The front desk attendant explained everything regarding the restaurant attached for breakfast. The common areas were all clean. In the lobby they have an area to purchase food, beverages, and merchandise. There is parking on the east and west side of the building. Both lots are very busy, however the lot to the west of the building is specifically for the hotel. When we were there, on Friday night they had the patio bar open with love music and was enjoyable. The bartender was working really hard to ensure everyone was being served quickly and he had a great sense of humor. The room was well appointed, with a microwave and fridge and a very comfortable bed. The room had a lot of charging options near the bed and desk. There were multiple night lights built into the charging solutions and bathroom outlet - so no need to turn on a light in the middle of the night to use the bathroom... (The night lights can be rather bright throughout the entire room, so if you require complete darkness, it may pose a slight adjustment.). The bed was super comfortable and had great pillows. Housekeeping, does not start until mid-morning, so if you like to sleep in, it is appreciated, so they are not hanging around while trying to sleep. The location of the hotel is close to a lot of walking paths and Lake Michigan fishing. There are 2 local coffee joints, 1/2 a block and 1.5 blocks away. There are several bars and restaurants for plenty of options. I look forward to our...
