Port Washington Breakwater Light — Attraction in Wisconsin

Bring waterproof footwear. We went at the beginning of December. Earlier in the day there were gale force winds. They had died down by the time we arrived but with a mild breeze, the waves still splashed up and washed over our feet and ankles. Even so, the walk out & the view was worth it. We enjoyed our stay at the Breakwater. Great location in Port Washington. You’re right downtown and within walking distance to the lake, restaurants, shopping and brewery. The breakfast the next day in the hotel was very good. We definitely could have ordered one meal and shared. You do have to be patience, like many places they are short staff. Nice 1/2 mile walk on the Army Corp of Engineers breakwater out to the 1938 Port Washington light tower. On windy days expect to get wet from the waves breaking on the structure. Well worth the visit. Nearby is a bluff park overlooking the breakwater and Port Washington Marina. Plenty of restaurants in the area.
