Today was my second visit to the Port location. We arrived at about 4 pm, and other than a couple that were leaving, had the place to ourselves. The young lady at the register never said hello or greeted us when ordering, but greeted people who walked in after us who were picking up food. I ordered the BBQ sampler, which consisted of 3 choices of meats. I chose Pork, Brisket, and Chicken. The price for this was $18.99 just for the meat. To make it meal I had to pay an extra $3, which consisted of a side and a drink. The side I chose was Mac & Cheese. On my first visit a year earlier I orded the St.Louis Ribs, and was suprised to see the meat placed in a deep fryer, and when I tried the ribs, they were quite tough. This visit was no different. When I think of BBQ I don't think of my meat being placed in a deep fryer, and then being served to me. The Mac & Cheese was okay, however as I finished the pork and chicken I had to drain the oil in the bottom of the dish from deep frying it because it was swimming in it. The meat was alright when it was dipped in the sauce. I was suprised to see that my platter did not come with a bun, or texas toast, or cornbread, something to compliment the meal with. As we were eating, I observed all 3 employees walk out from behind the prep area, and sit at a table, talking, looking at cell phones, and enjoying themselves. The best thing about Yummy Bones in my opinion are the sauces. I tried traditional, spicy, and peach. All 3 were very good. I really love good BBQ, and was really trying to give Yummy Bones the benefit, but I just don't understand the concept of deep frying the meat. Unless they change that practice, I probably will find alternatives to...
Read moreHello all. Walked in and it smells nice. Clean tables and nice atmosphere and music. Ordere one beef brisket sandwich for 13 dollaras by itself! I thought it must be great at this price point. Also purchased macaroni and cheese topped with brisket as a meal. This comes with fries and a drink. The French fries were great!
Meal delivered in a timely matter. Sadly the beef brisket meat in the sandwich was dry. Dry enough I had to drink soda to help chew and swallow it down. As a plus note the bun it was served on was good. The person I was with also stated the beef brisket was dry.
Brisket on our macaroni and cheese was also dry. Macaroni and cheese is, well, try it and come to your own conclusions. To each thier own.
Please do not get me wrong here. I am not saying the beef brisket was beef jerkey in consistency but just not what a person expects for the money paid here imho. The beef brisket did have a nice smokey flavor to be honest.
I believe this establishment can do much better to have a superior product. Maybe we had inferiorly made food when we was there? That is always a possibility.
This was just two people's experience with the food they ordered and experienced in Yummy Bones restaurant that day. I hope others have a better foodie experience at this...
Read moreStarted off a little bit “sketch.” GPS said we arrived ... to a dark parking lot of an apartment building. Restaurant is located in the bottom corner .. but after you walk in it’s actually cozy and quite adorable with the cutest little decorations. At 7pm we were the only customers so we didn’t have to wait for our food at all. The gentleman working the cash register was very pleasant. He didn’t even break his smile after I changed my entire order last minute. $33 for two people. Not bad at all for the quality of the food. He even figured out how to get us the cheapest possible price by altering our order to save us $5. BBQ sauce is cold (only downfall) but you can choose any flavors you like. I mixed the buffalo and the spicy BBQ and it was AMAZING. There’s a sign that says pick up order here but the gentleman working the register delivered our meal to the table, came back to check on us a few moments later, and then came from behind the counter as we were leaving to personally thank us for stopping in. Definitely a...
