My husband and I found ourselves in a dire but needed situation. We picked up and left everything behind in Lou, leaving with nothing but a few things in our car. We headed towards the closest Military town we could find. My husband suffers from PTSD and lots of medical conditions. I reached out to the Red Cross and was directed to the VFW in Vine Grove for help. Commander Dusty Rhodes (yes just like the wrestler!) From there one phone call was made, he didn’t even hesitate to help us. Bought us a meal of some of the finest food, then came out and told us he was sending us to a very good place that understood veterans. They were very good people and good friends of his. Dusty wrote a check for $365 and Super 8 gave us 10 days stay. When we arrived at the super 8 hotel we were greeted by a young gentleman named Neal. He booked us in and said that if we needed anything to please give him a call, if we had any questions about the area, or if he could help with anything to let him know. As those 10 days were coming to an end my wife reached out to Shirley’s way beings she is a breast cancer survivor. We were awaiting an assistants check from them until I had filed for my husband to get assistance of any kind, and surprisingly were helpful and very generous and ended up getting us a beautiful home in Vine Grove. But during this waiting process it was a day to day struggle. With my husbands health and PTSD some days were worse than others. One of them days he was having a bad morning therefore I was too and I was needing towels so I could just take a hot shower and relax. I went to the front desk and Ms. Patel (Neal’s mother) was at the front desk. I asked her if I could get some towels and she looked at me with a smile and said yes of course and led me to the laundry room. At times on my husbands bad mornings he is very loud and vocal, the staff hears him but he doesn’t care. With that being said..she handed me the towels with a smile and told me everything would be ok and to have a good morning! That may not sound like a lot to others, but that meant a lot to me, it let me know that they were very understanding and helpful people. Morning times they would always greet my husband and offer him breakfast and coffee. It was like they knew how to help with veterans PTSD and other problems they may have. My husband who is very forgetful dropped his wallet in the hallway, we had left to handle some business at the VA. When we returned the front desk had it and Neal gave it to us. Everything we had was in that wallet but not a thing was touched. Long story short, the day we moved from the hotel to our beautiful home, Neal and a few others helped organize and physically move us for 2 days! We even had a time where we didn’t have our payment and they let us stay for six days until they received it! Not many places would do that. The Patels have helped us in so many ways that could never be explained in just one little message. The town has excepted us and has helped him in dealing with his problems. This hotel will always be our home away...
Read moreSo the lady at desk. Seems like she hates her job or for you to ask for anything. Like more breakfast bc it’s only 730 and ran out stuff u ask if there’s anymore could grab please and kinda rolls eyes and walks away. Upon returning you say thankyou and she ignores you. Also was rude during checkout. Bc I wanted to pay cash. Also She shakes her head on anything you say or ask mind you iv only spoke to her 3 times. And this is what I got. The rooms don’t look to bad. But when I searched for bugs there’s a lot of crumbs and hair and trash behind the tables and under the bed they haven’t been pulled out away from wall sense they got there. Mind you they slide out super easy even the bed. The toilets suck for a guy bc there small and your stuff will touch the water if you just sit down. Idk if sheets have just little stains or if they wasn’t washed. But before I leave a room. I tomorrow everything to make sure it’s washed everyone do the same. The back door u have to pull open with a finger by a whole in the door. Other than these things it’s ok for a quick. Random place to get in and get out. I searched hard for signs of bugs. Not no trace of roach or bedbugs. Really the just need a back pack vacume. To get hard to reach areas. And the cracks of the chair. Other than that A better cleaner on the floor. Toilets and counters. It’s ok. And been cleaned. But like need to wipe the resedue off Maybe little more bleach in the laudry. But. I’m just glade no trace of bugs. I would just this place just in same rank and gold vault in with no pool. Gold vault looks better. But is cleaned the same way. Whitch is crazy bc there was a whole family cleaning the rooms at super 8 So if u plan on going just bring some cleaning wipes or something it’s worth knowing that your bug free bc the Fort Knox in and the others close to. Got bugs if it ain’t one of the hotels by the neighborhood Walmart, this is the only other one I...
Read moreI would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. The Super 8 is nasty and rude, and heres why. My parents came to visit me from WVA and stayed at this establishment on 8/17 - 8/20. The toilet had feces under the rim and the floors were not mopped. Their first night after they showered and walked around the room a bit my mother noticed her feet was nasty. She had to clean her and my dad's feet before getting in bed b/c their feet was black from the dirt on the floor. At first she thought to her self, the floors could have became dirty from unpacking and the feces might have been from my father using the restroom while she unpacked. However, the next day after being out of the room and roomservice attending their daily cleaning we returned to the room untouched except for the floor being swept and the bed maded. My mother left the rag (dirt side up) she used to clean their feet on the tub along with their other used towels and washcloths for room service to pick up when cleaning. All used towels and washcloths were still there in the same place meaning the bathroom was untouched. I spoke to the front desk and requested the room to be cleaned again. The front desk apologized for the situation and had roomservice come back to clean again. The lady returned to clean the room and made it known she was unhappy about having to do so. She was rude and argued with the maintenance man in a foreign language making my elderly parents very uncomfortable. My mother said, "She would never stay there again." Unfortunately, this area has been hit with an outbreak of hepatitis and, establishments have been notified. You would think an etablishment, in hospitality, would treat the customers with more repect and concern for...
