Due to such rave reviews, I had to give this place a try. The male and female owners? welcomed me in to this cozy restaurant, which was empty at peak dinner time which I found odd.
I’ve ordered mix plate to go and they started prepping my plate. Male behind the counter asked me right away if I wanted double meat which I’ve never been asked in a Gyro restaurant, so I’ve found that odd as well, to which I’ve declined.
Female started putting salad/veges onto my plate and then the bed of rice and was putting on some gyro when male bluntly started harshly scolding her with a raised voice as if I wasn’t standing there which was shocking. Even when another customer entered he still was yelling at her in Arabic? as it seemed like he was telling her that she put way too much meat on my plate (which wasn’t much at all) as she initiated on removing portions. And then he continued to yell at her as she went into the kitchen and grabbed tiny portion of grilled chicken he prepped for my plate.
The look on his face as he scolded her was in such a demeaning manner as she looked at me in an embarrassing smile as if she was just trying to cover this up was heartfelt… literally it reminded me of women being treated so trivially and being verbally and physically abused in Middle Eastern countries… yet this was the literal backyard of America’s heartland Kentucky… I walked out of the restaurant feeling sorrow for her in a way that I felt guilty not saying anything nice to her or at least asking the guy like “WTH dude?”
Food was mediocre at best. Rice was the best part as it was buttery goodness, but the chicken was dry and chewy, gyro was gyro. But just that distaste I’ve experienced in this guy abusing either his wife or new employee was just...
Read moreFirst off, friendly owner and service. I ordered what I normally order from their food truck. The chicken shawarma and the greek salad. The food is good, not the best greek food I've had but good. I wish their pita bread was fresh and tasted better. Reminds me of store bought lower quality, its just okay. Same with their baklava. Be consistent with the chicken please, sometimes its good and cooked well and other times its over cooked and tough. Less rice and more chicken. Maybe actually have a greek salad and not just ingredients you can choose from like at subway. I understand having the option to choose what you want is nice, especially for picky eaters. Either way its good enough for a quick bite and its pretty tasty, but its not like a high quality greek restaurant. Also they need to work on getting all those flies out of their restaurant, by like using flytraps or other ways to keep them out, it makes the food less appealing, not know if the flies have been all over the food.
We frequent their food truck, it was our first time at the restaurant. The food truck sadly seems to have gone down hill some, the chicken is always tough. Will be going to the resturante from now on instead, and hopefully their chicken won't get...
