This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced when purchasing a gift card. I purchased the gift card back in January and when my friends went to use it they told them that it had no balance and they had no record of the card being sold. I took the card back in to get a refund or a new gift card if they couldn't refund since I did not have the receipt but had all the information needed to look in their records. They then tried to take the card from me and say they would call me later to fix it. I took the card with me and when they did call they said they could not refund because it took me too long to bring it to their attention, they would give me a new card with the balance. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience even after they admitted they miss-typed the card number when loading it. I went back for a second time to get the new card and Tok P. who had helped the night before did not make eye contact or speak to me when she walked up, she loaded a new card and then said they could not refund it since I didn’t have a receipt. which is a different answer than I was provided the night before. This was embarrassing for myself and the people I gifted the card to, frustrating for the lack of ownership taken and the additional trips that were required. Once I received the new gift card, I requested two receipts then gave the card and one receipt to a group of people enjoying lunch so that some good came out of this. I will not be returning or recommending anyone to purchase a gift card from them and if you do make sure to ask for two receipts in case they do not load the gift card...

Oishi is a Japanese restaurant in downtown Redmond, OR., specializing in sushi, sashimi and noodles. I have been here many times, and this time I finally remembered to take photos! Although, please forgive the few bites taken pre-photo. Every time I've visited I've dined in, and I've seen both busy and slow; and during either or its always been top quality. Decor inside is very detailed, and by not means tacky. Tables and chairs are roomy and comfy with lots of window seating, as it is a corner location. Service is always impeccable and staffed with friendly artisinal people. Sushi is the only activity on the planet that I dont mind doing by myself, but this time I was lucky enough to have the company of my wife. The menu is quite large, with lots of pictures and descriptions. My wife got the popcorn shrimp ($12) and miso soup ($3). I got the 3 item lunch special (11 am - 3 pm) with pork katsu, spicy tuna roll and vegetable tempura. ($16.95) It comes w/salad, rice and miso soup. As if that wasn't enough, I added on salmon sashimi ($16.95) and crispy tofu ($10). My wife ate some of the tempura, but wouldn't share her popcorn shrimp! Everything was absolutely fresh, presented beautifully and delicious. I would highly recommend Oishi for a first date due to the ambience; as a casual group outing due to the sizeable and transformable dining floor; and as a quick bite for a lunch break due to the variety...

Oishi has continued to be a disappointment.

6 months ago we placed a large order over the phone for pick up. The wait for the food was an hour and a half. Showed up an hour and forty five minutes after placing our phone order and proceeded to wait another hour in their doorway for our food. They never offered anything for the inconvenience. Finally get home to 2 hungry grumpy children an hour past their bedtime to find out they didn't include any ginger, Wasabi or soy sauce. I called to speak with the manager who REFUSED to get on the phone until I made it clear to the poor receptionist that if the manager didn't come to the phone, then I'd gladly come back and speak to her in person. 0 customer service.

Cut to to Friday - decided to give them another chance hoping COVID was their excuse for the awful service. Boy was I wrong! Placed an order over $200 to be delivered by Doordash. Food was sub-par and again NO Wasabi, Ginger or Soy sauce. Got up the next morning to multiple alerts from my bank that Oishi charged my card over 13 times and now having to deal with a giant mess with my account, new cards, fraud investigation, etc.

Do yourself a favor and just drive 20 min past their doors to Shinsei and get amazing sushi with great service for half the...

Updated Review: Tried Oishi again after many years of avoiding it. While it was not as bad as our previous experience, it was below average compared to the many other good options (in Bend). We had 7 rolls this time. None really stood out. A couple were questionable most notably the albacore roll was just a little "off". Gyoza was good. Not worth the $200 for 4 people. Not the best Sushi around Central Oregon. Ordered 3 premium rolls: Oishi, Tiger and Dragon Rolls. Upon ordering the Oishi Roll, the waitress says "very fishy, very fishy, you like fish, is that ok?" I thought she meant fishy in that it had a lot of fish per the description. What she meant to say was it has a very strong fishy flavor, not a lot of fish and some very old, hard sticky salmon roe that nobody had any business eating. We picked them off but it was still hard to eat. The Tiger and Dragon Rolls were mushy and flat. Nothing crisp or refreshing inside to brighten the flavors. All said, with so many other great choices nearby, we probably won't be back.

Maybe I'll change this IF I ever eat in the restaurant. Ordered delivery, took an hour and 15mins to deliver 5 mins down the road, but the after taste I have in my mouth is terrible. I ordered their Oishi Roll - $20 roll (where they advertise for the sushi connoisseur) as you can see from all of my reviews, I eat A LOT of sushi... this was probably the worst roll... I can't believe I spent $40 on two rolls (+ $10 tip) and they taste like the Styrofoam they came in... I'm sorry for the aggressive review, but, not happy at all...
