Stayed at the Residence Inn for several months while our home was getting repaired from a leak. Our insurance claim was paying for our stay and it was a headache!!
Our insurance company had a corporate account with the Residence Inn so you would think there should have been no issues right? Wrong!! I was diligently communicating with both the hotel and my insurance company, but yet if the insurance company had any sort of delays in extending our stay my family and I would get harassed by staff, even in front of other guests!! At times we were made to feel like squatters, being denied access to our room because two major corporations are negotiating payment terms, it was ridiculous!
The hotel was very busy during the weekends, but staffing throughout did not reflect this up-tick in operating needs; so any sort of basic requests for towels or toilet paper, etc would take a while and feel like a hardship to the bare-minimal staff that was there.
Because the hotel is close to the water, there are ALOT of spiders and webs on the property. And it is clear that clearing these webs and spiders are NOT on any kind of tasks list for the staff. During the summer months it was inviting to enjoy their patio area. Only problem was as soon as the sun would go down all the spiders would want to come out and play! Imagine trying to enjoy a summer evening on the patio and be overwhelmed with spiders dropping down to join your party!!!
The rooms are decent but the craftsmanship is cheap! For Example, In the shower there is a little ledge that is made to look like it is for propping your leg on when shaving or washing. The MAJOR problem? It was only bound by calk, no support brackets; of course I found this out the hard way while showering, almost broke my ankle trying to catch my balance. Another example, You can’t open the dishwasher AND the refrigerator at the same time.
The morale among staff is deteriorating because of these trying conditions. During my several months stay here, I’ve seen many leave the company, with bad tastes in their mouths, hard-working, good people.
My advice to management: get back to the basics of putting your staff and the customer experience first or be left to wonder why the hotel next door has full occupancy and staffing levels and your...
Read moreOverall, I enjoyed my stay, but I hated my room. will explain more in detail.
Parking is $9 a night (not terrible in comparison to Seattle).
Breakfast, which had good breakfast sandwiches and unlimited coffee (that was delicious) was a huge plus. the dining/bar area was nice (though the bar never opened during the 4 days I was there) and there is outdoor seating which is great to hang out at in the evening.
Fitness center is small but nice with new equipment (treadmills and elliptical s) and weights and the laundry room was nice as well.
Bring a sound machine or sleep headphones (I travel with mine) bc the walls are thin and you can hear everything...and I mean everything).
Kate at the front desk was wonderful and got me into my room super early. I was put in room 201, which is incredibly far from both sets of elevators (not a problem). The room itself was spacious and spotless, but I was so disappointed to open the windows to see that I had a view of a retaining wall. I had to crank my neck up just to see the trees and no direct sunlight either which sucks since I was there for 4 days.
The biggest problem was that you are up against the retaining wall AND I had a drain near my window there were bugs, spiders, gnats, beetles, moths all over the damn place and while the windows are sealed (you can't open them,) they are able to enter the room through cracks and also where your ac vents out. I woke up every night with bites, bugs and spiders in the bed and even (accidently) stepped on two beetles in the middle of the night during my stay.
There was even a iguana or lizard of some kind on my window...thank goodness it didn't get inside. overall, I would stay here again (on a higher floor), just know that the most of odd numbered rooms on the second floor have that view as well (if I had to guess rooms 201 -219 (odd numbers only) have that same view. avoid room...
Read moreDo better, Residence Inn Renton. This hotel has gone completely downhill, and I have to imagine it is because leadership (I use the term loosely) simply does not care about guests. Check-in at this hotel is listed as 3:00PM. My room was not ready until 4:30PM. Things happen right? Well one would think you would be offered a bottle of water or at least the option to store your luggage while you wait on your room. Not here. In fact, someone in my party asked about water and was told to go to the second floor. Once we finally did get to the room, it was nice and spacious. The layout was a bit odd, but it had an oven which was a very nice touch. Parking is awful, and they charge you for it. Location is good. Breakfast is subpar. Partially through my stay, I received a message that I had checked out of my room. Went down to the front desk and asked what was going on, and they told me not to worry about it and everything was good to go. Strange. Well later in the day, one of the staff members visits my room demanding a credit card from my wife (who has no idea what is going on by the way) to cover some bizarre pre-authorization; or else we cannot continue to stay. Mind you, they had already pre-authorized my card for the entire stay plus incidentals when I checked in. Since they decided to visit my room while I was at work and not tell me while I was standing at the front desk talking to them, I had to call and speak with this individual who went to my room, who offered no legitimate reason why they went to my room to threaten my wife instead of speaking with me directly. Instead of answering my questions, said person hung up the phone. Further, I have still not received points or credit for this stay, and no one will answer to that either. In conclusion, the closest you should get to at this hotel is their...
