My wife and I bought a Groupon for Trenchers. When mentioned to her sister, her sister did likewise. 4 groups of us came together to celebrate yet -another sister's birthday. My wife and I consider ourselves experIenced foodies - and the menu made us both immediately intrigued. The restaurant is nestled between buildings and could have been mistaken for having been in the theater. We were seated in the outdoor area in a breezeway between a couple of shops. Parking in the adjacent structure is free and relatively simple. We chose to share the deep -fried brie with strawberry- habanero sauce. Delicious, crusty chunks of creamy brie cheese. The sauce is sugary with thick chunks of strawberry and a short punch of spice. The combination is ocean -salty with a crisp tempura crust and a sweet-hot bite. I ordered the coffee pulled pork bbq nachos. My wife ordered meatloaf sliders and sweet potato tots. My pulled pork bbq nachos were absolutely delicious with every flavor profile addressed. It had creamy guac crowned with pickled onion, atop a generous amount of pulled pork with a light coffee essence and a tangy bbq sauce. Below that - salty crunchy homemade corn tortilla chips with a well seasoned cheese sauce. Sour cream is drizzled over the lot and a small handful of a mild pickled jalapeno is tossed about the finished product. It's all fantastic. My wife's sliders were so well flavored with more tangy bbq sauce and a thick cut of bacon outside of the meatloaf round on a brioche bun. My wife said that they could have been made better by crisping the bacon more, and by wetting the entire bun with bbq sauce. Regardless, the flavor was still phenomenal to me. The prep time for the meal was just a tiny bit slow but our waitress Alecia kept us in drinks and water while we waited. She did a great job with every step, through cashing and managing multiple Groupons to ensuring we got a sniff of a few different varieties of their excellent beer, cider, wine and cocktail selection. We were relaxed and in the end, well fed and watered. Great...
Read moreVery poor experience. Staff spent more time talking to each other and washing a glass here and there Vs. waiting tables. Never given a menu until I went up to the bar and asked for one - after sitting at our table for over 15 minutes. Finally a guy came over and took our drink and appetizer order- he never returned for our dinner order. The place seemed very unorganized, most of the staff were behind the bar almost the entire time we were there, chatting. We were hungry, after giving them enough time to come back to our table, we paid our bill and went across the street to The Rock. We were seated immediately and our order was taken (they were much busier too) also seen a couple that was at Trenchers had also came over and was sitting in the dining area. I’m all about supporting local businesses but gotta do better then the experience we had.
At least you read the reviews too bad you don’t actually “hear” what you’re customers are saying. The tall girl with glasses wouldn’t even look in our direction when we tried to get her attention. I went to the bar to get a menu and instead of handing it to me the guy didn’t even acknowledge that he heard me- he picked up the menus and walked around the bar and dropped them off at the table. Instead of arguing with YOUR customers, hear them and get servers who understand what serving looks like. Customers, like us, come to your business to give you MONEY and if they’re treated well they come back and keep giving you money and if they’re treated poorly, they don’t. If you’re the owner, I find it telling in your response to others on here that have posted reviews similar to mine, you’re defensive but not really seeing the issue. Poor reviews should be a guide on what you can do better. To bad, we dine out at The Landing 1-3 times a week and the beer selection...
Read moreI visited this place on the 14th of July. The general manager of this place does not treat non-white customers with respect. Do not go in there even if you have a slight accent.
I walked in there and ordered food at 1:45 PM. I took a note of the time because I was in a hurry to get somewhere. The food wasn't served until 2:30 PM so I told the server that I was in a hurry, and I just wanted to pay for the drinks. The server complied to my request but that's when the manager forced me to take the food with me. The time was 2:35 PM when this was happening. She showed me that the food was ordered at 2:05 PM on the receipt, and told me I was not telling the truth. My belief is that the server put-in the order about 20 minutes late. I was checking the time the whole time because I had to be somewhere at 2:45 PM.
I kindly explained the situation but she insists on paying for the food. When I was firm about not paying for the food , she got really emotional and told me to never come back without proper English. She also told me her server wouldn't lie to her, and accused of me (customer) for not telling the truth.
I left the place instantly. Is this real in 2019??? There shouldn't be a place for racism in America. I am a law-abiding citizen who pays every tax imposed for the past 26 years.
Please reconsider if you are thinking about visiting this place. The manager seems very...
