Loved the campsite, it was amazing. Unfortunately we were either lied to or had an uninformed employee give us bad information, but from everyone's response it seems like it was on purpose. We checked in just before the office closed and I advised the staff that we had already purchased tickets to the Old Town Trolley tour and wanted to know when and where to get picked up. (We had just stayed at the St. Augustine KOA and done the Old town tour there and were very pleased). The lady told me that people were supposed to purchase the tickets at the KOA office and so she didn't know if they would pick us up with the courtesy shuttle or not. She said there was another group getting picked up but she didn't know what time, so I had to call the tour company myself and arrange pickup. I called that night, but they were closed, the after hours person told me it shouldn't be a problem to call at 8 in the morning when they opened. I called around 8:05 and received a voicemail that nobody was available, but to leave a message, I did. I called back shortly after 9 after not hearing from anyone, and eventually learned that the pickup had already taken place and there was nothing they could do! They advised that the courtesy pickup happens every day at 9 am and didn't understand why we weren't advised of that. Looking at Uber and Lyft it was going to be at least $50 each way for the 4 of us to get to the tour, so we opted to disconnect everything on our motorhome and drive into Savannah, then had to come back at night and hook everything back up. This was really a big disappointment and a shame because the campsite was so amazing! We would have much rather been able to catch the courtesy shuttle and spend more time enjoying the site, especially since we had opted for one of the most expensive spots right on the water. Upon returning to the campsite we filled up our propane and while paying I have feedback to the lady running the register. She said that the trolley always picked up at 9, again had no explanation and reluctantly offered an apology.

I travel with my disabled 18 year old daughter and her emotional support dog. We stayed a total of 5 nights - 3 in a tent site and 2 in a camping cabin. The campground is beautiful and very well-maintained. We especially enjoyed the swans and ibis. The tent sites are spacious, and the tent pad is a nice feature. The little camping cabins are near the tent sites, right on the lake, with nice little porches. Very pleasant. We loved our tent camping experience, EXCEPT FOR THE INSANELY LOUD interstate and railroad traffic at night, for which we were unprepared. We didn't notice the noise in the little cabins, but it was pretty unbearable in the tent. We have traveled extensively, even cross country, staying in cabins at KOA campgrounds in many states. This is the only KOA that we've encountered that did not allow our registered emotional support (and supremely good) dog in a deluxe cabin, even though there were a number of vacancies in them. The grounds crew and the evening staff in the office were wonderful; however, the day staff/management were quite rude, repeatedly, right out of the gate, with no cause. Except for the rudeness of the day staff/management, our experience was very good. Except for sleeping in the tent, the setting was peaceful and relaxing, and we were able to unplug and unwind quite nicely. Savannah is a great destination - about 45 minutes away. The beach at Tybee Island was closer to an hour's drive from the campground. Water and electricity at the tent site were great. We were close to bath house and laundry. Wifi worked fine, for a fee. We would stay at this campground again, in a cabin or an RV, but not in a tent.

My stay at KOA Savannah South in Richmond Hill, GA was a few years ago, but it’s one of those experiences that really sticks with you. What began as a weekend escape quickly turned into a longer, month-to-month stay and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to land during that time. I stayed in one of the cabins in the back, right by the water, and the view was absolutely 💯% breathtaking, I added some photos for this update. Waking up to the still lake, the sound of birds, and the occasional duck floating by was such a peaceful start to the day. The turtles? 🐢🐢🐢 Definitely a highlight! I found myself looking for them often, it became part of my routine. The cabin was clean and cozy, and the whole campground was well-kept. The bathhouses and laundry area were always spotless, and I truly appreciated how quiet and calm the area felt. One thing that really stood out to me was how safe I felt, especially knowing KOA brought in a police officer to patrol on the weekends. That extra step showed they genuinely care about their guests' peace of mind, and it didn’t go unnoticed. You will also notice that there are cameras installed within the roads of the campsite. I appreciate it. The staff was kind and helpful throughout my stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return. KOA Savannah South is a gem. It is peaceful, scenic, and thoughtfully run. I miss it... and the memories I built with other residents that became friends. I hope they are doing OK... Lots of Love, Dee

Stayed memorial day weekend. We have stayed at this location several times in the past due to it being a perfect middle meeting spot for us from Fort Bragg NC and our family from South Florida, have never had any issues. BUT BEVER AGAIN!! This time was the worst!! We made reservations out 9 months ago, planning a family reunion, the office knew this, even made adjustments to put majority of us together in the same area, BUT after getting there and spending 1 night, the entire family was targeted!! Saturday morning we were informed someone complained there was a large party going on all night, which was RIDICULOUS, there were 7 adult family members who haven't seen each other in almost a year sitting around a fire pit, talking and laughing (everyone else had gone to bed), then when my daughter came Saturday morning, she was interrogated at the check in getting a parking pass asking how many people were in the camper (mind you my camper sleeps 10) but never once did they ask me, I even informed the gentleman on the golf cart who brought us to our site, that I had kids coming in after us. We were on site 48, bigger end site, which he also informed us is where they should park, Saturday afternoon one of the staff said something to my son about that, but again never to ME.. they made a comment, we don't normally allow parking there.. then WHY were we told to have them park there? Then Sunday, we leave for the day to find water to swim for the little ones,, i get a call that we had a vehicle that was in the way, so I leave the water, drive back to find TWO INCHES of my daughters tires were not in the grass! We as a family between all 6 sites spent almost $3000, but were treated like trash!! Now to top it off, after nothing said to anyone at check out, they charge family members cards an extra $250 saying there was greese from the grill on the carport and someone 'seen' a dog go in the cabin.. i had my dog, they KNEW I had my dog and it NEVER stepped foot in a cabin! Point is, these guys were RUDE AND RIDICULOUS (all my dealing with Connie on the phone were great) and my family will NEVER go...
