Captain's Bounty On The Beach — Hotel in Rockport

We stayed for 2 nights 12th and 13th October 2024 -- and only because we had pre-paid -- never again||The first thing we noticed was the smell in the room -- it smelt of unwashed but well soiled underwear and permeated everything in the room including the bed clothes. Initially we thought it was just that the room hadnt been used for a while but after leaving the window and door open for over 3 hours the stench was still there.|Then we switched on the air conditioning unit -- it was so noisy that we just had to switch it off straight away.|Then the plug in the sink in the bathroom broke -- after putting it in place to get a bowl of water it would not open which meant I had to hoke underneath to get it open. On the second day we met the housemaid and I told her of the problem -- she filled the sink, saw it wouldn't open and then reached in under the sink and quickly freed it -- it looked as if this wasnt the first time she had done that -- and she agreed to report it to "management"!!|When we got into bed we saw the sheets -- these were badly creased and did not look as if they were fresh|The final straw -- when we were checking we had everything as we were leaving was to find underwear in the top drawer -- not ours!||The only positive aspect was that the view from the room was good as was the location of the property with respect to Rockport||Overall this was a terrible experience -- I have been travelling for over 40 years and this ranks as one of the worst -- and I would advise anyone who asks -- do not book this...

I wanted to follow up after my first review 4 years ago. Rockport has become my favorite vacation spot and Captain's Bounty is a huge part of my blissful vacation! I've now been going for 4 years and Captain's Bounty has not let me down ever! It's the place to be if your vacationing in Rockport! Please see my last post for all the details. I'll name a few: I love the ownership as they take pride in making sure their customers have a wonderful stay! The rooms have been recently updated and extremely clean (and they didn't even need it in my opinion), nothing is better than sleeping with listening to the waves, location location location -right on Front Beach, gorgeous views, you can walk to everything (best location imo), if you have any questions the owners and staff are more than happy to guide you with the local information that you might need. Captains Bounty on the Beach was wonderful! Maureen at the desk even came to my car when I was struggling to get the luggage from the car. She helped carry bags too. WAY not her job! Bless her dear heart. Two caveats: I have a past fractured back so the beds were a bit too hard for me but you may enjoy that firmer support! The steps leading to the office on the second floor were a touch tipped from age I expect; but that top one..for me? WHEW! AGAIN...just my abilities issues. The maids came everyday to set fresh linen and there are little kitchens in the rooms. Everything was kept filled and clean. We were greeted with cookies and a trinket gift and were able to use their nuce sized coffee mugs during our stay. There weren't many shells on the beach but it did have a fair amount of clear sea glass...we found a lot of teeny chippy bits. It was still fun looking! Oceanfront rooms...seagulls singing you awake..breath-taking views....and sweet, caring...
