We had been staying at the Eagle house beachside for 8 years prior to this acquisition and loved it! We were a bit skeptical when we were made aware that the change of ownership was happening in February, so close to our “already booked” 2020 summer vacation. We received a call from the new manager shortly thereafter stating that the Captain Bounty had purchased, they would honor our reservation and informed us that the price of our 9 day trip would be almost double now! She went on to say they were planning on updating and renovating, things like re paving the parking lot and rehabbing the bathrooms etc! Needless to say we were shocked! We had a couple of days to decide if we wanted to keep our reservation or walk away. Being so close to summer nothing else was available so we agreed that we would give it a shot but had to shorten the length based on our planned budget! Fast forward to COVID PANDEMIC..... the world shutdown and we weren’t even sure we would be able to go on vacation like the rest of the world.... until Phase 3 happened and my husband surprised us with a trip up to Rockport. Father’s Day weekend ..... to stay at the NEW Captain Bounty Beach View... and WOW!!!!!! Not only were we literally the first people to stay there with our 12 and 9 yr old children since the completion of the renovation and shut down from COVID... BUT upon pulling in, the parking lot was beautifully re paved and striped.... the building was painted and looked fresh! It was a “touch less” check in so we were able to just give a phone call when we arrived and walk right into our sparkling new room, the room we had ALWAYS stayed in over our 8yrs! It was breath taking! New everything, tables, chairs, mattresses, lights, paint , AC’s and the bathrooms were stunning! Everything smelled so fresh and new. Then we had the pleasure of meeting Joe, the new owner and it just all made sense! He was an absolute doll who spared no expense when he took on this property that my family and I already loved for so many years! He was so kind and attentive and personable. He sat down outside with us and we just visited! We felt like we had known him forever! The next day we ended up extending our stay for an additional night and meeting the man who oversees that property with Joe and his name is Chris.... also wonderful! He made us feel so comfortable and he was so down to earth and just wanted us to be happy with our stay! I know this is a long review but we have a small business of our own and we understand how important it is to share these types of stories with the world to help businesses like this and wonderful people like Joe and his crew! So we will end with this.... don’t be taken aback with the prices if you have stayed here in the past, Joe spared no expense in updating this place and it is worth every penny! We are counting the days until July and have even conned a family of our friends to book while we are there so Joe we are already referring!!! Hope Captain Bounty Beach...
Read moreGood location. Good parking, esp. Compared to on the beach. Fortunately, no animals. Over room 6, we heard the guy snore! Screen door spline needed fixing. Plenty of room but no reading chair or TV chair. Just 2 hard kitchenette chairs. Two lights in the room. One with a 100w bulb, appropriate. One with 60w bulb. There is not enough light and it had tungsten color. No grab bars in the shower! One switch controls shower light and fan. Waste of energy. Besides grab bars missing and no reading chairs, the biggest downside is the toilet is so close to the sink counter, I can actually wash my hands while sitting. If you have difficulty getting up, find a room with the toilet and sink offset. You will hit you head. So, you can't go by the photos. Just make sure the toilet and sink are not aligned. I think room 10 has what we may...
Read moreWe had a one-room king on the first floor. The room itself and bathroom were fine and clean, however the walls were very thin and we were disturbed by noise from two sources. First we had a family with two kids upstairs, and families with kids are just noisy, but it was disrupting to us. I'd recommend getting a second floor unit or one with no unit above it. Secondly the air conditioner in the unit next to us was extremely noisy. It had a very loud vibration when it was running, a noise meter app on my phone registered as 55 decibels.
Parking was tight, although we always had a space. There was no place to charge our electric car.
The first burial ground of Rockport was right next door and very quiet. Fascinating to look at. And the location right across from Front Beach was perfect. To me it was just a...
