I stayed at this hotel for a marriage retreat last weekend, and I did NOT have a great experience. The view of the lake was beautiful, and the hotel's interior was nice and clean which I hope is why the prices of everything here were so high because everything else was subpar. The room my husband and I had was bland and nothing separated it from being a regular room at a regular hotel except for the prices, compared to other resorts I've been to. To be a resort hotel the rooms were below standard of any resort I've ever visited. The coffee machine was poor, and there were no cups in the room for it. Our rooms were also missing microwaves, and the only way we could get access to one is if we paid a fee of $25 to have one brought to our room. Our time in the marriage retreat was amazing! The people that served us dinner at our first session on the retreat were amazing, and so was the food. The marriage retreat was an event that was being held there and it seemed as if the staff had absolutely no idea about it, my husband and I struggled to find the room where the sessions would be held because there were NO visible signs letting us know that anything was going on or where it was. Later that night, as a few couples were going out for a walk, we did notice a small sign hidden behind a column in the foyer. One of the staff members saw it and said "ugh, what is this for" with a disgusted look on his face, and began to move the sign to the back towards the front desk. I said "it's for the marriage retreat" he just shrugged and continued to remove the small sign from public view. I passed the event screen on multiple occasions and the screen said that there was no event there that weekend. That was also extremely disappointing being that the event hosts put so much time and effort into getting this together. Checkout was also ridiculous. There was a long line with only one person behind the counter, and we had a time limit to checkout. Two days after check out, I noticed an extra charged on my account. I called the hotel, they said they would remove the charge after 3-5 days. I waited, the charge wasn't removed, so I called back, only to get the run around. I eventually had to get it settled through my bank. I cane did the event and that was the only great part about my stay. This is an annual event that Love is the Key throws for singles (on a separate occasion) and married couples (this occasion), it was our first time in that particular resort, and I hope it will...
Read moreBeautiful place. The staff earned the 3 stars. I visited family members who were guests at the hotel for a little pool time. We had ordered simple chips and salsa and after about 45 minutes we asked about it and seemed to have gotten overlooked. Bar service was quite slow also and the guest load at the pool was far below what could be considered "peak occupancy". I ordered drinks and opened a tab. Because no outside food or drink was allowed at the pool, we went upstairs to eat and cool off a while. I returned to the pool bar to order another drink and my tab had been closed along with 20% gratuity added. Note: This was about 90 minutes BEFORE the bar closes. Though I absolutely believe in tipping, I inquired about the closing of my tab and gratuity added as I hadn't requested the tab being closed and the bar was still fully open for business. I was told I would need to go to the front and request the receipt from the manager as if it was too much trouble for the bartender to go and get the information for me seeing as how there was no one at the bar waiting to order next. After finally going to get the receipt (there was an assumption I was staying at the hotel and had charged a tab to my room), I again asked about the added gratuity and was told "it is automatically added to ALL tabs". I repeated the statement for confirmation and she affirmed. I decided to go inside anyway to discuss the policy with the manager who just happened to be on break right at the time I went in; in the middle of a Friday evening. So I asked the woman at the front desk in his absence and she too said gratuity is automatic on all tabs. After that I decided to test this theory and went to the inside bar. I ordered a drink and opened a tab. I then had a second drink and requested to close the tab. Miraculously, no gratuity had been AUTOMATICALLY added. Seemed that something was amiss. I graciously tipped the bartender who apparently wasn't following policy and left the establishment. It's unfortunate that when you go to a property that's supposed to be the Hilton "brand" and you get service and professionalism that is of a lesser franchise. One might ponder why I didn't go back to seek out the manager after my discovery. I was a bit disgusted and wasn't in the mood to be further disappointed. I will, however, remember the bartender that served me last if I ever go back there. He was a nice, professional guy and made...
Read moreAs a bride who had her entire wedding stay at this hotel I will warn future brides to look elsewhere - specially down the street to the wonderful Marriott Spring Hill suites. My guests that stayed at the Marriott Spring Hill suits during my wedding absolutely RAVED about the employees and how wonderful it was. Go check them out! The way I am disgusted with Hilton during my WEDDING is beyond what you can imagine. The elevator was down for my entire wedding weekend. Guests with disabilities were forced to stay in rooms far from elevators, waiting 15+ minutes for elevators to come down because we had to use the service elevator - which by the way was absolutely disgusting. My wedding dress was totally dirty on the bottom before I even walked out of the hotel to take photos. I ended up changing into a different dress after guests were pointing out how black the bottom was. The manager on duty refused to help, apologize, take responsibility or improve on the experience guests were having. Absolutely mind blowing. The hotel you stay at for your wedding weekend should be the last thing causing you issues… but instead from start to finish myself and my guests were blown away at the way this Hilton property handled itself. Checkout took 35 minutes and then another 15+ min to get our items from our room - since there was one working elevator for hundreds of people. Did I mention that the hotel is clearly trying to retaliate against me by charging me for the rooms robe because it “ had a stain”. Keep in mind I was a bride that had my own bridal robe. The audacity is insane. This review could go on for pages but I will end it here with stay elsewhere for your wedding. **We were even stopped from taking photos with my wedding photographer INSIDE my hotel and told we needed permits * so don’t be fooled that you’d even be able to take pictures there. I asked Hilton to look into having my wedding dress cleaned even just the bottom and was told they are refusing anything of the sort This Hilton is “individually owned and operated, matters concerning damage must be held at the hotel level.” As corporate told me, so clearly the standard isn’t held to the...
