Huckabees Coffee — Restaurant in Rockwall

This review is being posted on a late Tuesday afternoon. Let’s start off with the good. The decor is pleasant and the music is just loud enough to be non invasive to conversation. Overall it is enjoyable. The service is lackluster. No smiles, monotone transaction, but still willing to accommodate the customer so it gets a rather neutral rating. I did not have food but ordered a flat white. The young man at the register asked me if I wanted 12 or 16 oz. I explained to him what a flat white was and asked if he could make it half the size, to which he accommodated. The chart inside the store even explains what’s. Flat white is. I am assuming this is not his fault, and is likely is likely a matter of needing to invest in employees and train them properly. Overall, Hukabees is a pretty decent coffee bar, but if it is going to have a. flat white on the menu it should serve it as intended; as a 5-6 oz drink comprised of a double shot of espresso with a splash of foamed milk. It was an impromptu stop after getting lunch nearby during our road trip, but just felt like our coffees were way too sweet even after ordering more espresso and water to dilute it. Our baristas were friendly though. They did not offer to help remake the drink when they saw me trying to fix it at the bar top when I said it was too sweet for me when they asked what was going on, but not knocking points off for that (just kind of something I would've done back in my barista days). Place was clean and nice looking with fun options for non-coffee products seemed pretty cool while waiting as well. Overall, I think it was an okay experience, but with the abundance of coffee shops, I may skip this one going forward. I didn't even take pictures like normal, sorry! If you like things on the sweeter end, this is totally just a personal preference review (or it could've been an off day for them), and you should still go check it out since it seems a lot of other people seem to like...

Finally tried this place out today. I found the service to be slow and awkward. Lackadaisical with zero enthusiasm whatsoever. I get it, it’s a coffee shop, but a little bit of effort would have been nice. I ordered a small basic latte with no additional flavoring or sweetener of any kind and the espresso was nearly completely flavorless. They do have pretty cool flavor choices on their macarons not to mention a lot of other really cute stuff in their shop. However I went for the coffee and found it very disappointing. It’s possible I went on a bad day and perhaps the latte wasn’t made correctly or there’s an explanation for the poor service/weird attitude of the staff. It seems most of their reviews are pretty glowing. Definitely willing to give them another shot but was not impressed based on my first visit today. Maybe I should try something other than a latte next time. Surely their actual coffee is better than...
