Dirty laundry tucked in our bed covers from the previous guest in a supposedly fresh "clean" room? :( ::BARF:: I'm leaving 2 stars because previously we really enjoyed this particular hotel location.
I really dislike leaving these kinds of reviews but I feel like it needs to be addressed as it was hardly addressed during our stay, other than switching rooms.
We have been here several times this past year with no serious issues. This recent visit this weekend (9/29-9/30 stay) has me not so sure we will be back. My Husband and I were in town for business and I was going on about 48 hrs of no solid sleep and was absolutely exhausted. So much so that this would be the first time that I can recall in my entire adult life of hotel stays that I did not check the bedding or untuck everything prior to getting in the bed. After all, we've stayed here many times before and each time the bedding check proved passing, and I was just too dang tired.
We check in and I decided I was going straight to bed. My Husband was watching TV as I jumped in the bed and got under the covers on the verge of a comfortable and much needed slumber. The military style bed tucking had me feeling super claustrophobic and I was much too weak to kick the bedding loose, so I asked my Husband if he could untuck it for me. As he was untucking he yanked his hand back in shock and almost disgust. I was terrified it was the dreaded bed bug. I jumped up out from under the covers to see what he was looking at there on the bed under the covers.
I could not believe my eyes. It was a pair of used women's lace panties including a lovely sanitary napkin stuck inside. (insert the barf emoji here) Everything in me wanted to hurl and pack up and just go to Marriot (where we typically stay when traveling). I was so very tired and my Husband convinced me to just move rooms so that I could get to bed. They (TRU Staff) moved us to the room next door, which thankfully did not bear the surprises of used dirty delicates, but left me with a very disgusting feeling of unease.
I did not hear a single peep from the staff after the room switch to the next door room. No explanation as to why there were dirty women's underwear with biohazards attached. No sincere apologies. In fact one of the staff seemed to down play as we were switching rooms in a way that to me was less than was an acceptable level of professionalism. No follow up from upper management, just overall not what I would expect from a Hilton establishment. This is the kind of thing that happens at a cheap motel, certainly not a triple digit nightly stay.
I'm pretty disappointed that I even have to leave this review, as we really did enjoy this particular Hilton Hotel when visiting Rockwall. I don't want this experience to taint them for me moving forward, but more than anything else, I was very disappointed with how it was handled. I understand accidents happen, but the lack of concern was a 'tru' (pun...
Read moreI stayed here for a couple of days a few weeks ago and it was pretty nice. The area surrounding is pretty nice too! My room & bathroom was pretty clean, it's pretty quiet in the halls. The wifi is really high-speed and stable, which is great if you do any online work or classes. There's also a million plug and lamps, so that's an extra bonus if you have a lot of devices to charge, or just need a lot of light.
I was told they don't do cleanings which is pretty okay with me! They'll still take your towels and whatnot but it's your responsibility to pick up after yourself, essentially. It's a minimalist hotel and then even have really cool mounted squeezy bottles full of hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. It definitely takes away from the clutter of using your own things.
I like that the rooms were spaced out a little for privacy. At other hotels you can definitely hear whoever is literally on the other side of the wall, but I didn't have that issue here. I could actually get a good night's sleep! The bed and all of the pillows you get are super comfortable! Side note- the ac is glorious. GLORIOUS. Sometimes I got a little cold though, but the heat worked pretty good too!
The hotel staff was always really nice whenever I interacted with them! They do serve hot breakfast as well. They also have a pool and a gym of course, though I didn't get to personally check it out!
My only grievance during my stay here is that you may want to have whoever is cleaning check the hotel shower drains? Just a tip for your future guests because it was a little off putting, but hey, considering everything else was pretty positive, I guess I can't...
Read moreWe stayed one night at Tru by Hilton Rockwall during a short trip to the Dallas / Garland area . Our first time at a Tru Hotel
We chose Tru because of its access to Highway 30 and proximity to the lake
Overall we had a great short stay and would choose Tru again in other cities
The hotel has an eco friendly vibe. For example, there are no microwaves in the rooms but there is a shared micro wave in the lobby. This worked out great for us - we heated up leftovers and ate in the lobby dining area.
The rooms provide a small refrigerator, hair dryer , plenty of towels , shampoo / conditioner / and body wash. Extra amenities like toothbrushes have to be asked for at the lobby. The receptionist was very happy to provide us with extra toothpaste and toothbrushes.
The lobby also had snacks and drinks for sale including alcoholic drinks.
The lobby / shared spaces have hip and modern vibe with workspace areas . We also took a look at the gym which had basic gym equipment for a workout during a trip. The pool looked great! It was smaller than others but had a great lounge area!
The beds were very comfortable and clean. Wooden floors and comfortable A/C that can be adjusted.
Breakfast looked great and there were plenty of options including Greek yogurt and fall pumpkin flavor pancakes.
The lobby has 24 hour coffee and tea
Minutes away from the harbor - we walked and drove to the harbor during our stay.
Would recommend and would stay again if we are...
