probably one of the worst hotels i've stayed in. We specifically chose this room as a stop over, after driving 12 hours with a baby. Online stated there were 'king suite rooms' with a separate bedroom and living space- we liked the idea of this to allow our baby to sleep after a long car ride. well fast forward, we arrive at the hotel and the unpleasant older gentleman at the front desk was very rude. he laughed when he saw i booked a 'king suite' and said that there were only 2-3 of those rooms in the hotel and they were not ready. (now its 6pm and check in i believe was 3 or 4). So i asked when the room would be ready, and he continued to laugh and say there was limited king suite rooms. So, i asked again when the room would be ready and explained i booked that room specifically for the separate bedroom. He said he'd call someone to ask- then picked up a walkie talkie and asked im assuming room service. As they were about to answer he hungup and said "I told you". He didnt even wait to their response!! I said, can you call them again and wait for a response? he then told me and 'buisness man' had just stayed in that room and that i did not want to stay there? so strange, he was very off. I almost just left, but we were exhausted so i told him to give me whatever room he had available. When we go to the room, it was the exact room i had booked- the king suite? We were so confused. it was strange. our room only had 2 full sized towels, after going to the pool, we asked for dry towels- only to be told there was a towel shortage and they had none? what kind of hotel has no towels??? The trash from the previous person was not taken out- and the dishwasher full of dishes. The room was musty, damp and gross. the pull out couch was not even close to being ok to sleep on and no extra blankets were provided for it to be used. We were up all night coughing- especially our 1 year old. we ended up leaving at 5am, all sick from the night. Ended up at urgent care with our 1 year old with respiratory issues after staying in this room. GROSS. this hotel should...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of staying at Candlewood Suites for the second time, and it was a fantastic experience. We were impressed with the exceptional service we received from the hotel staff upon arrival, unlike anything we had experienced at other hotels. The employee on duty introduced herself, thanked us for being members, and provided us with all the necessary information. This made us feel really welcome, especially after a two-hour journey and arriving after 8 pm. The value we received from our stay was significant enough for us to stay 30 miles away from our business location in Roanoke Rapids. The environment was fantastic, allowing us to work and relax. The hotel is near various facilities like restaurants, electric vehicle charging posts, post office, grocery store, drug store, etc., providing everything we need to feel at home. Moreover, it is conveniently located right off the interstate.
At the start of our stay, we cleaned and disinfected our room thoroughly. We noticed that when we cleaned our room at Candlewood Suites, our cleaning clothes were barely dirty. Their staff cleans to a higher standard than other hotels.
During our three-day stay, we experienced two minor inconveniences. Firstly, a basketball camp stayed in the hotel on the top floor, and their energy level was very high, which caused some noise issues. However, we were able to work, watch TV, and rest with the help of our noise-canceling headphones. Secondly, there isn't a designated check-in parking space, so some guests used the two handicapped spots to check in and unload their vehicles. However, the full kitchen in our room was a cost saver, as we went grocery shopping, cooked part of our meals, and visited some local establishments for the others. Overall, we would stay here again, but next time, we would prefer to stay on the top floor to avoid the noise of...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences at a hotel ever!!. I booked for a travel volleyball tournament. We choose this specific hotel as it had a separate areas for the master and a sleeping area for my teen daughter. I would have preferred another hotel as this one didn't even offer any type of breakfast AND was the most expensive in the area. BUT I needed the separated areas so be it. We booked a month ahead of time. Upon arrival/check in, I was greeted by a man at the desk. He proceeded to show me a paper as he was ringing me up and I noticed the price was less. I asked him if the room I booked was correct. He proceeds to show me a photo of the room, that was not was I requested, two queen beds no separation. I explained that this is not what I booked and would not work. I needed the king suite. I tried to show him my reservations on my phone. He said "I really don't care what that says, this is what the morning people assigned and if you don't like it, you can leave. Someone else will take it. We're all booked. We are an extended stay and haven't had that room available in awhile." He starts to yell at the passing cleaning crew asking if 128 was done. The guy said "Almost!". It's 5pm...our room is not even ready! We are tired and over it. As we are waiting in the lobby, another man came in and the front desk guy starts telling him that his reservation he booked 3 months ago isn't available either! Tells him the same thing "You can go somewhere else, we don't have anything." We get to our room about 20 min later. There is hair all over the window sills. Sticky stuff on table. My teen took a shower and showed my the hair in the shower and a long black hair wrapped in the towel. None of us have long black hair! This place is gross disgusting and the service was absolutely the worst! I took photos of the hairs everywhere, but I won't disgust...
