El Tapatio Rocky Mount #2 — Restaurant in Rocky Mount

My boyfriend and I went to El TaPatio’s on a Friday night after work for a meal and drinks. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy, but we were fine with waiting. However, we noticed that several other customers who came in after us received their food before we did. This didn’t bother us at first since we were enjoying our drinks.

We ordered buffalo wings and two entrees. When the wings arrived, they were excessively wet and saucy. We waited for our waitress to check on us, but she never returned. Meanwhile, all the surrounding tables, occupied by white customers, were receiving service, but we waited for over 15 minutes without any attention. When our entrees arrived, the waitress still hadn’t come back to check in.

At this point, I had to go ask the staff to remake the wings. The manager initially argued about the wings, but I explained that we’d been waiting for our waitress and that everyone around us had been helped except us. She eventually agreed to remake the wings, but by then, the experience had already left a bad taste. I didn’t even feel like eating the food anymore.

I asked for a to-go box, paid the bill, and left. The lack of attention and respect was overwhelming. No one checked in on us or asked if we needed anything throughout the meal. I’ve been here before, but after this experience, I will not...

This place is definitely a treasure I am glad I found. When trying to meet my sister somewhere for lunch in September (she is in VA, I'm in SC). This is a place I found that was roughly half way. We loved it so much, we decided to meet again yesterday with our other sister and a cousin. Again, the food and the service was amazing. The first time, I got the loaded nachos. I couldn't even eat all of it because it was a lot of food! This time, I got the pick 2 items with rice/beans, since it would be easier to transport leftovers home. I knew in advance I would fill up on the chips/salsa. What I didn't know was how AWESOME their cheese sauce would be!

I just saw another review (Deirdre Briggs) boasting about their churros...so that is definitely going to be an item I get next time. Her pictures have already sold me on it for next time! I cannot see any item on their menu being a disappointment. So I will definitely try it!.

Can't wait to go back! Think I'll do the taco salad...

When to this location for the first time since i recently discovered it is closed to home. I went with a group of friends and was seating in a separate room with another group. The food was fine but my experience was terrible!!! The other group was obnoxious and LOUD. I couldnt even hear my friend who was sitting next to me speak. We asked the waiter if they can asked them to please lower their voices but nothing change. I never in my life been in a room with rudely loud people. It was so loud that once they left (which we left soon after) my ear drums left as if i left a loud concert. I couldnt hear. I wasnt the only one at my table that felt this was. It was such a terrible experience that we just wanted to hurry up and finish eating and leave so we no longer has to be in there any longer. I had a severe headache after the fact. Again food was fine and would love to go again but i felt that the staff didnt do anything to help the...
