I truly wish I could leave a positive review. However, our dinner experience never happened due to a very poor organization and total lack of respect and professional treatment from the staff. Not what I expect from a place that charges $40+ per plate!
Made the reservation for 7:30pm via an Open Table (which I love for making reservations❣️); the reservation was changed by the restaurant to 8pm at 7:27pm !!! Via the app !!! No phone call; no text messages from the restaurant!! (red flag #1) Upon our arrival we were greeted and quickly dismissed by the manager that “you need to park and enter via the main lobby of the resort..” (red flag #2) The dining area had hardly any guests in - why change our reservation time? (red flag #3.) The restaurant (supposedly) offers valet parking - no signs, no directions on how impossible is to park there (red flag #4) - it took us 20+ minutes and very rude and dismissive “the valet entrance is around the corner”, (even though our car is right in front of the “valet parking” sign by the hotel’s main entrance!!) explanations from the restaurant manager and 2 of the resort front desk employees (red flag #5.) Mind you- the restaurant has a separate entry, but you have to go through the hotel lobby and their very convoluted valet parking system (which is a disaster) to get to the restaurant!
We stopped counting the red flags at this point and gave up - after 20minutes of trying to get our car parked by a valet staff.. it became a total nightmare- not at all how I like to spend my Saturday evenings especially when visiting new places!
Maybe being a guest of the hotel or if one walks on foot there guarantees being able to actually gain access to the restaurant and have your reservation honored. Otherwise, avoid this place and give your money to someone who will treat you with respect and simple courtesy! We ended up dining at “The Drunken Horse St. Augustine”- a truly lovely place serving wonderful French...
Read moreI came with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. We wanted to experience their Spanish influenced menu. I liked the pictures I saw in their website about the ambiance, the menu and the wine selection. I also wrote to the restaurant through the Open Table app asking a question about their menu. However, the night started with a down note for me when I saw the renovation that they did to the restaurant. The atmosphere was completely different to what I saw I their website. They went for a dark green, black and gold design that made the restaurant really dark. Just the opposite to the website pictures. We sat by the piano, and the good music helped me adjust to the last minute change of atmosphere. The service was courteous and direct. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. The ambiance reminded me of some trendy restaurants in Nashville, though a notch short of those. The food was good. The flavors and ideas came as expected from the Spanish cuisine. My wife loved the soup. My grouper and my wife's steak were good. We ordered a glass of Pinot noir for my wife and a red blend for me. Both wines were forgettable. I never got an answer to the question I sent through the Open Table app and the fact that they knew this night was our anniversary celebration, did nothing to make the experience at Costa Brava extra special. When I looked at the night overall, we had a good time. The piano did wonders for a music lover like me. My wife was happy. But Costa Brava under delivered. I expected more. Other reviews talk about the size of the portions and they are in line to what you would expect in a restaurant that wants to be trendy, modern and a cuisine specialist. The price? Well, I found their prices match what they aspire to be. The problem is that they fall short from that. Would I come back?...
Read moreBeautiful Art I must say. However, I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Casa Monica Hotel, and I feel compelled to share it. During my visit, I was harassed by an employee, Charlyne Briggs, over something as simple as using the restroom. Even though maintenance had already been completed, she refused to let me use the restroom, asking my coworker how long I would be inside; keep in mind she is not a worker that cleans the restroom. She however spoke to the two cleaning ladies poorly. When I re-entered the lavatory after maintenance, she followed me into the restroom and confronted me after speaking with my coworker. She uttered to me, “I heard you had an issue with me.” At this point, I did not reply and made no eye contact to protect myself from her confrontation. Prior to this, my coworker had already informed her four (4) times that we had a reservation at Cordova Coastal Chophouse & Bar; making us eligible to use the facilities. Also, take into account that I was the only visitor that was being targeted and treated this way.
After I left the restroom for the second time (the first time was due to maintenance), feeling uncomfortable and disrespected, we went to the front desk to report the incident. To our surprise, Charlyne followed us and threatened to call security, creating an even more hostile environment. This kind of treatment is unacceptable and makes me question the professionalism and inclusivity of the establishment. I strongly discourage dining or staying here, as the risk of discrimination and prejudice along with poor customer service is HIGH. Increased training with some of the employees needs to be implemented as it pertains to better customer service. There are plenty of other places in the area that treat their guests...
