Accomodations we’re fine and food was good, however, the front desk experience was atrocious!! My family and I had a reservation last weekend for 3 rooms. We secured the reservation under my boyfriends debit card. (This was intentional because we were splitting the fee, and had plenty of money in his account to do so, We did not want to wait a month for a charge card bill to settle up) The resort had no problem taking our reservation with a debit card and never once explained we may have difficulty using this method of payment. . Once our guests arrived the front desk told one them that our card was un-authorized and she needed to provide them with her credit card. She came out to the pool and told us what happened. My boyfriend went to the front desk and thought he straightened it out by getting on the phone with the bank to prove the funds were available . We thought that was the end of it but no!!!! Upon checkout we learned that they had charged the room fee to my daughters card and would not release her funds back to her until they got clearance from our debit card. They held us up saying our card was declining even though we had proof from the bank that it was definitely not declining and we had plenty of money.to pay the bill. This was so embarrassing to my daughter and of course to my boyfriend. I finally pulled out my charge card. My boyfriend who fully intended to pay for our family weekend was talked down to. The GM was cocky and even suggested the problem we were having must be because we exceeded our funds. (NOT TRUE) They finally deleted his card in order to charge mine. However, he has not received his refund of 2,000.00 to date. And my card has the additional $2,000.00 charge on it as well. Who knows when his funds will be returned??? It was a horrifying experience! Never ever again!!!!!we also had a table reserved on Saturday night out on the patio for his 60th birthday. I called a week in advance to secure the reservation because we had 12 people (4 babies) and this dinner was the main reason we were all gathering. That day, a waitress called my phone and my daughter answered and she told her she needed to move our reservation on to the porch because there was a wedding coming in that needed the tables on that patio.(Not True) she assured her the tables were together. When we got there we learned that we would be split up into two tables and separated by a doorway. This completely defeated our purpose. I stood my ground and asked for the manager. The waitress was cocky and un-accommodating. She retrieved the manager who was professional. I explained my frustration and reminded her I worked all of this out over the phone a week prior to our stay. And that I was spending a lot of money and was extremely disappointed. She immediately corrected the situation and we ended up with the table we had originally reserved. BTW.. We never saw a wedding guest on that patio and we were out there for at least two hours. That experience was exhausting and left me with a bad feeling. This whole thing has been a nightmare and I would definitely think twice about their service desk and restaurant management. If your planning something important, DO...
Read moreLet’s start with the positive: it isn’t “murder-y” to coin a word from Captain Obvious. Seriously, if you are looking for a resort with the amenities then don’t stay here!!! I cannot emphasize that enough. If you want a clean bed in which to sleep then stay at the Holiday Inn, where you will be less apt to be disappointed. Our first impression upon driving up to the Inn was the employee smoking right outside the front door. Then the card reader didn’t work for our credit card—this was fixed upon check-out. After a long wait for the elevator and a very slow ride up to our floor, we arrived at our “suite” only to discover the security lock was defective and we couldn’t get in. After another wait of 20 minutes, somebody finally “jimmied” the lock. So much for security! (This had already happened to the previous occupants and nobody had fixed the problem.) Upon entering our room, we just collapsed, having been on the road for a good portion of the day and then all the delays from hotel glitches. I looked around for a directory that would provide hotel information, including the all-important menu for room service. Nothing was found. Believing this to be an oversight, I called the front desk. But, lo and behold, they don’t provide room service. And, yet, there it was right there on their website. So with trusty IPad in hand, I went down to the front desk to show them what their website advertised. That has since been removed, but they did NOT offer to provide room service for us. After waiting once again for the hotel restaurant to open, we finally were seated and ordered our food. No problem with waiting here. I believe I had taken two bites of my salad before the main course arrived! After dinner, we decided to go for a stroll on the walking trails—also mentioned on the website. We asked the front desk again for directions to the Harbor Loop, a nice after-dinner stroll. A blank stare was all we received. When we mentioned it was part of the system of trails advertised, online on their website, we were given directions to head up the road to the first stop sign……Yes, a nice stroll along a major road is always relaxing. Well, we figured, at least we can relax on the balcony, overlooking the harbor. Not so, there are large exhaust fans which make it virtually impossible to hear each other without shouting; and the view---well, let’s just say my five-year-old grandson would love it because he is fascinated by construction vehicles, at present. As for the rest of us, a view of sand piles, rocks, backhoes, and cranes, across some backwater isn’t really what one has in mind. But, hey, I suppose it is better than the other view which is the parking lot. And, my final pet peeve is the “in room coffee.” They provide EXACTLY one cup of coffee per person. There are far more things I could mention such as a shower which doesn’t maintain temperature and scalds you or an air conditioning unit which doesn’t work well and so on but I think you get the...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with the Director Chris and how he handled himself when I relayed the mishaps during my visit. I stayed at this hotel because of a Wedding, the entire Wedding party stayed here because we were promised shuttle service to the Reception hall which was only 2 miles away. Upon checking in the Bride and Groom were notified that the shuttle service would NOT be available to us. They booked another Wedding and told them that they gave a deposit. We would have gladly provided a deposit to reserve the shuttle service. We would have never stayed at your hotel and would have gladly stayed somewhere else had we have been told prior to our reservation. When I talked to Chris about it in person he just scrambled and kept saying "I'm sorry you feel this way, I'm sorry you feel this way". It was very disturbing that a Director would react to a customers concern this way, he obviously doesn't have the experience or training that a Director would require.
The other complaint I have is the bathroom door. It is a sliding type barn door that offers no privacy what so ever. The door actually came off of the hinge Friday night and we couldn't get into the bathroom without lifting the door outward. We called and the front desk man came up but couldn't seem to get it back on track. My Sister had to stand on a chair to assist and then had her finger pinched when Darnell tried to slide the door. I explained all of this to the DIRECTOR Chris and he said I had not traveled enough because this type of door is the new "in thing". Ughhh I can see his face right now while I'm writing this.
If you are reading my review and you are in a "new" relationship, DO NOT STAY HERE! NO PRIVACY in the bathroom what so ever. The door doesn't even lock and there is a gap on each side of the door.
Lastly, our last day on Sunday the toilet handle broke and the toilet wouldn't flush.
The hotel is beautiful but you are truly NOT ON THE WATER, you are on a little bay starring across to what looks like a steel mill or coal factory.
We had drinks at the restaurant and the menu is odd and doesn't offer a wide variety of selections. Picking out a simple Appetizer was exhausting. If you choose to stay her your will know what I mean.
I just can't get the look of Chris eyes bulging at me with his words.... " I don't understand what you are looking for or I'm sorry you feel this way". He repeated those two lines over and over. I finally said who is above you that I can talk to because I'm clearly not getting thru to you. His response.... "No, one. I'm the Director, I am the highest you can go." I finally just walked away.
If you stay here, I hope you don't encounter dealing with Chris.
P.S. The elevators which there are two, are the slowest moving elevators I've ever been in my life. Hope you don't wait until 11 to check out, you will be waiting like everyone else was on every...
