Bit O This Bit O ThatBit O This Bit O That
Feb 24-March 1, 2025 for a total of five nights, my two friends & I stayed at St. Pete Beach Suites. Our 1st floor room, was very disappointing, old & in poor condition! We complained, but were told they had no other rooms to move us too. Our reservation had been made many months in advance. Here’s a list of issues: The door to our room was so warped that we literally had to use two hands & a lot of strength to pull it open & shut. The couch bed mattress was extremely worn, so thin & impossible to sleep on. We complained about this & were told that a foam topper was ordered the day we complained, but it did not arrive until the day before we left. In the meantime, they provided a twin-size rollaway mattress that we had to lay on top of the double-size bed couch bed mattress. The bed frame also tilted inward causing our friend to sleep on an incline. So uncomfortable! The other two beds in the suite had the most uncomfortable pillows (very hard) & on day one we had to ask for different ones. They were able to scrounge up only 2 replacement pillows. One of the couch cushions was torn. The lone chair was filthy dirty & had a broken back leg! The bathroom did not have a fan or a window that opened, so when taking a shower, the room became extremely steam filled causing us to have to open the door while using the bathroom to get air circulation. The shower did not drain completely and on day one, we noticed that the shower head was filthy. We reported this & the cleaning staff came in to clean it. The walls were chipped (patched without being sanded & repainted) as was much of the molding. Like we were in a skid-row motel. The moldings were also so dirty. One section of the bathroom molding (next to the shower) was rotting & moldy. The blinds were all broken & very difficult to open & close. The windowsill in the couch area had a huge chunk of plaster missing as did the wall under the air conditioning unit in the bedroom. We heard scratching in the walls twice throughout the week. When we told the office staff, they said that they have regular pest control & we were probably hearing something else. Two of us distinctly heard the scratching IN the walls. We spoke to the office staff (Amanda) daily throughout the week & she came into our room to see the issues & agreed that it was not right for us to have to deal with them, but did not have any other solutions other than suggesting that we call the manager who lives in California. We spoke to the manager & she agreed to refund one portion of the fee $1,680.42 we paid to stay there for five nights. We split the room three-ways for a total of $560.14 each. We should have received a complete refund! For this price, we should have had a room in much better condition & reflective of the photos they advertise on their website. Vacationers beware! UPDATE 3/7/25: The "manager" (Amanda) who never identified herself as the manager to us is not being honest in her reply. LET THE PHOTOS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES! Why were we (or anyone else for that matter) given this room? Especially, when the reservation had been made months in advance & ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE WE PAID! It should never have been given to anyone with these issues! The photos on their website do NOT reflect actuality. The foam mattress topper was ordered & delivered the day before we left & only because WE KEPT INQUIRING (she did not check in daily!) as to what they planned to do to rectify the unacceptable pull-out couch situation. For a MOTEL/HOTEL TO SUGGEST THAT PEOPLE SHARE A BED IS JUST WRONG! We paid for 3 beds & should expect 3 acceptable beds. Foam has to be aired out as it has a very strong chemical smell. The topper was delivered so late, we opted to just continue using the twin rollaway mattress they brought in to lay on top of the couch bed. When we were taken to the laundry room to pick out a new pillow, there were only a few to choose from. We really had no choice but to accept what they had. So much for “maintaining a strong reputation, and we take pride in their service.”

Truly nightmarish experience. It started out great, the property is a bit run down but in a great location and has a distinct charm. The front desk thoughtfully called us to let us know the room was ready a few hours before check in. It went drastically down hill from there.. Around 10pm bugs started crawling out of cracks in the walls (and also out of the sink drain) in droves (later discovered they are termites). There were everywhere, all over our luggage, bedding, in our hair, crawling up our legs. We called the emergency number and they sent out maintenance at 11pm. They took pictures and basically sprayed the room with raid, which was not ideal to sleep in after. Unfortunately they were fully booked, they had no room to move us to. They told us we could leave for a full refund, but we had nowhere to go at midnight on a Saturday, so we stayed and they promised to give us a “discount” to compensate for the experience. We ended up stuffing towels soaked in bug spray in the wall cracks and sink and sticking it out versus sleeping in a car. Talked with the office in the morning about the “discount” for a completely bug infested room. They told us they would get back to us later that day. They texted us 2 days later demanding we take down our negative reviews in order to receive any discount. At that point I hadn’t left any negative reviews, but their text was very inspiring to do so. I decided that their false allegations/bullying was the last straw and I’m officially forgoing any “discount” in order to leave an honest review and hopefully save someone else from having their beach weekend ruined by truly disgusting and unlivable conditions. I also now wonder how many other negative reviews have been taken down or never left due to their practices of “discounts” for removing reviews. I hope this honest review of our experience saves somebody’s vacation for them. * In response to the owner comment below..while they did apologize, which we appreciate, we never received any kind of refund or even discount for that matter. Their false claim to have provided a refund is yet another example of how questionable this management is. *The negatives reviews they wanted removed still remain a mystery to us. Best idea we can piece together is that one of us did answer a "how was your stay" type questionnaire from our booking site with a 1 star-I mean we are still vacuuming dead termites out of luggage. That said none of us actually wrote any reviews, until now of course, or mentioned any specific problems so it may have just been a preemptive threat from the hotel to hide their bug problem. Still confused on this piece of the puzzle but regardless of causation it did inspire us to share our story.

St. Pete Beach Suites offered a great stay for my recent trip to St. Pete Beach! Here's what I liked: *Location: Just a short walk from the beach! Perfect for spending your days by the water. *Suites: The suites were stylish and comfortable. I enjoyed having a kitchen in my room, which allowed for some easy meal prep. *Amenities: Two pools to choose from. They also offered complimentary beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels, which was a big plus! The on-site gas grills were great for having a casual poolside barbecue. *Service: The staff was friendly and helpful. A special shoutout to Amanda who went above and beyond to assist with any of my needs. The front desk is staffed from 9 AM to 6 PM, but there's also a lockbox system for after-hours check-in. This is a boutique hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a full-service resort with lots of amenities, this might not be the best choice. Overall, I would recommend St. Pete Beach Suites for a laid-back and comfortable stay in St. Pete Beach!

This place was hands down the best stay we have experienced in St. Pete Beach! The office personnel (Lisa, Melissa and Lori) are amazing, warm and care about your stay from booking to check out. We were greeted by Melissa who helped us settle in and get right into the room and made sure we had everything we needed. Right away we enjoyed the pool and pretty much stayed that way the whole week! The beach is a stones throw away and EVERYTHING you need for the beach transport and chairs they provide! There were pool toys and floats (we left ours after as well to contribute) and we loved that. Lisa came in on Sunday and we felt like we already knew her from the communication prior to arrival! She cares so much about the enjoyment of your vacation and daily needs to ensure you are comfortable. We even got to go with her to check other rooms out, we did book next years stay that evening! And extended!! She greeted us with a Champagne toast and we loved the daily check ins :) The beach bikes provided are awesome. Not many places do that. Love the location and vibe of the place. We also used the laundry mid week. Clean and the corner store sells everything you could possibly need all week. They have an after hours location with cabinets stocked to provide guests with toiletries and towels etc in addition to your additional needs. We also loved the pool towels being put out fresh all day for us to use instead of our beach towels that we brought with us. The ice machine was great, the water refill of filtered water was also a perk. The lawn and garden is kept beautiful and clean grounds. Overall a quiet location with very nice guests too! No nighttime noise at all, no loud bars or parties (except our own...hehe) and our kids felt extremely comfortable. The pools ( 2) are gorgeous. They are kept fresh and the water was awesome and refreshing, in July! The cabanas right there were perfectly set up and grill for use on both pool areas we used twice. The one side is turf (pet friendly) and has yard games to play. The "Dolphin" side is brick and loved right outside our doors!! We have a family of 5 and our friends also are 5. The suite was perfect for us all to be comfortable without crowded. They have created spaces in the rooms to give you a open space concept. Our kids are 20, 12 and 10 so we aren't dealing with babies and it was just right. The beds are dream beds and we all agreed were pretty awesome considering most places we go that's always the scary part. Perfect nights rest even on a "bad back" The beach bikes I wish I used more but that they offer them is wonderful for all. I could go on and I loved it so much. Location is better than perfect and being just off Gulf Blvd I really liked too with all the convenience of access to everything. Right there you have great restaurants like the Frog Pond for breakfast and 86 degrees for a nice adult night out or kids too. Woody's is awesome to have great food and watch dolphins at sunset and ice cream at Twistee Treat at the corner!! With Island Beach hopper service you can get anywhere quickly with a tip :) We loved our stay!! We will be back and we are grateful for that call the day we inquired and Lisa made it work ;) Love St....
