Food and customer service is ALWAYS GREAT. My family loves st pete beach shells
Update: I really wished I didn’t have to edited my original review. Because I loved and my family loved Shells seafood restaurant. But as of 2 weeks ago. We are truly disappointed with leadership. We've even reached out to the district manager. No response. We’ve been customers for decades. Way before they added Shells back to St. Pete Beach. We still have relationships with some of the employees from the Tampa location. The management is awful at St Pete Beach. Bill, if that’s even his name shouldn’t be in the role he’s in. But I get it, it’s hard to find decent ppl now a days to manage a business. He’s a disgrace to this company. It’s so sad to see Shell’s go down the way it is. The food used to be top tier. The customer service used to be A1. All I wanted was more sauce on my pasta I paid almost $30 on. My husband even bought an extra side of sauce but they gave us a 4oz clear cup that the melted butter comes in. Usually when we order extra sauce it’s comes in a styrofoam (maybe 12oz.) Bill didn’t even give me a chance to talk. I just wanted to know if they change the size of their extra sauce containers. He went straight into defense mode and told me I need to order it saucey if i wanted more sauce. I’ve been ordering the same pasta for decades and It never came out that dry. He didn’t even look at the pasta. He insisted that I needed to ordered it saucey. I told him that I wasn’t going to argue with him about the money I’m spending on my food and just to return my money. He told me that Shells do not issue refunds. No Bill you didn’t know how to refund me my money. Your cashier had to show you how and you almost gave me back my money twice. He told her to give me cash and she had to correct him. How embarrassing? I Also asked him for his manager number and he pointed to the phone and said call this number. lol No apology or nothing. I didn’t even take a pic of my pasta to show you all how dry it was. This picture is from 10 months ago. I wasn’t expecting to leave empty handed. Especially because our travel time was 40 mins.
Do not waste your time or money at the St Pete Beach location. Drive to Tampa Hopefully the food and customer...
Read moreOut of all the Shells Seafood Restaurants and I've been to all of them, this one in St. Pete Beach is my favorite by far (followed by the one on Dale Mabry near Kennedy in Tampa) I get away every chance I get to decompress from the daily hustle and bustle of everyday life and rent a beach cottage on Gulf Blvd anywhere between St. Pete Beach to Indian Rocks where my spouse and I can go and relax with our two doggies. No trip is complete without a visit to Shells Seafood Restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious, this place serves the absolute BEST New England clam chowder that would make all of New England green with envy, it is the most delicious chowder I have ever had in my entire life (no joke, don't believe me? go ahead and try it you'll want to eat is slowly to savor every bit of it) the last 2 times we've been to the beach we called ahead and ordered to go and brought everything back to the cottage. Their containers are spill proof and keep your food nice and hot, no need to microwave. I had the shrimp and scallop pasta, with a bit extra sauce and my spouse had the baby lobster pasta as main course as usual it was unbelievably delicious, they are happy to modify things a bit to please all. The lady who took and gave me my order (young African American lady with really nice hair and the most beautiful smile that put anyone in a good mood) she was so nice, efficient, and friendly. Something as simple as taking and receiving a to go order was beyond pleasant, thank you so much sweetheart for the excellent service!! I recommend this restaurant loved by locals to anyone visiting the area, you will NOT be...

If you’re looking for a casual seafood restaurant with a laid-back, beachy vibe, this spot is an absolute winner for meeting up with friends! From the moment we walked in, the friendly atmosphere and ocean-inspired décor set the stage for a great meal.
Let’s talk about the food—because wow, did it deliver! We started with the clam chowder, which is made in-house and absolutely to die for. Creamy, rich, and loaded with fresh clams, it’s easily one of the best I’ve had. If you’re a chowder lover, don’t skip this one!
Next up, we ordered a dozen oysters, and they were fantastic—large, briny, and super fresh. A true taste of the ocean! The calamari had great flavor, but was just a touch tough, so I’d give it a solid 4 out of 5.
For the main course, the Crispy Captain’s Combo was a real standout. The fried cod was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside. The whole plate was a seafood lover’s dream.
We also tried the shrimp and crab dip, which was bursting with flavor and had a nice little kick. It’s a bit on the spicy side, but that just made it even better. Another 4 out of 5 for me!
Overall, this place hits all the marks for a casual, delicious seafood spot. Great food, great service, our server Emily T was awesome! She did an excellent job dealing with our family ( all seniors). The service (Emily T) makes you want to come back again. If you’re in the area and craving fresh seafood, great service, this is definitely the...
