Carlton House Apartment Motel — Hotel in Saint Pete Beach

We booked this hotel for a couple nights only. We arrived at about 630 and just caught the owner who checked us in. The staff was pleasant and check in was quick.||||The room was a 1BR condo with a separate bedroom and bathroom through the bedroom. Everything seemed clean. ||||The bedroom was a little small with 2 double beds pushed up against each wall. It was a bit clumsy getting into the far side of the bed. I wished I had a single queen bed instead. There was a TV in the bedroom. There was plenty of storage in the room for clothes and such||||The living area had a couch and recliner and medium sized TV. Both the living room and the bedroom had window AC units. They both seemed to work just fine. ||||The living area had a small kitchen area and dining table. The kitchen had pots and pans and coffee maker, microwave, and stuff, but we didn’t cook much. ||||The bathroom was medium small, but clean and functional. Lighting was fine.||||There were a few outlets for charging phones, but we could have used a couple more.||||The grounds were nice. The pool wasn’t huge, but it was clean. pool towels were provided. ||||The beach was a 5 minute walk away. So was the waffle house and the main road. The hotel was very convenient. ||||We were given a parking pass for one vehicle. ||||The hotel had wifi, Mostly strong signal, but we only got 2 bars some of the time at the end unit.||||Overall the stay was just fine. We booked at the Carlton House after having major difficulties with AirBnB. AirBnB had randomly cancelled our reservation that we had for 3 months, during the week of our arrival with NO reason. Trying to get in touch with someone that can help in customer service at that company is literally impossible so in turn, we were panicking about a place to stay! Luckily, a quick google search came back with the Carlton having a vacancy and after reading all of the rave reviews, we decided to call to make a reservation. Betty, the owner, was so helpful and we booked the last room that they had. It was one of the cute little independent standing cottages and was perfect for 2 of us! Spacious, very clean and we liked that there were beach chairs to borrow! We really enjoyed our stay here and cannot wait to come back! It was relaxing and quiet, the pool was perfect, and the location is great as it is close to the beach and so many restaurants! Staying here now for the first time. Staying in one of the cottages and we absolutely love it! Feels like we are staying in a friend's guest house, not a hotel. Yes the place is old but it very well maintained. Decorated with a cute beach theme. Wonderfully comfortable beds. Updated kitchen with nice counter, stainless steel mini fridge with separate freezer (not freezer inside fridge,) stove, coffee pot, microwave and all the dishes and cookware you could need (even tea kettle, colander, cutting board, scissors.) Everything is spotless. There are grills for use, onsite laundry, heated pool, cushioned loungers and chairs, umbrella tables and pool towels provided. Location is wonderful -- 1.5 blocks from beach and tons of nearby restaurants -- but somehow still quiet and peaceful. On my first day, I had the pool to myself and heard nothing but birds chirping. Heaven! Plenty of free parking too. Rates are excellent. I won't stay anywhere else now when we come to St. Pete Beach. What a find...
