We stayed in this hotel many times when it was the Red Lion but if I had known the changes this time, I would have booked elsewhere. While we checked in, the guest in front of us got a rate much better than we did, having booked in advance. Once in the room, I noticed that the floor had not been swept, drains were uncovered and dirty, toilet had hair and was stained/dirty. The room appeared to have just been painted, as it smelled strongly of paint. The staff had left the pool open well past 10pm so guests could be heard in the hallways most of the night. Breakfast was in a small room with burnt sausage, burnt eggs, thick clumpy gravy, no juices or drinks other than water and coffee, and everyone was crowded trying to get their food to take back to their rooms because there were no tables to sit. The guests were talking about a fight between kitchen staff right before we showed up and staff all looked like they had just got out of bed and threw on the oldest and dingiest clothes they had. The gentleman making the made-to-order eggs asked "What you need?" in a monotone voice; while people asked for omelets, he made scrambled eggs for everyone lol I should have taken pics of breakfast but we chose to go somewhere local instead. Oh, and a hand towel still had a booger from the previous guests "/

This Hotel is one of the better ones I've stayed at that is part of the Choice Hotel brand. The staff are polite, friendly, and willing to help. The hotel seems to be in good shape other than some questionable furniture. It appears to have just been renovated. This Hotel isn't the best, but it definitely isn't the worst. The time could have been cleaned better. There is a pullout sofa in my room and it had all kinds of trash (which i forgot to take a pic of) under the cushions. Same with the chair. There is an autumn/stool in the room that is nasty. Looks like it has had all kinds of things spilled on it. Send like it could have been thrown away a long time ago after the first time someone threw up on it.... 😂. There were a couple towels in my room that were stained. The room i was in 106 sucked. The door leading outside closes so loud and people slam it at all hours of the night and day. Y'all could do a lot better cleaning these rooms. Also the sink was broken in my room. Why would you not replace that? Are y'all trying to wait for a guest to completely break it so you can charge them for it? 🤔 Also whoever was the genius is who mounted the iron holder right under the shelf in the closet deserves a metal. Who TF does that? Get it together people.

Feel bad to leave this not so great review. But I have stayed at this property at least 30 times in the past 3 years, so I feel I can give a real review. I must say each time I stay I find the hotel getting more and more in need of some real TLC. The rooms are dated , smell and need a real good cleaning and dusting. Usually my stays are pleasant , but this last stay was just horrible. My room smelled terribly, such that it caused me to wake up , so after doing some middle of the night research, I found old meat and potatoes in the not plugged in refrigerator, so when I open the door of the fridge, the smell that came out of it almost knocked me off my feet! Needless to say, did not sleep well with the smell that reeked in the room.

Tried to order a cobb salad in the downstairs restaurant, and was told they were out of lettuce , no lettuce in the whole hotel..what a let down , being that it was late and I was tired ,I ordered something else, but that turned out to not be good at all , some old lumpy refried beans, that you could tell had been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days, and had been nuked. The luke warm rice was salty and full of black pepper, the chicken quesadilla was okay...but nothing to write home about.

The morning breakfast use to be nice, but you better get there early, because when it runs out of food, its out of food. I got there at 8:30 AM, and this not so happy attendant, asked for my breakfast voucher , and I did not have it on hand , nevertheless, she stood waiting while I search my 3 suitcases for it, I admit, I probably should have had it ready, but I had already been at the hotel for the last 2 days, and didn't think about it that morning, while the attendant just stands there waiting for me to retrieve it, I felt like she thought I was trying to scam a free breakfast, finally finding it, gave it to the attendant, who then rudely says the buffet was about to close and they are not restocking. Its only 8:30 am, and buffet is suppose to run until 9:00 am? I wish she would have told me that before I ransacked my luggage. anyways, the buffet turned out to be much of nothing, got me an apple ,drank some soda, and went to McDonald's.

I did share my thoughts with the manager at the desk , she was very sweet, but at this point what can she do? The bad stay had already been done , the place still had no lettuce, the buffet was out of food , and room 218 still smelled, and thankfully I was checking out. Well that's my two cents on this, what use to be a really nice...

My family stayed at the Clarion hotel in San Angelo. We had never stayed at a Clarion hotel, however it was listed as a choice hotel so we thought it would be a good hotel. In my job I travel about three weeks out of the month and we have two children that play competitive softball. I have stayed in a lot of hotels, this one was one of the worst stays I've had.

When we first arrived we made our way to the front desk to check in, we were 20 minutes early and were told that we could only check in if we paid an additional $25. I chose not to pay and had my family sit on the couch in the lobby to wait the 20 minutes. While sitting there we watched two members of our team and another family check in. The two members of our team were not charged the additional fee, yet they were checked in early. When those three people were checked in the other woman at the desk called us forward and checked us in a few minutes early.

When we first arrived to the room we noticed that there had been a leak and the ceiling had a large stain. The room was large and the air conditioner worked well. As we settled into the room we noticed that one of the pillows had a large yellow stain across most of the pillow. I started checking all of the pillows to make sure they were all clean. All of the other pillows were good. The thin red cloth that is kept at the end of the bed also had stain on it. I will not assume what is was but it was noticeable and white. As we had found so many problems I decided to fully check the beds. When we pulled down the  comforter they were both dirty. On had what appeared to be feces and the other had blood on it. We tried to call the front desk, however the phone did not work. We notified the head of housekeeping, but no one ever came to fix it. While the head of housekeeping and another housekeeper were in the room changing the bed linens, they did fix the television. While the head woman was very rude even slamming our door on the way out the other housekeeper was very helpful and friendly. We received no apologies, no one asked if we would like a different room and there was no acknowledgement that there was a problem.

I was so disappointed with the service and also the cleanliness...
