My wife and I were recently patrons here as we sent off the middle child to the Navy. We stayed here because my wife had stayed here moons ago on a business trip and she told me about her experience, we also made the decision to stay here as our daughter was staying at the Drury that has m.e.ps. closer to the airport which is close to this location and would help mom feel more at ease the last night before boot camp. I am a Former Marine and value high standards from both people and establishments! I had never stayed at a Drury before and was shocked that they had the pool inside, which was nice as we unexpectedly had a record setting heatwave in San Antonio this past Weekend! Upon arrival, parking was accessible...plenty of spots and very conveniently located to both expressway and heb. I would say restaurants also but to my shock...the Drury provided complimentary breakfast, Dinner and happy hour which conveniently started when we arrived on our first day! You receive a voucher along with your room card for Three free cocktails or beers per adult in your room. I had never heard of a hotel doing this before. I am originally from California and have stayed in many fancy hotels before and never received this kind of treatment before! The entire staff was competent, polite, helpful, resourceful, knowledgeable, courteous but above all, very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Needless to say, I was beyond impress with this place! Once checking out...it took my wife and I a couple of days to get home from our proud but sad trip to see our Daughter off to bootcamp. Once we got home I realised that I had forgot to check the closet upon departure and forgot my Baseball Jersey which was a commemorate Kobe Bryant Los Angeles Dodgers Home Jersey which in most other cases would have been lost forever but not at the Drury! I spoke with their staff and was told I would receive a call back once lost and found look for my Item. I was given a call back from a gentleman by the name of Andrew Tennant...he was very helpful and said that even though his logs were not fully available yet for items from the past few days he would personally check himself and return my call. Within the next five minutes I received a call from Andrew and was told that not only was indeed my item there but that it was OK and he would be able to either hold it for me or mail it to me! Come to find out that Andrew was not only a great employee of Drury but The man in Charge of it! He was very humble and courteous to me and as promised my jersey arrived today via ups. I cannot explain my gratitude to this establishment not only for their extremely great hospitality, but for having the entire staff which was hired under the watch of Mr. Andrew Tennant which demonstrated to my wife and I that they were full of workers with Integrity!!! That is a word that is lacking everywhere now days but was a word that saved countless lives while in the Corps! Needless to say, we thank The Drury at Medical Center for a great stay and great customer hospitality but for letting us know that there are still great establishments with exceptional workers that we commend and give us a glimmer of hope in humanity! Thank you Again to the entire staff and Mr. Andrew Tennant...
Read moreWhere do I start. I don't even check out until tomorrow morning, but I just couldn't wait. It has been on my mind since day 1 of check-in to leave a great review. It took that short period of time to leave me totaly amazed and spoiled. This has been THE BEST hotel I have stayed in, and I have stayed in many higher end hotels. Me, my kids, my brother and his kids, my neices and nephews, are staying 3 nights here, just finishing up a Sea World and Aquatica Fathers Day weekend visit. I Booked on hotels.com. Let's start out by saying the service is consistently impeccable. The amenities with free more than basic breakfast, dinners, drinks, with EVERY AMENITY actually Open. So many perks here, indoor pool, hot tub and GATED PARKING, computer room. Bar, and ALL evaluators Working, with one additional elevator on each end of each hall as well as the 2 main elevators at the center ( other end ) on every floor. Fountain drinks and snacks, for your duration on the first floor, and the staff is the friendliest I have ever experienced, EVERYONE, even the room service workers, every songle day so far. At other places I've stayed, they don't even speak to me. The hotel is spotless. NO odor and is SO beautiful and all updated, lobby and Rooms. I have never had this experience. I am torn because I love downtown hotels with amazing views, but I don't think I could stay anywhere else when I am in town. The convenience of a walking distance grocery store, liquor store, fast food, restaurants, hookah bars, and much more. This is the One and only for me in San Antonio. Hands down. You win Drury. This location specifically. PLEASE, believe the reviews from others on This one. That is what initially drew me here. the amount of 10.0 reviews on hotels.com, as well as the google reviews. I couldn't agree more. I CAN'T find one complaint. I really took time with this review because of the fact that EVERY staff member here goes out of their way, to make your day, so they totally deserve it the time it took to type this. Thank you all so much for this experience. You've...
Read moreHow did I not know about this chain before!! Not only do they offer free breakfast like everyone else, but did you know they feed you at night too?
Our check in was smooth & quick. Our room was was typical with desk & chair, mini fridge, & a comfy chair. The bathroom was small, adequate for most but anyone in a wheelchair would have trouble. Our room faced the highway, but no noise issues the 3 nights we were there. Very comfy bed & pillows.
Around 4:30 or so, they pop fresh popcorn & open the soda dispenser. Both of which are free & unlimited. The dinner begins at 5:30, ends at 7. The main dish varied nightly as the soup, but they always had salad, hotdogs & nachos. Our 1st night they had fajitas, not bad, 2nd was pork sliders. It's against my religion to eat pork so that night was disappointing, but our last night they had meatballs & mashed potatoes which was awesome! I'm not sure why some complained about veggies. There was always one offered. Try to think outside the box....when soup is chili, have a chili-dog, use the shredded cheese with your salad or fajitas, etc. ~ take some butter from breakfast to heat up for your popcorn as it's only salted.
Now, if you are a drinker, you will be happy to know that during dinner they give you 3 free alcohol drinks. I saw beer, wine & even mixed drinks. No frozen.
I am a deep researcher when selecting a hotel. I found this area to be considered safer on a map. They have gated parking if you want & on security on-site. I read they have had break-ins, but it was rampant & that can happen in your own driveway. It was very clean & we didn't see any bugs. It wasn't the cheapest among the chain (there are a lot of Dury Inns in SA) but paying a few dollars more was worth it based on my research.
Dury Inns has gained my loyalty! The free unlimited breakfast & dinner saved us a lot of money since we normally only eat 2 meals. It allowed us to do things that we would normally skip due...
