Pros: -Decent Pools (indoor and outdoor) -Gym/fitness Center -Sauna -Daily housekeeping in room (make bed, empty trash, fresh towels, etc) Note: Daily housekeeping is supposed to be included. However, after the 2nd day out of a 9 day stay we quit recieving this. The hosuekeeping for the 12th floor is lazy. On a daily basis I had to involve the front desk to request the daily house keeping even though this is supposed to be a standard part of their experience. -Central location -Included Toiletries -ATM in lobby
Cons: -Poor housekeeping services provide versus what is promised. Inconsistent housekeeping services; had to involve management to make housekeeping actually happen. -Thieving housekeeping -Poor continental breaks consisting of only bacon, sausage, waffle, bread items, pasteries, cerial, egg, juice/offee; $20.00 a person regardless of how much anyone eats. -Carpets dirty in common areas -Visible dust -Small rooms -Very ugly deep green wall paint -Some elevator buttons don't work forcing you to have to wait for another one to come -Parking lot under construction -Unstable internet connection
Overall experience began with our arrival at 4pm after two long flights in only to be told the room is not yet ready, despite having landed to a text message saying that the room is ready and we can check in at 2pm. We had to wait 30 minute more before the room became available. The promised daily housekeeping did not happen consisteny and I had to complain to management daily. Even after management said they had addressed it with the housekepeing supervisor, or by putting a "note" in the chart, it still did not happen unless I walked to the front desk daily and said "we are leaving for x-time, and I want the hosuekeeping". It is dissapoining to come back to the room at 5pm or so after a long day and then not have a made bed, no clean towels/wash cloth, and overflowing trashcans. We purchased some premium chocolate during our first day from a nearby store and opened it on the 5th day only to find half of them missing. Housekeeping staff are the only possible people who could have eaten the chocolate doing so by opening the cardboard container it was in, and then closing it again. Central location is convenient to exploring San Antonio and easy access to the nearby Freedman convention center. I would not stay here again, and I could not say that I was wowed enough by this hotel to be committed to returning to it in the future. The poor and thieving housekeeping seriously lowers the score for this hotel. Additionally, one of the nights a fire alarm went off at 7:00am in the morning for the whole floor/building. We walked all downstairs only to have staff appearing to be confused and not providing any guidance as to if it was a false alarm...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE, you have been warned!!! This will be our last stay at this hotel. I used to work here when it was an Omni hotel and it had gotten so bad now that it is The Westin. This particular stay was the worst and last straw. Every time we stay here it’s a terrible experience but we keep giving them another chance. First off, the website online states a 3pm check in time. We drove over 6 hours and arrived at 3pm. We were told they just changed the check in to 4pm two months ago, which is when I booked. We had dinner plans with reservations with another party that we did not make because after an hour and a half we still didn’t have a room. There were also about 20 other persons there waiting for rooms after 4:30pm. Since we had to wait for our room, I asked the concierge what time the bar opened. He said 3pm. I go to the bar to order a beer and was rudely told by the guy behind the bar that he is still setting up and I would have to wait another 15 mins. It was 3:20pm. We finally talked with a manager and got our room sometime after 4:30pm. The interaction with the manager was probably the only good experience we had. Our room smelled bad and definitely needs to be updated. The shower did not drain and we all had to shower in ankle deep water. We asked the front desk if a maintenance man could unclog or fix the drain and no one ever showed up. The second night we needed shower towels. We called and was told they are completely booked and it would be over an hour to get us towels. They told us it was be easier to go downstairs to the front desk and ask for some there. We did and was rudely told they didn’t have towels. We told the lady at the front desk that we were instructed to go to there for them and she then asked another lady if there were towels and she said yes. Why would you say you don’t have towels if you’re not 100% sure. All it took was a couple steps to walk and check. Not one time were we greeted with a smile and everyone working there needs some training on how you treat people especially when accommodating people is your business. This is absolutely not a 4 star hotel like they claim. Westin San Antonio North, you need to update your website and to achieve a 4-star rating, a hotel must offer upscale comfort and amenities, including spacious rooms, multiple restaurants, spa facilities, fitness centers, and high standards of service and cleanliness. This hotel does not offer upscale comfort and amenities, multiple restaurants, and definitely does not have high standard of service and...
Read moreThe hotel location was great. Close to dinning, shopping and the highway. The hotel itself was clean and well staffed. They have one of those BIG Revolving doors at the entrance that of course had a 10 year old kid going round in cirles inside it. I was immediately jealous. Check in was super easy and they offer bottled water to bonvoy members. The hotel design itself is quite dated. Don't get me wrong, its classy...but 1985 classy. This used to be the Omni hotel years back. It also used to have a decent restaurant called Bollo's which is now the breakfast buffet area. No more restaurant. Although you can order food from the bar and eat pretty much anywhere in the lobby area. Which has plenty of seating. The bar staff is super nice and they make great drinks. The gym is well equipped with treadmills, ellipticals and weights. Towels and water are on hand too. There is an indoor pool and a sauna. Yes, an actual sauna. So you can sweat out all those Riverwalk margaritas. As for the room...we had some issues with grime in the shower and some dead bug parts in the little mini fridge cooler thing. So we switched rooms. The staff helped out with that. The next room was much cleaner. The rooms are exactly as outdated as the rest of the hotel but they were once again...Classy Outdated, so it was still kinda nice. Imagine the Overlook Hotel from the Shining...but without all the horror and demons and murder. The room had your basic coffee machine, TV, water and a little mini fridge cooler thing. I say "Cooler thing" because it was one of those drink coolers you get at Costco. It was not a true fridge. Do not put leftovers in there because they will not stay cold. Also....no microwave! If you wanna warm something up, you put it on the 120 degree window seal like a normal Texan. Or just leave it in the mini fridge where it will also stay nice and warm. Breakfast was decent. Bacon, eggs, sausage and a handful of other continental style options. I don't think the buffet is worth $20 though. If you get the room Upgrade with the breakfast included its not bad. But there is a Breakfast place about a block away that is really good called First Watch. We also got a free drink and half appetizer in the bar area every night at 5pm because we were Bonvoy members. That was nice. Overall...I would stay there again...especially since its one of the safer and better priced hotels in the Med Center area. Its like a 1999 Mercedes...yeah its old...a little beat up....and had a paint job or two.....but its...
