Worst night of sleep. The other guests were loud, not to mention people outside being loud all night. This was the dirtiest most run down room I've ever experienced and they said they upgraded our room. The woman who checked us in was the only good thing about this place. She was really nice. I booked a single and she gave us a double with a balcony. Was then hit with a deposit that wasn't listed in the booking... It was double what the room cost. Everything was dirty and smelled mildewy/moldy. The doors, floors, bathroom (no toilet paper holder, broken switches, filthy), the furniture, Windows and Mirrors. The drawers would not close so we kept running into them. The door barely made it past the bed. Neither of us could really sleep.. it felt unsafe. The TV had no remote. When we asked for one the guy in the lobby gave us a pin number that didn't work on anything. You could turn it on by hand but that was the only button it had. No coffee maker, couldn't even make a cup of tea to calm down. The pictures they listed must be old af. Nothing looks like the pictures not even the dang lobby. Would not recommend for lone travelers, safety wise... Wouldn't recommend to anyone because it's dirty and run down. This wasn't the cheapest option in the area so i was really shocked. It seemed historic and charming... It's historic and filthy.

Stayed 2 nights this past weekend. The location is perfect if you want to be near the airport & not far from the beaches. It’s also in Little Italy which is a great, walkable neighborhood. Those are the pros, otherwise, this place doesn’t have anything else going for it. People must have weak olfactory senses if they don’t smell the moldy/sewage odor when you walk into the first floor (which is separate from the office). The person at the front desk was completely lackluster with a “meh” attitude upon check-in & there’s a $100 deposit fee (so be prepared) that you’ll get back at checkout - I suppose they have some guests who break things… evident in the room I stayed in, #304, which had a bedside wall lamp that was about to fall off & the bathroom vent was also dangling. The tub was rust eaten at the bottom, ceiling paint bubbling as though there was a leak upstairs, the windows don’t close all the way, & were full of cobwebs. Add to that the noisy a/c unit spewing moist cool air & the noisy traffic; even my noise canceling earbuds didn’t help with the volume as high as I could stand it, playing white noise so I could sleep. I will not stay here again.

Don’t let the other reviews deter you! This is a very nice hotel. The building may be older, but the quality of the stay was still wonderful. Front desk and staff were very friendly! Parking is a bit tight, but if you’re used to city parking it’ll be easy! Larger vehicles may have a harder time parking but not impossible. There is street parking. We drove a Toyota Corolla and had no issues. The bed was comfortable, room and interior of hotel was clean! Windows open for ventilation in rooms! Room has a fridge and microwave! We’ve stayed in SD before with no fridge, this was def an amenity we were happy to see! Smart TVs connected to all streaming services. WiFi connection and SUPER close to Little Italy! We love to find our hotels within walking distance of all the things! We will def stay here again. We booked this room last minute to view wedding venues and I’m happy with our stay! Thank you Harbor View for the accommodations and your welcoming hospitality!

This place has absolutely no morals!!! I wouldn't stay here if it were the last place to stay in CA. I still can't get a clear answer as to what is the nightly rate, what rate did I pay on the many nights I have stayed. Can someone please give me a printout and explanation of charges? That is the question I am going to ask them again today, if they still can't then I will need to contact my attorneys because by law they have to! When I first arrived I paid for two night, plus a 50 dollar deposit in the grand total of 184.64. The third night I paid in cash, then I paid for two more days, but since it was St. Patrick's Day weekend they said the rate would be more, and it was at 298.24. Okay, so if you are keeping up the rate went from 92.84 per night to 298.24. Okay, now that St. Patrick's day weekend rate seems high, but one would only expect the rate to go Dow the following week, which I was still needing a place to stay. So, I went Dow to the office and told them I wanted to go ahead and book my room for the following week leaving Friday morning. I asked multiple times, what was the rate? I was never told what the rate was going to be until she took my card and ran it for almost 1500.00!!! Wow, I was floored. So, I divided that new number by the five days remains and that comes to 291 dollars and some cents per night. What kind of place do they think this is? I will be going down to speak with the staff requesting a printout of the charges as well as payments made by cash and credit, and either there will be a major change in the rate I am being charges, or I will request a refund for the three days left they have already received the money for. That should be a refund in the amount of one thousand dollars, bottom line I shouldn't have to be doing any of this stay far far away from...

I am changing my review status on this establishment initially I have given all five stars and lots of great review. It has been a while since I have been there but today I experience a young Caucasian woman, and no this has no bearing on anything because I am also Caucasian, threaten me with violence while I was merely sitting on a stoop outside of their establishment waiting for my Uber. She said no the cops would not be called and I already knew that, she said she would get security to remove me if necessary. I showed no signs of aggression in any way shape or form and told her of course yes ma'am I will be promised I was just sitting here waiting for my ride, however, I know for a fact that security wouldn't come out and physically remove me especially while being so compliant and I told her as such. She then looked at me and said " oh really? " And commenced to dry fire a stun gun that was hidden behind her back. I thought the act of aggression was absolutely unnecessary and may I may even say keeping a weapon hidden may or may not be illegal but certainly wasn't appreciated zero stars for this place if I could give it negative Stars I would shame on them. I live downtown and used to live in Little Italy what has happened to that place it used to be the gem of downtown now the rest of this place sorry to say I am a native...
