Truly the worst ever stay. The first thing you need to know about this area is that there is a sewage crisis going on for months near the Mexican border: The border and the Tijuana River are less than a half mile away, their sewage treatment plant is broken down, so all the sewage and chemicals from Tijuana is flowing into the river and across the border. San Ysidro, Chula Vista, and Imperial Beach all smell like raw sewage, 24 hours a day right now. Imperial Beach is currently closed due to the sewage flowing into the ocean nearby. Don't make the same mistake I did, if you are coming to San Diego, stay as far north as possible, and do not go near the border. When you come out of your hotel in the morning, you car will be covered in dew that is brown colored due to the sewage particles in the air. This situation is a major news story in San Diego, look it up before traveling. As far as this hotel in particular, it's hard to imaging that Motel 6/Studio 6 would want its name associated with this unholy mess. Please see my photos. The door has been bashed in by police or gangs so many times that it no longer fits on the frame, allowing light, sounds, and sewage smells/particles to easily pass thru, contaminating everything in the room. The door security lock is cracked. The falsely advertised laundry consists of 2 dryers and 1 washer with "out of service" signs. The one working washing machine is filthy. My towels & sheets were mostly soiled looking. The floor is a type of tile which does not appear to ever have been mopped or cleaned at all. The bedspread had holes burned in it. The refrigerator was wet inside and had mosquitos in it. The coffee maker was also full of old water. The television has lines all across the screen. On our last night, there was a guy right outside our door installing window tint in his car (??!!) until 2:30 in the morning, blasting his radio, using power tools, and loudly talking on his phone. Since our door doesn't seal (as noted) we could not escape every sound, and of course, the sewage smell coming in. I don't even think this guy was a hotel guest, just someone in the neighborhood who new he could do whatever he wanted on the property until as late as he wanted.Don't book this hotel! Avoid San Ysidro, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach until the sewage...

We checked in around 1am on a Friday and checked out Sunday between 9-10AM. Between that time this was a fiasco. The people working were nice enough but completely unable to resolve any of the myriad issues with the room and were either uninterested in or unable to make even the most basic attempts to resolve any of the maintenance issues – which were:
The room upon entered was moist, the longer we were in the room the more damp things seemed to be. As mentioned above we checked in at 1AM tired from a delayed flight and immediately put our items away hanging up suit and dresses and climbed in the bed. THE BED WAS DAMP In the morning, the clothes we hung up – DAMP The shower, there was red mold between the tiles of the shower. A very sus dark red stain on the wall The drain was filthy The base of the shower was rusty, the floor was damp and the shower was dripping before we even used it Sat on the toilet and immediately noticed a raised and moldy bathroom door – BLACK MOLD Went to iron my dress and the ironing board was dirty and stained, the board itself would not stand on its own The iron left residue on my dress After all the above, we went to the front desk and the man said he would have maintenance come up. About 40 minutes later maintenance came but did not come into the room he said they had a part coming from China for the shower but it had not arrived so there was nothing to be done. He said he could not do anything about the mold on the door and did not even try to resolve the other issues.
I went back to the front desk to ask for a new room and they would not change our rooms. We left and when we came back I sent my husband for towels and to ask about the room switch, no one was there. He went back 15 minutes later and there was a line. He went back 40 minutes after that and was able to get towels but still unable to get a room change or anywhere on the various issues we faced.
The event for our trip spanned Saturday afternoon – evening. We went back into the room late night Saturday, and it was so damp our belongings...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel on several occasions throughout the past five months. My family and I are moving into a home that we purchased, which was not ready to live in and we chose this Hotel to stay in while we wait for our house. Great area and a very pleasant stay. The hotel has kitchens in rooms if you choose which is wonderful for those traveling with families with pets. The price was very affordable and the location is great since it's near a mall with lots of restaurants to dine at. The front desk service is great depending on who is at the desk. The majority of front desk workers are very pleasant and helpful and eager to be of service to customers. But then there are a few who seem unknowledgeable of how to serve and relay important information to customers. The service provided by the service workers is not the best at this hotel. My family and I have no problem cleaning after ourselves but most of the workers who prepare and clean the rooms do not speak English and they do not clean the rooms when requested and when the rooms are "Finally" cleaned it's not done properly. The guest servicers seem to only cater to those who speak their language and provide the minimum to "No Service" to the other guests. Towels are given reluctantly and with attitude when requested. Even though I enjoyed the stay and plan to return the issues I am presenting at this hotel in this post is to let them know the areas of their business that need to be adjusted and fixed to avoid them losing customers in the...
