I took my parents to visit San Francisco and booked a room in Hotel Fusion for one night for 184USD. After the city sight seeing, when we checked in, it was about 10:30 pm. When we entered the first room, we found it was too small, so I called the front desk to see if there's any available room that we can switch to. In the beginning, Josh (the night staff) told me he can give me another room for only 25 USD plus tax extra, but then the two rooms are in different level. I asked if the two rooms can be at the same level, he asked me to return the original key and gave me another one, so I got two rooms at the same level. We got the key from the front desk and he gave me another agreement to put my signature on it, I confirmed with him that is the total price only around 25 USD more and he said yes. My dad was there to double check. The next day, when we checking out, the staff at the front desk charged me additional 184+25!! She said it's for the second room. I wanted to talk to Josh to know what's going on. She just said Josh is out of duty and she couldn't call him. After talking to the manager, they agreed to give me a 30 dollar discount and remove the 25 dollars. Therefore, at last, we paid for 300+ for just one night. If we had this much budget, we could've gone to stay at Hilton or any other way better hotels!!! I tried to call Josh at that night, but undoubtedly he just said he was not wrong.
Besides, the unexpected charge, the morning staff and the manager was not friendly at all. We are from Taiwan and they are from China. When we asked to see the manager, she told me the manager can't speak Chinese and not willing to call the manager down. That wasn't very nice.
About the room, they were small, dim, looks a little bit dirty and noisy. There were construction at 6 am and the house keeping started to knock your door at 8 am. A woman knocked for two sounds and entered my room directly!! That is absurd!! Also, the breakfast sucks. There is only one room about the size of a little garage. No tables and chairs for you to have the breakfast there. When we came to the room at 8:50, the food was almost gone. And at 8:55, a staff came in and started to clean up. He closed the door and there were other guests got up late and knocking the door asked to come in. He just ignored them and stopped us to open the door for them.
Overall, although this hotel has pretty good location, I strongly not recommend anyone to stay here. The price is high, the room is bad, the staff is unpleasant, the breakfast is disappointed. It is the most awful...
Read moreWe finished our across the usa roadtrip in SF and spent 2 night in Hotel Fusion.
The hotel is located downtown. All the shopping is close, ton of restaurants around as well. All public transport is just a minute walk away, makes it really easy to get to pretty much anywhere. The hotel is just a few hundred feet from Market street where all the big brands are. And on the nice side of Market street. We went to a walk south west on Market street and went through some pretty nasty neighborhood. Again, the hotel is in a nice area. Very busy, lot of people, lot of cars, but nice. Our room was on the top floor and did not look onto the street so cannot comment on noise level.
Parking is AWFUL. The hotel charges $45 per night for parking. 45 USA dollars. You can get a room in Luxor in Vegas and still have some change for that money. We needed to realize parking in the area in general very expensive but come on. This is daytime robbery. If you drive and need a place for your car use the Ellis O'Farrel parking lot. It is about a 15 second walk from the hotel. Still an awful $34 for 24 hours. This is the cheapest I could find.
Check in was quick and easy. They were expecting us, everything was prepared. The girl at the reception was friendly and nice.
The room was on the 5th floor. It was clean. The whole hotel seems clean and well looked after though. The room on the other hand was small. Very very small. A small double bed and thats is. All the space is taken. This is the smallest room I have ever slept in. There is a tiny bathroom, flat tv on the wall, a safe(!!) and a fridge. There is also some drinks and snacks in the room to buy. Can come handy :) The bed was very comfortable, had a really good sleep. It was so hot in the room though. The window cannot be opened, there is a loud air conditioner available. Switch it on before you go to sleep. Let it cool down the room and switch off.
There is breakfast available. It is served in a tiny room on the 5th floor. You go in, pick up what you want and have it in your room. Trays are provided. Bagels, pastries, coffee, tea, juices etc. We hears people complaining about having to eat it in their room, but come on! It is free, you do not pay for it extra. As far as I am concerned I booked room only and was given free breakfast. It was fresh, and it was good. I had it in my room but who cares!?
So it was a nice stay. Nice, well looked after building, good location, friendly staff,...
Read moreYikes! Paper thin walls... To the point where we could hear normal volume conversations in adjacent rooms. Also, we were facing the street and heard music from a restaurant/bar until 11:00pm. An interior room would have been better. We called about switching rooms but were told there wasn't one in the interior available.|There were bed bug traps on the mattress protector zippers. Maybe it's comforting that they're keeping an eye out? I found it to be disgusting and tacky to come across them. I usually do a quick check when I get into hotel rooms and was shocked to see them. Our mattress protectors had major black sharpe markings. There was actual writing in sharpe (room numbers and smiley faces?), so I didn't think it was bedbug frass.|Our room smelled clean, and was decently clean, but there were a few spots overlooked and dirty. ... Example: above the door in the bathroom was covered in hair.|Everyone in our group whacked their leg or toe on the beds/furniture at least once. One managed to ding up their shin really good. The rooms are extremely cramped and the bed frames are low to the ground and bulky. Watch out, they'll get ya! No desk or work space in any of the rooms we occupied, but I honestly don't know where they'd go!|The lobby was very classy, but the bar/restaurant/etc. weren't open. We were told they've been closed since Covid. |The valet drivers were extremely kind. Plan on waiting around 20 minutes to have your car brought up though... One way streets and traffic are the culprit. |Staff was very helpful on restaurant recommendations. Tad's was a hit for dinner.|This part of SF has been overtaken by homeless. It's rough. Our group stayed here after a Giants day game and walked to the hotel... It was 1.5 miles. Easy walk, but I wouldn't want to do it after dark or without a group of people during the day. We weren't threatened, but were awkwardly approached several times on the walk and very close to the hotel. |We'll look elsewhere next time. Lots of red flags in the reviews that we should...
