Wait until their construction is done before booking here. We have mixed feelings about this Hyatt location.
Bad: the exterior renovations didn’t bother us in our room because our interior room didn’t have the scaffolding outside the window like the exterior rooms do, but our vehicle was parked in their valet garage and didn’t move from the garage for the entirety of our stay, but had concrete water splotches all over it when we received it upon checkout. I called to see how they would offer to make up for this (concrete is acidic and is corrosive on auto paint and even windshields). We were offered a discount on the valet fee, which knocks the total valet fee of $130 down to $90. Considering that one of the conveniences of valet parking is to have your vehicle returned in the exact same condition as what you dropped it off, I would think a meager $40 would suffice if it was simply a bit dirtier than when it was dropped off to cover a standard car wash, but this isn’t dust or dirt- cement is CORROSIVE and damaging to a vehicle! I was polite with the man I spoke to on the phone but expressed my dissatisfaction, and was told he would look into it further and call me back. As of right now I have not yet received that call, but it’s only been a couple hours since I checked out (sitting at a car wash now to see if this detailed wash is sufficient).
The other thing I didn’t like about our stay that is worthy of sharing is that we had the do not disturb sign on our door while we were out and about so housekeeping wouldn’t come in. We returned to our room last night to find the do not disturb sign was no longer hanging from the handle- it was inside the room, and housekeeping had come in and refreshed towels and made the bed at some point during the day. I checked our belongings and nothing was missing or out of place, but what is the point of a do not disturb sign if it’s ignored?
As for the room itself, I don’t have many major complaints: the only big downfall is that none of the USB ports worked for charging our devices, and one even had black electrical tape over it. The extremely shallow sink makes it difficult to wash your hands without splashing water on the counter, the waterfall shower head without a standard shower head is odd (I don’t wash my hair daily, and this style makes it impossible to keep your hair dry in the shower, but that’s simply a personal preference, others may love this style shower head). And last thing about the room is the pillows- they are the down pillows that flatten to nothing and offer no support. I know they are “fancier”, but my neck likes a little support while I sleep. The bed itself was perfect.
The fees are pretty standard from what I can see of other local hotels, but I still think it’s ridiculous of any hotel to tack on amenity fees above the advertised room price. If you’re a nicer hotel, it’s gonna cost more than a motel 6, so lump those fees into the room rate and be more transparent about the overall cost. But hey, that’s not how businesses run, this one review or even the thousands of reviews with this same complaint aren’t going to change how they break down the hotel charges here or elsewhere.
I can’t speak much on the amenities- we checked out the pool area and it was clean and stocked with towels, hot tub seemed hot, but we didn’t get in the pool (3 feet deep throughout) nor the hot tub. We also didn’t eat at the restaurant or have breakfast in the hotel, so I can’t speak on either of those.
Check in was good- we requested early check in, and while we waited in the lobby upon arrival for a bit, they were able to allow us to check in early and the people we spoke with at the front desk were friendly. Valet attendants were also polite and friendly.
I did notice that they don’t enforce rule of no smoking on property- we are smokers and went out to the sidewalk away from entrances to smoke, but others were smoking not far from the entrance to the lobby.
Overall, great accommodations, just not during the construction, and don’t leave valuables...

Background Wife and I booked a staycation for us and our toddler. We’d been to the hotel once before and know the rooms are tiny and not suitable for the 3 of us. Therefore, we called months in advance to inquire about the possibility suite upgrade which we told was reserved for us (for a fee per night which we agreed to pay).
Fast forward to check in day. Wife calls around 3:30 to see if our room is ready. We’re told that it’s not as there is a globalist in the room. Cool, no problem, we’ve been globalists in the past and know you get a guaranteed 4pm check out. We decide to make the drive over (40 mins) and upon arrival are told the guest still hasn’t left. It’s a little weird as it’s after 4pm but we assume they’re cleaning the room. Not but 5 minutes later we’re told, sorry, the globalist has decided to stay the night and the suite is no longer available. What? The suite you’ve confirmed to us 2x now, including an hour ago, is no longer available to us? And you just learned this in the 5 minutes that we’re here checking in?
So what’s the next step? Do you have another actual suite for us? Nope we’re told. We’ll put you in a “junior suite” that has a king and a double. It’s the only room available at the time we’re told (lies). And as a bonus for our mess up here’s a $10 credit to our over priced restaurant. THANKS!
We head up to the room to see if it will work for us (which I was doubtful of) and to no one’s surprise it’s a shoebox. My son’s travel crib wouldn’t have even fit in the bathroom. We call the Hyatt line to see if they can get us into another hotel (which they can’t because it’s 5pm Friday) when Mitchell, the manager on duty calls. He offers us the “junior king suite.” Weird, thought that’s what I was in. Says it’s basically the same room, no double bed, higher ceilings (woohoo!), newer fixtures, and he’ll walk us over to see it. We’re also promised the suite the next night (heard this promise before). Told him I’d let him know and ended the call.
The entire experience was made worse by the way the front desk agent acted towards us. Like we were being unreasonable that we wanted the room that we had reserved and HE confirmed multiple times.
Just poor business practices and a way to alienate customers loyal to the brand. Next time I’ll stay at the Regency Embarcadero, one of my favorite hotels...
Read moreThere was high levels of repeat cash debit transactions taken from my account every day since i checked into hyatt centric. This left myself and my family with zero balance in my account to enjoy our holiday.myself and my family saved for years to bring our 12yr old son to san francisco to visit alcatraz island .this has been a dream for my son for many years and he is also autistic so this was a very difficult situation for him to understand that all our holiday spending money had been taken by the hotel due to an error with the hotels sytem. This caused a great deal of upset and distress to not only my son but myself and my partner as we had to try to explain the situation to our son as to why his spending money for his dream tour of alcatraz island was all gone .it also left us as a family unable to enjoy our holiday and the freedom to spend our money as we intended to and to do the things we had intended to do while in san francisco.Very unsatisfied with the hyatt centric after the 1st nights stay due to the above stated situation we feel this situation completley ruined our sons dream holiday and caused undue distress and left us feeling helpless and hopeless. as parents of an autistic child life is difficult and challenging enough for both parent and child without having to deal with the added distress of loosing all our holiday money on top and we feel our holiday experience was ruined. It was also my sons 1st time flying as was mine too.we wanted to experience this for the 1st time together and cherish the memories of flying together and visiting his dream destination. We feel this situation had a major negative impact on the quality of our holiday and the memories we intended to make together as a family that unfortunatley was impossible to attain due to all our money being taken from my account.i hope that the hyatt centric ensures this never happens to another family as it wasnt just our family affected this happened to several other people staying at the same time. I hope lessons are learned and no one has to experience what we did...
