I wanna start off by saying how awesome this place is. I still think it’s worth 5 stars regardless of a few shortcomings. The Queen Anne Hotel is an incredible building that acts as a time machine that sends you back over a hundred years every time you walk through their door. The decor inside is incredible and in pretty immaculate condition all things considered. There was a complimentary continental breakfast from 7-9:30 in the morning that my wife and baby enjoyed. I don’t really eat breakfast but it looked better than most complimentary breakfasts hotels offer. They had complimentary sherry and cookies from 4-6 every day. This was fantastic. Probably my favorite amenity I’ve ever received at a hotel. It was in an excellent location where you could get anywhere in the city pretty quickly with public transit. There was a convenience store right next door. The staff were very friendly, they dried my daughter’s jacket when she decided to jump in the bath fully clothed on the first day. They held our luggage for us the final day we were in San fransisco after we checked out. We also had a crib in our room waiting for us when we checked in.
Now everything wasn’t completely perfect. It was an old building that definitely had some character. There was a musky scent from everything being old. Our bathroom door didn’t shut all the way. The tile grout in the bathroom got all over the white towels if it got wet. They had provided a power strip that wasn’t working. There were a couple minor stains on our sheets. Our door to our room all the sudden stopped working when we got in later on our last night. It would no longer open with our key cards. They were able to get us in our rooms pretty promptly, however they weren’t able to fix it considering the time of night, so we would need help getting into our room the rest of our stay.
Overall, I still think this was a 5/5 experience. The hotel was just incredible, and even the shortcomings just felt like they were part of the charm. I’d stay here again in...
Read moreWe haven’t even stayed yet. We made reservations for this Wednesday on the recommendation of UCSF Hospital. I am having surgery and needed a nice hotel to stay at during my stay for my consultation. We live across the country. I was informed that we could get a discount as a UCSF patient. When I called to let the hotel know, the manager said we were beyond the cancellation date. I explained I was not cancelling and just wanted to take advantage of the discount. He continued to repeat that it was beyond the Cancellation period and that he couldn’t do anything to help me. I said that was extremely dissapointing that he would not honor the discount. He repeated again how he could not do anything and could not get back into the “computer’s system” to change anything. I find that hard to believe since he said he was the manager. Just some background, I’m a cancer survivor and amputee and we made plans quickly as we were unable to finalize plans due to work schedule and surgeon’s schedule until very close to date of our reservation. When I said to the hotel manager that I’d be coming back at at least 2 more times and maybe I should find a different hotel next time since they were not willing to honor the discount he said “that’s probably a good idea!” Not sure what his name is but I spoke to him at around 4pm east coast time or 1pm West coast time on June 24, 2019. He was very unaccommodating. Steer clear of this hotel. In my opinion, they are not run by an accommodating or “make it happen” type of manager. I will be sure to let the folks at UCSF know about my experience and hopefully have Queen Ann removed from their list of hotel referrals! It’s a sad day when people defer to saying no so quickly. It wouldn’t take much effort to accommodate us in some way, but I suppose saying no is...
Read moreAside from a somewhat convenient location, this hotel $$ is NOT WORTH IT! That said, there are 2 kind front desk persons and this review doesn't reflect on their efforts.
The continental buffet is quite basic - with the waffle maker as the saving grace. Pro tip: Don't eat the oily sausage. Your mouth nor stomach will ever forgive you.
After telling the front desk and the town car driver our destination, the driver still asked us where it was located. Um... who's the local here?
The coffee maker in the room smells like it has never been cleaned. Yuck!
The maid remade our bed with the dirty sheets that we distinctly took off the bed and placed on the floor. One could tell that it was the same dirty sheets because there was a makeup smudge from previous use. I called downstairs and the concierge took the message. Not trusting that he'd convey the appropriate sense of urgency, I decided to walk down to the front desk. Only after I followed up in person, he escalated my complaint to the manager. When I brought the issue up to the manager, he acted like he had ZERO EXPERIENCE in helping to resolve these types of indiscretions. He just said that they don't have any maids on property and all they could do was give me clean sheets for me to MAKE THE BED MYSELF! The concierge handed me some new bedding. The manager said that he was sorry and he'll see what they could do... 5 minutes later, I brought the dirty sheets down to the front desk. I asked for another conversation with the Manager and found that he'd just left the hotel - giving my justified complaint no additional thought.
So... Over $1K for 3 nights and I'm making my own...
