I stayed at this hotel for 1 night during a business trip. The main reason I chose the hotel was the Marriott Bonvoy program and the hotel being more cost efficient compared to some other alternatives in San Francisco downtown location.||Overall, it was a nice comfortable stay. But there were two down sides during my stays, the first was that the area felt a bit edgy due to being in central downtown. I walked from Union Square to here (as I like walking everywhere) however I didn’t feel particularly safe during this walk. Entering the hotel was blocked by a locked glass door and I had to talk to reception on a dial to get the door opened. It also required my key in 2 more key swaps to go through until I reached my room. This supported my worry about not being in a safe neighbourhood. The second was that there were some hair in the bed when I checked it which gave me the impression that the room was not super clean. The room didn’t feel nicely ventilated but this improved a bit once I turned the air-conditioning on. ||Here are some details on the specifics:||Welcome: The receptionist was very friendly on my arrival and he provided a warm welcome. However, I was so on the edge about walking in the area that I just wanted to get to my room. The receptionist provided two bottles of drinking water as well and told that I could grab as much as I want from the reception. This could be easier if these water bottles were left in the room like all hotels do but it was greatly appreciated. Overall, there was nothing wrong with my welcome apart from the hotel taking some precautions for unwanted visitors getting in. ||The room: I was given a nice large room with everything I could need during the stay. The bathroom was quite clean and the room had every necessity. The furnishings in the bedroom area was ok even though there was nothing interesting/fancy. There was a huge TV with a great view which was appreciated. When I checked the bed, I saw some hair on one side which got me a bit on the edge but it wasn’t a general cleanliness problem and I believe it was a one off incident. Another reason that I didn’t feel settled in the room quickly is because the room was not well ventilated and it only became comfortable to stay in once the air conditioning worked for a while.||The hotel: The hotel looks fresh and nicely decorated. It is an old building but everything is maintained in nice working order. I didn’t have a chance to explore the gym area so I can’t say much about the hotel’s common places.||Location: The hotel location is unfortunately very central in San Francisco downtown. Walking in the night felt a bit unsafe and I really lost my excitement before reaching the hotel. If you are new to SF like me, don’t do my mistake and take an uber rather than walking in this area.||Overall: It was a comfortable stay in a central location with reasonable price for SF standards. The cleanliness of the bed and the safety of the area was questionable and the room was not well ventilated but it was an ok stay apart from these issues. I would probably want to try another hotel in my next time in SF but I wouldn’t dread staying here if the price is...
