Very disappointed with how the evening manager handled my husbands food poisoning for this evenings dinner. We live 2 blocks away and have done had take out more than 10 time since moving to the area in Dec 2021. We have ordered 2 beef teriyaki dinner, 1 California roll, 1 salmon roll and 1 crunchy spicy tuna roll. My husband had one of the beef teriyaki dinners and his favorite the crunchy spicy tuna (he also had the ginger and Wasabi included on the side). Within 20 mins of eat his dinner, he began to have stomach discomfort - which then turned into cramps and eat with him vomiting. He drank only water the entire day and had water with dinner. The only food he had the entire day was this meal from this establishment. This is his regular eating routine to be clear. His is a white male, late 40s and lean physical build. Doesn't drinks alcohol and just has coffee in morning and water the rest of the day. I decided to call at 9.30pm (we ate dinner 7.30 pm) because my husband was still not feeling well. I informed her what we ordered and what he husband ate from that order. Importantside note: We both get tested weekly for covid due to our work so we know that we are not sick already from something else. I mention this because the lady handling the call and reporting to the manager stated and I quote " all our clients today have had no issues with the crunchy spicy tuna this evening so maybe your friend is sick already from something - sorry about this." I personally grew up in the food and hospitality industry and my husband has a lot of knowledge regarding the restaurant industry aswell; the way the evening manager had the phone lady handle this is unacceptable. Instead of offering to compensate for the 1 crunchy spicy tuna and inquire about how my husband is doing that moment I called - they decided to say "my friend must be sick from something else because no other client has had any issues with that specific dish that entire day. I then asked that a message be left for the owner/ head manager so that I may speak with them directly regarding the incident and when I asked all that was said " we are closed tomorrow." So I stated please take my name and number and let them know I will call again on Wednesday when they open to discuss it then. I asked twice to speak with the evening manager directly but wasn't allowed to because they had already told the lady what to say to me. It is currently 10.54pm and my husband is feel some relief but still having discomfort from having alot of gas and burps. He had to remove his clothing from the waist down to help relieve pressure of his underwear on his waist line. That is the current situation. So thank you to the evening manager for disappointing me. My husband is having very memorable evening. I do hope the owner receives my note and does decide to return my call.

Excellent sushi. Fresh fish. Excellent kitchen dishes. I am a heavy sushi fan. I've probably frequented over 100 sushi spots in California. This is one of the best. It's brand new in sf. It is a must try. And best of all, service, staff, and chef are amazing. Chef is so cool and he doesn't mind if you have a roll you want but isn't on the menu. He will make it custom. Awesome. If I could give more stars I would. Update: still amazing. Over two years later. Chef still makes the best rolls, freshest fish, and most variety of flavor I’ve experienced in the area. I’ve been to many omakase spots in SF, paid over $300 a person, but here I can get away for $100 or so a couple, eat like a king and feel more satisfied than at any of those other places. Love this place. Omg!!!! You’re too good. Sushi god. Lol. Amazing food yet again. Too many times this guy has surprised me and outdone himself. This time. He brought a dessert. Purple gem rock tempura ice cream. Pic doesn’t give you the taste. But it’s as beautiful as it tastes. Amazing experiences.

Highly recommend this nice neighborhood Japanese restaurant. Had a great meal before heading over to the AMC Van Ness for a movie. Started with a couple different Japanese craft beers. Both light, yet flavorful. Definitely not an IPA style. Instead of choosing from a large menu we shared a omakase tasting menu and had a couple of add ons to fill our little tummy’s. Each dish was fresh and delicious. Highlights include the tuna belly, fresh abalone, fried cod, and mochi ice cream at the end. Sat at the bar so fun to watch the sushi chef in action throughout the meal. Atmosphere is nice and quiet. Great for a first date or 100th date for sure.
