Room and hotel were fine, but the service was horrible. I left an item in our room when we checked out (completely my fault, not the hotels). I called that same day to see if they could find my item and the gentleman said he had it and would have someone call me the following day to give me shipping options - no call came. I called back and got the same person - he said "oh yea, please hold and let me look in to it". He then put the phone down and forgot to put me on hold wile he told a story to another person about an armed person coming in to the hotel, police chasing him etc. while using profanity and foul language. After almost 10 minutes of listening to his story, I realized he had no intention of checking on my item, so I interrupted his story with a "hello". I was immediately hung up on at that point, as I'm sure he was embarrassed(Honestly, I didn't care at all about his story or language, but simply wanted my item back). I then proceeded to call back nearly 15 times over the next hour and a half and they would not answer my call. I called back the next day and a male answered - when I said who I was and that I was calling about an item I left I was then hung up on and they would not answer my immediate follow-up calls. Another day i was finally able to reach Angelica who told me my item was not there and that they had held the wrong item for me and now being so far removed from my stay they more than likely had no chance of locating it. I expressed some frustration over the situation and time that had elapsed(that's why I called same day in the first place) due to them not answering the phone over my multiple phone calls. She then told me, it does not matter how many times I called, my item is not there... I asked her to have her manager, Riley call me back when she gets in - I knew Rileys name from the first gentleman's story - and Angelica guaranteed Riley would call me back... Here we are nearly a week later and I have not received...
Read moreWe stayed in this TX hotel in July, when the nights cool down to the mid- to high 80s. Unfortunately, there was no continuous air conditioning during the overnight. The air conditioning is set to turn itself off when there is no motion in the room. Sounds reasonable, except -- and we are clueless as to how Marriott doesn't know this -- people don't move around much in their sleep. We were up all night fiddling with the unit. Every time we feel asleep again, the temperature rose to an unacceptably high level and woke us up.
The next day we complained, only to be told that "Yeah, we get a lot of complaints about the a/c, and there is nothing that can be done. It is a Marriott rule." We asked that the complaint be logged, and the desk clerk refused. We asked to speak to the manager, and she again refused. She said to contact Marriott Customer Service, which we did. The email was sent to the manager who responded by not only acknowledging that there is no air conditioning when there is no motion, but by also saying that in addition, the each a/c "unit is blowing hot air from the outside." Huh? She continued, "We cannot turn off this feature with our air conditioning units as it is a Marriott requirement." Seriously? This is a business, and she knows that there is a problem, and failed to take it up with Marriott to resolve the issue. No matter what, we don't have to patronize them again. There is choice. We were at a competitor nearby only 3 weeks earlier and had no...
Read moreDuring the ice storm I took my family to this hotel. I was without power, I needed to charge my fathers medical equipment. At about 11 PM, the hotel started turning the lights off for about 1 hour. Then they would turn them back on for about 30 minutes. We also got the pleasure of cold showers. At 8 AM, they continued to cycle the power off. Then the manager when I went downstairs the first time asked me, "is there a problem". I asked him if this was a trick question.
My issue is that if the hotel would have informed me that they would be shutting their power off to conserve power, I could have made an informed decision. Instead, I had a sleepless night because, my father is 77 years old, with a feeding tube in his stomach. I was unable to properly charge his equipment, paid $140.00 to spend less than 12 hours with most of the time without power. Also, my father is in no shape to go down stairs. This caused me great panic because, when the lights went off, I had to stay up to watch my father.
No one could seem to understand why I was concerned and I get it, until it is happening to you, then it becomes your job to do what is best for your family. I got out of there but, that took some reasoning and it felt more like I was inconveniencing them because they had to turn the elevator on and my father was not moving fast enough.
I will never stay or recommend any of my out of town family to this location, that is eight minutes...
