Lacking Customer Service: Tyler
I made a trip to the Hobby Lobby in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday, July 12, 2025. I arrived close to 9:15am. I left at almost 10am. The cashier was the ONLY person I saw working there and he made me feel unwelcome. Let me tell ya what happened. I find my things and head to the registers. I see a young man (later, I find him wearing the nametag "Tyler") working. Looks like he is putting shirts on hangers up at the registers. So I'm looking for an open register. I start with register number one and make my way past register six before I see him move to the first register. I turn around and head back to register one. Tyler has said nothing to me. I get to the counter and place my items down for him to start scanning. He still says nothing to me, so I decided to break the ice by saying, "Got you working double duty, huh?" He tells me, "No, I volunteered becasue otherwise I would be bored." Ok...so now I got him chatting with me, this is good! He's bored? Ok, let's chat so he is not too bored. I reply, "I know how that goes. Most boring job I ever had was working at a hotel...as the desk clerk. I would literally be twisting my thumbs around waiting for customers." I stopped here to let Tyler speak. He does not. Next thing he tells me is my total. "Total comes to..." Ok, so no more chit-chatting? I pay for my items as he places a bag on the counter. When the card machine is done with my card and processed the payment, I grab the bag asking, "Everything in one bag?" Tyler give a "Ah-huh" to confirm. Then I say, "Have a nice day," to which he does not reply to. I leave the store thinking he is one of the worst customer service people I have ever met. He complained about his job being boring, but then refuses to greet me, wish me well when I leave, or even chat with me. He didnt ask me if I found everything ok, or if I needed anything....nothing. Just said his job is boring. (Does that fall under insubordination?) I was trying to help him not be bored for the few minutes he was checking me out. Sadly, he did not want to chit-chat. Maybe he should stick with just putting the shirts on the hangers and leave the register to someone who will at least greet and say farewell. Bordom...you bring it upon...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I've had at any Hobby Lobby, a store that claims to uphold Christian values. While my wife was at the register, the cashier, Mea A., was scanning our items, and the manager, Deborah, was bagging them. Due to the limited counter space, my wife placed an item on top of a floor mat. When Mea moved the mat, a sign that was on top fell to the floor. My wife inspected it and noticed that a piece had come un-nailed. She asked the manager, Deborah, for a replacement, as the damage clearly occurred when the cashier moved the mat.
To our surprise, Deborah accused my wife of causing the damage, which upset her. My wife pointed out that it was the cashier who moved the mat, causing the sign to fall. Instead of acknowledging this, Mea, the cashier, said, "Ma'am, you're the one who set the sign at the edge," taking no responsibility for what happened. Deborah then stated, "I just saw the sign hit the floor," implying that she didnât witness what actually occurred, even though she was standing just a foot away.
This was the worst customer service experience we've ever had. We will never shop at this location again. If I could I would give it...
Read moreI went to this HL store with no intentions not breeding anything just the have some extra time and have not been in a HL in awhile. Love love love the merchandise in these stores, what's not to love?! The store is the same exact way from what I remember 3 years ago if not longer. Not such a bad thing just guess I'm good for another 3? Unless a specific just can't be found at Wal-Mart....prices are a little on the steep side unless caught on clearance then your good. This is speaking for all HL stores....now back to San Marcos location in which I was asked about...my only complaint here is there were sooo many employees working here from the one I saw over and over and over again to the one chatting it up like a school kid with I'm guessing her classmates or friends... I hope! A little less chatting and more working maybe or at least so don't let me hear enough to know what's going on in your life....I go shopping to get away from these scenarios. Everywhere I tired there was an employee Btw not one of them ask me anything or if I needed help. Check out process was good cashier was a...
