Update: 2 out of 3 of the handicap signs are missing, talking that parking away from those who need it most and giving it to those who don't. ~~~~~~~~~~ My wife and I wanted to hit up a Japanese steakhouse for our anniversary and were enticed by the endless option. It's kinda confusing, but the left side, which they call "the grill," is a la carte. It has the fancy before you cooking, and was quite loud that night. The right, I forgot what they called it, is where you want for the endless. There was no performance cooking, but it was much quieter. So the food: It was amazing! The agedashi tofu was mind blowing! I think it was the most amazing thing I've ever had. It was slightly crunchy with the thinnest crust on the outside, but the inside literally melted in my mouth. It just disintegrated into this hot puddle of yumminess over my tongue. The ginger salad dressing was great, too. I usually dislike small portions, but that was perfect here so you could try so many things! The abandoned host(ess) station, sparse drink refills, and slow orders weren't my favorite, but what I've really got to knock a star off for was how wishy washy our server seemed about the vegetarian status of dishes. She said the miso soup, harumaki, edamame, vegetable tempura, agedashi tofu, ginger salad dressing, and veggie roll were vegetarian. She said the onion soup, egg nigiri, inari sushi nigiri, and ramen weren't vegetarian. Strangely, if you look at the a la carte menu, the "vegetarian delight" includes the onion soup. Several recipes I looked up on agedashi tofu weren't vegetarian. On the other hand, several recipes I found for egg (tamago) nigiri were vegetarian. The red star apparently means the dish contains contains raw fish. I sure hope our waitress was right about the vegetarian statuses because otherwise I consumed meat and/or missed out

food was ok but staff leaves very little to desire. ordered take out @ 8:24 with a 8:59 pick uptime. 8:55 i arrive to pick up the order and was told its not ready yet and to wait in my car and they will bring it out. 9:15 i walk back in to see whats going on. im told the kitchen was running behind and it would be 10 more mins and they would bring it out. 9:32 i watch 2 togo orders come to the front counter. 2 customers leave with 1 togo order. 9:37 i walk in and she hands me my food and a b/s sorry for the wait. IF YOU ARE GOING TO LIE ABOUT YOUR SCREW UP i suggest removing the evidence. attached is the order receipt as well as the store printed receipt. also attached is the order ticket that prints in the kitchen ALL TIME STAMPED. i also did not get, any soy sauce, no wasabi, no sauce for the steak or shrimp, no chop sticks and no cutlery. and i even tipped when i ordered. i normally dont write reviews but the manager was unavailable when i called so im killing time :) next stop, yelp!

I've eaten sushi at many different places, this was the most flavorful I've ever had. Sushi everywhere else was just bland, my son picked this place for his birthday due to endless sushi. I was apprehensive, but happy we went as now I know where to go to get some really good sushi. Even my youngest son who is craxy picky tried a few new I things and liked them. Jalapeño shrimp roll didn't need anything added to it to be delishious and have a lil kick, LOVED IT. Youngest ordered yakisoba, I tried it, wasn't bad, the deeper into the noodles he got the stronger the flavor saturation became, almost too much... Not bad tho. Wife ordered steak as she's not a sushi girl. They cooked her steak perfectly and put the seasoning on the side as requested. Birthday boy and his gf ordered the endless sushi and ate half the menu and loved it. Two giant thumbs up and a big grin on my face as I learned a great new place to eat some really good food in San Marcos !

I wish I could have given 0 Stars. My husband had a taste for sushi to celebrate his birthday. I'd heard the food was good here so we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the short experience we had here was horrible. Upon pulling up there was equipment outside and few cars. So my husband first peeked his head in and asked the front staff person if they were open. He responded that yes the sushi side was open but not the Hibachi. As my husband beckoned for me to come out the car to come in, we noticed a female staff person peering out a window at us. It was clear she did not think we could see her. My first instinct was that we were not welcome there, as I had experienced something similar at a restaurant in the past. My husband waved. Upon entering we were escorted to a booth without any utterance of a word. Once seated, menus were placed in front of us and the waiter asked for our drink order. He then went to the only other customers in the restaurant and socialized and conversed with them for about 5 minutes (yes I checked my phone). He brought back our water and left without giving us the opportunity to ask questions about the menu or order an appetizer. Then he went to the bar and began watching tv. At that time I decided given the poor customer service and lack of care for our business, we would take our money elsewhere. Once I left, I called the restaurant. I asked to speak with a manager and the person explained that he was the manager. I asked his name and his response was "Who is this". I explained that I was a customer that just left the restaurant and could I have his name. He finally said "Jeffery" In fact, after I confirmed, he was also the host/waitperson that sat and waited on us. I asked if I could have contact information for the owner or a corporate number and he explained that was him as well. When I began to explain that we left because of the poor customer service and lack of attention to us as customers, he exclaimed "We do not need your people here!". At that point I realized our mistreatment was based off more than just a staff with bad attitudes, but due to our appearance. I cannot pinpoint if it was our African American race or something else, but I cannot believe the poor treatment we received at this establishment. I will never return nor encourage anyone else to spend your money or time at this restaurant. No food is tasty enough to waste your money on rude, disrespectful owners and staff. I am a Texas State alumni, former employee, current Graduate student and San Marcos resident and will be sure to let all those I associate with in those capacities do give this restaurant any business. We decided to go to Wok n Roll Chinese and Sushi down the street and had a pleasant experience with great customer service, tasty food and the fastest service at an Asian restaurant...

Came here with my Girlfriend after going and racing some cars in Austin.

First and foremost I did not try the Kobe, We tried the Beef Yakki, So this review is based off that and atmosphere along with the service!

The Food Let me tell you, I am not sure if I was starving or if this was seriously the best piece of food that ever touch my mouth, because WOW. The flavor that I got from the beef was absolutely perfect! Let's start with the soups, I got the Miso and girlfriend got the Onion Soup, The miso didn't taste very "Miso" You know that cultury taste, it was pretty watered down, the Onion soup however was awesome! Had the perfect balance of onion flavor in it! Now the main dish, As mentioned the beef was superb! It had a semi salty/Smokey/grilled taste, mixed with the veggies that also captured the flavor, the steam rice was a great pallette cleanser although I did ask for Teriyaki sauce on the side to pour on top so that sweet salty balance was great! Girlfriend got the fried rice and that to was tasty! Although it was not a pallete cleanser as it mixed with the saltyness of the beef, but still good!

The Atmosphere The vibe was well, Japanese! Some fishy smells at the front door but more beef as you walked in. Overall was very pleasant smelling, the vibe was also nice, very laid back and relaxing, mix of people in street clothes and business casual, it was lunch time so not sure if the style changes though and into the night

The Service At first I was already catching a bad vibe from the hostess at the front, we waited 10 minutes just for someone to come greet us, even then she didn't apologize for the wait she just got my name, after waiting about 25 minutes we went back in where she just asked for my name and walked us to the table, Didn't ask how our day was or how long we waited which was unfortunate and not very host like. After being seated the waiter didn't arrive for about 10 minutes but he apologized for the wait and immediately asked us what we'd like to drink, after we ordered he made sure the soup came to us asap so we weren't waiting without food! He definitely changed the mood and I'm super grateful for that of this review could have gone a different way.

Overall: The food and vibe was great! Seriously appreciate the server for changing the mood and pepping us up! The hostesses could definitely be friendlier... But as mentioned great food, great atmosphere, I wish it was closer to San Antonio so I can go there once a week but I will definitely be returning to this location (By the way for those who say there is one in SA, it must be a knock off because the food there was extremely different and there will be a separate review for that location)

Thanks for making a great day even better Kobe of San Marcos! You...

This was a celebration for my Grandson who wanted to eatvthere. It was a Saturday night.

First, finding parking was a nightmare. Had to walk across the parking lot several lanes away from the

2 out of 3 of my arrived at 7, ahead of the 7:30 time that we were supposed to be seated for the Hibachi. 1 party member was not there.

After about 40 minute we're told our table is ready. But the party we were waiting for was finding parking. Which was limited.

We were told we'd get the next table. The party we were waiting on arrived. I announced we were now all there. But they seated a group of 4 instead of us.

Then they told us to stand by the bar. Where we were constantly being asked to move so waiters n guests could get by. I had to sit down and drink a glass of water at the bar so as not to be in the way, also so I didn't fall out. I have a problem with crowds, heat waiting, n small spaces.

One of the three in our party waited outside so I walked out to speak with them.

After another 40 minute wait, I called checked on our table, they acted like they didn't know we were waiting. So I walk in, and now they seat us.

The AC in the Hibachi area was not working well, there were fans scattered around. Uncomfortable was putting it mildly.

The food was bland, there were mixups in the order, one steak was over cooked. The server didn't know how to do many tricks like the egg crack, or the liquid pour, or the fire ring, and practically told us he was new and did good not to burn the food.

He dumped the food on all of our plates, my salmon wast burned n very over cooked.

The fried rice was just previously fried rice being heated and tossed around. No carrots, no scallions, no egg, no soy beans,. Just rice.

I asked for steamed rice, but was given the underwhelming fried rice. After I started eating it, then they come out with the steamed rice.

The waitress forgot the drink order, We got sushi with no side sauce soy sauce, no ginger no wasabi. We asked for to go boxes and had to wait 15 minutes for that before asking another...
