Boy oh boy, where do I begin with this review? A friend of mine and I go to Texas Bean & Brew House at 11:00am this morning for a late breakfast. I've always passed by this place and never tried it, so we stopped. We ordered a Chicken & Waffles plate and a Belgian Waffle plate- I also ordered a Tiramisu Breve. My drink comes out maybe 10-15 minutes after it being ordered, no big issue here, it was a great cup of Joe, but as we wait for our food, we notice everyone around us who had gotten their meals ordered after my friend and I. Finally, I get my Chicken & Waffles plate. The presentation is lackluster, it was almost thrown together in a frenzy, but alas, presentation isn't everything. Then we wait for my friend to get their meal... We continue to wait for another 15-20 minutes until their Belgian Waffles come. Once again, presentation isn't great, but we'd already been waiting an hour total for our meals to come out, so we dig in. When I say this is the worst waffle I've had.. I mean it. It was mushy, almost undercooked, had no flavor... I got 2 little chicken strips that resembled Tyson's Frozen Strips, and the syrup was most likely Hungry Jack's. My friend's meal had maybe 6 slices of strawberries and a sad dollop of Reddiwhip. Not only did our food take an hour after its order time to arrive, but it was also flat out not good. After attempting to wave down a server for 5 minutes, I finally catch one and ask them to speak to a shift supervisor or manager. The manager asks me to follow them inside so I could be issued a refund. As I'm waiting, a man in his 40s-50s comes out from the kitchen and asks me what was wrong with the food. I explain that I had waited a decently long time to get it, my friend waiting even longer than I had, and that our meals just.. were not good. I've never spoken up about a meal being wrong or inedible, I usually suffer through it, but this time, I felt the need to.. We waited a long time, we were sold something completely different than what we received, and so I felt it was appropriate to speak up. The man continues to say I'll be issued a refund, but to "Do him a favor and never come back."... Never have I received such revolting "customer service". I get it, I most likely insulted this man's business, but I tried my best to remain lighthearted yet firm. I spent $30, 2 hours of my labor, on meals for a friend and I only to not eat it.. To conclude this review, I'd like to say that criticism is necessary for growth. As someone who works in the food/retail industry, it's so important for guests to speak up if something isn't up to par- that's how you can improve your business, your team, and your interactions/connections with guests. To be shut down and told to never come here again after trying my best to remain positive about wasting my time and money is really heartbreaking.. If you want great service and delicious food, I suggest checking out the Root Cellar or the Blue Dahlia Bistro...
Read moreLONG AND THOROUGH SUNDAY BRUNCH REVIEW This past Sunday my friends and I met here. This was my fourth time there and with every visit the service got worse. My three friends ordered before me as I got there 10 minutes after they did. Upon arriving I was told that there would be a TWO HOUR wait for food and a 45 minute wait for a latte. I decided to pass on getting food at that moment. Despite the wait I decided to order. I ended up getting my food in 30 minutes and my friends’ food still had not arrived. We had to tell the waitress that they had ordered a mimosa carafe. She brought the carafe and glasses with food on it. They were not clean whatsoever. Wish I had taken a picture in retrospect to show how disgusting they were. We asked her to send it back and she never brought clean glasses. The waitresses looked clueless and kept trying to bring other customers’ food. At this point my friends had waited for two hours. This establishment had dirty glasses covering the entire counter which led to not being able to even get water because of how dirty and backed up they were. We asked for the manager and the employees were clearly speaking about us as we waited for the her. We explained how we had been there for two hours and only one person from the number had been served and instead of mediating the situation she proceeded to make excuses, did not apologize and acted as if it were our fault that their food was not associated to a number. She was not sorry that her establishment was run poorly. An employee explained that they were understaffed and that 8 people quit in the span of two weeks. And I don’t blame them, because the work environment seemed to put employees under severe pressure with no remorse. I understand that several places are understaffed and that they were trying their best but honestly we gave them too many chances to mediate the situation and were met with subpar solutions. As for the owner/manager lady with the blonde hair - she should not be able to work there anymore. The same employee who disclosed people had quit approached me and asked what I told her boss only to tell me, “She has been tame ever since you spoke to her.” Honestly that statement alone and the way we were treated by her made me never want to go there again even on a slow day when they have better service. She’ll reply to reviews but don’t be fooled by it. I have told every person I know to not go here anymore simply because of the way we were treated. PLEASE DO NOT GO ON A SUNDAY IF YOU WANT YOUR BLOOD...
Read moreOh my. My boyfriend and I were traveling through after spending a wonderful evening at Maven Inn located in Canyon Lake and stopped for lunch.
We walked in and ordered; the kitchen staff and servers walked through the line to order the whole time we waited to order which seemed a bit weird and inefficient but whatever. The menu was very enticing and I was excited to try the food. The boyfriend ordered two breakfast tacos and i ordered some sweet potato hash. We took our number and sat down.
It was pretty busy and loud but two tacos and a scoop of hash that is served as a side shouldn't take long so we waited.
And we waited.
And we waited.
The boyfriend checked his phone a few times and after about 40 minutes he got up to ask about our order. He was pleasant with a smile and asked if there was a problem with our order to which the blind older woman behind the counter said "has in been more than 30 minutes?." He said "yes mam". She then said "we are busy on weekends and other places make you wait in your car, we let you wait at a table." He came back to the table and was nearly seated when she then brought out our luke warm food. No "sorry about the wait" or "enjoy" she just put our food down and walked away.
We ate our food and then left. The food was alright but cool. It was not under a heat lamp as the plates weren't warm and it was freshly finished as the food was not hot. We witnessed another situation where the older gentleman asked about his food and it was brought out immediately. I did not ask them about their food temperature but it was odd that both people who asked were immediately served.
The place was nicely decorated but the echo and noise was ridiculous. The kitchen staff was walking through the deli and order line to get in and of the kitchen which was just poor design.
I gave it two stars because the price was good. Everything else deserved one star. We will not return and I wouldn't recommend anyone else stop for food either. Maybe their coffee or beer is more impressive than the...
