I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, so I'll start with the positive things, first. The staff, was all very friendly, and the breakfast each morning was very good. The hotel location, for what we wanted, was convenient.
-Not sure why we were put into a handicap accessible room-neither of us is disabled. I guess the extra space in the room was good, but the condition of the room was not so good. A couple of large water damage spots on the ceiling, and the water had obviously dripped down the walls, discoloring them. The bed coverlet, had a couple of cigarette holes in it, even though this was a 'non smoking' room. The couch also had cig burn holes, as well as rips and stains, and it was absolutely filthy. And the springs were shot. Very uncomfortable to try to sit in.
-The tile on the floor in front of the kitchenette was broken, creating a sharp edge, which easily could trip and/or cut someone. And the metal transition piece between the tile & carpet, was broken, sticking up and also very sharp.
-The stove top burner pans had burnt, caked on food in them. They obviously hadn't been cleaned or replaced in ages. Disgusting! The refrigerator, however, was large and very clean. Nice surprise.
-There was no lip or step into the shower, as this was a hdcp unit. The shower curtain was quite short, stopped about two feet above the floor, and for some strange reason, the floor tiles were sloped down into the rest of the bathroom, rather than into a shower drain. No matter how careful we tried to be, there was always a flood in the bathroom, especially around the toilet area.
-The bathroom counter had obviously been used by people as a craft table, as there were lots of dried paint spots and glitter all over it. And the countertop had a lot of slices, from a razor or knive. The hand dryer had a layer of dried dust on it. The half wall, between the bathroom counter and the toilet, had cig burns and stains. Dirty.
-Housekeeper didn't empty our waste basket a couple of days, and one day didn't even leave us any towels! I called the front desk, and was told they'd send someone right over with them. Nope. A couple of hours later, I walked down to the office and got them myself.
All of the furniture was dirty, with many ugly stains, tears, and all of the springs in the seats & couch were broken down. Replace it all! Clean the room from top to bottom, and give the entire room a new coat of paint!
The hotel is desperately in need of repair work and better maintenance. It's dirty, and very run down. Not very inviting. For a place called 'Quality' Inn, there lacked a whole...
Read moreWe were greeted by the virtual clerk, who told us at 1pm that we couldn't check in unless we paid $40 additional. We were sent away with our backpacks and no car for 2 hours. They did make us pay a $100 deposit. They typed the wrong room number on the screen. The door latch mechanism is broken on door to room. The toilet paper was hanging pulled off the roll, bolted to the back of the door. The tub faucet constantly runs. Cigarette burns in the tub. The metal of the tub under the porcelain is exposed in several places. There were stains on the sheets and carpet. The remote control had no battery cover. The clock wasnt set or plugged in. The bed was however comfortable. No, I would never stay here again. My back was killing me after carrying around my stuff for 2 hours. I would be unhappy paying more than 60$ a night for this place. At almost 200, I would steer clear.
Edited to add - beware I was charged $1.25 after the stay as a "service charge". When I called them, my phone was continuously disconnected. Using my boyfriends phone, he was able to contact them. I can't explain why my phone was continually disconnected from their service and his number worked. I spoke with Jasmine (doubtful) who refused to refund the $1.25, in spite of the bad experience we had on site which did end up ruining our trip thanks to back pain.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told she was the supervisor. I asked to speak to her supervisor and was told she didn't have one. We asked for the corporate number and got told to google it. We asked if this was a franchise hotel or corporate owned and were told it was corporate owned. When I asked if it was corporate owned, surely she must have a supervisor, I was told she wasn't allowed to disclose that. I asked if the hotel had a general manager and could I speak to them. She said yes but she was not on the property. I asked the manager's name and was told she couldn't disclose the name of the manager.
Honestly, you couldn't pay me to stay here again. Mr. Patrick Pacious, as the president of Choice hotels, is this how you expect your hotels to treat...
Read moreI read the reviews on here after I had already booked my room and I will say I was kind of nervous. However, I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised and now I'm actually annoyed at the unfair reviews people left.
So, here is an honest review and what you are getting:
You are getting one of the best $70-80 a night hotels you're going to find. Yes, it is going to have it's problems, but you paid $70-80, you didn't pay $500 for the Ritz, so expectations should fall in line.
The room was clean: newer paint, newer floors, bathroom was spotless. But furniture was chipped, maybe some areas where paint wasn't perfect, that can't deduct from a $70-$80 rooms review, that is and should be expected. The pool was SPOTLESS.
Each time I encountered anyone working at the hotel, they were doing maintenance to improve things.
The hotel is just shy of 2 miles from everything, if you're looking for exercise, you can easily walk that or it's a $10 Uber each way.
I am a runner, I would cross 41 directly in front of the hotel and take a right on 47th street, you're immediately in a beautiful multi- million dollar neighborhood. Homes worth 2M+ dollars are .2 miles from your room, so I don't understand the reviewers commenting they felt the area was unsafe.
There is a liquor store or kwik stop down the street off of 41 and questionable people hang around there, but in my experience, questionable people are typically always around liquor stores, no matter the place.
The breakfast is GREAT! There are delicious muffins, yogurt, and WAFFLES. Who doesn't love the smell of waffles each morning? They have a variety of juices, and of course... COFFEE. I saw complaints about the breakfast due to carbs, but I don't think you can use your diet for a reason to complain on a hotel.
You can walk to the airport if you'd like, it is that close.
ALL IN ALL: If you are planning on visiting the area and you know you won't be in your room a ton (because it is not a condo), and you need a clean place to rest your head, but don't want to pay $250+ a night 1.8 miles down the road,...
