SHADY OWNERSHIP, DODGY MANAGEMENT: I explained that the event I was planning on attending was cancelled due to inclement weather on the morning of my arrival. So I (politely) asked if they could make an exception and refund the cancellation fee. The manager sounded empathetic but kept beating around the bush asking me to check back the following day, call back the following week, saying the owners haven’t got back to him. A week later after my cancelled reservation, the event rescheduled for the following week. So I asked if the property could provide a voucher. More beating around the bush. I understand my cancellation policy was non-refundable but the way they handle refund and exception requests is a complete mess. Stop making excuses and be more accountable! I can’t help it if a snowstorm cancels an event in the same day of my arrival! Have some empathy and accountability! I come up to Sault Ste. Marie several times a year ready to spend several hundred dollars on each stay (even in the slow season!). I do not think this property shows it has much ethics or responsibility. They will keep take your money whether you stayed or not. I understand the cancellation policy. Yes no refunds for cancellations with 24 hours. I didn’t cancel the event. The weather made it virtually impossible to attend. This reminds me of during COVID when properties wouldn’t refund cancellations because of towns locking down or guests being too sick to travel. Non-refundable, no vouchers, no exceptions; It’s unfair and it’s unethical. Shame on this business. šŸ‘ŽšŸ»šŸ‘ŽšŸ»šŸ‘ŽšŸ»šŸ‘ŽšŸ»šŸ‘ŽšŸ»

We booked the hotel room on a limb. It was cheaper than the rest. Once there we realized it was literally across the street from the place we were there to see. The soo locks. When checking at the front desk they were very helpful. They gave us maps of the town, restaurant locations, and insight on what to do. The room was an upgraded queen bed with its only parking spot and entry. It had a cute set of bistro chairs and table outside. I liked that it was a private access. Bonus we got the room at the end. 134. When entering the room there is a bed, TV, a fridge, microwave and night stands. The a.c was super nice and worked well. They provided hair dryer and bathroom soap, body wash and hair bottles. The queen bed however was not comfortable to me bc it was loud and rickety. My significant other has back problems and slept good on it. The water pressure was amazing. There were only two pillows so I asked housekeeping for a couple more. Without hesitation she provided not only pillows but extras bathroom towels. All hotel staff were personable and accommodating. Every morning for three days straight they came and freshened up the room without being asked. Nice and clean. Reasonable prices. Right down on the strip. Couldn't have booked a better spot. 😊 Just a suggestion to the hotel is it would have been nice to have a small table and chairs inside of the room in the corner. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Best value if you're going to the Soo to watch boats. It's right across from the Locks and the rooms are very clean and have free WiFi. Would absolutely stay again. Update on 07/10/22: Much has changed since I was last here. I understand that this is an Ecotel, and that some things may be omitted due to this. First of all, the room did not have hand soap for the bathroom. I get that the earth-conscious idea is that it might be wasteful to put hand soap in the bathroom that is individually wrapped, but if that is the case then there should at least be some re-fillable dispensers. I went to the desk to ask for some soap, but no one was there, so I went and bought my own to bring home with me. Secondly, there was stuff left behind from the previous person left in the room, which I was happy to just toss but it should not have been there to begin with. Lastly, I honestly don't care if you charge $10/night more but the towels in the room are terrible. I can't see why it wouldn't be worth the guest comfort factor to upgrade from the horrid towels in the bathroom. I wouldn't dry my car with them, they are super rough and cheap.

My husband booked a room for 2 nights and called the motel directly, 1) because we were booking with 2 dogs and 2) because he is a disabled veteran. He spoke to an employee named Kyle who made the booking. We had booked for Monday night - Wednesday morning. I was present in the room when my husband made the call and know he was very clear about booking those days that we wanted. We didn’t get a confirmation email so my husband called back again and Kyle said it hadn’t gone through correctly and would have to enter it again ( I’m not sure but this may have been when things went awry).

The Sunday night before our trip (early departure in the morning) my husband- who is also terminally ill with stage 4 cancer (thank you Iraq burn pits) he’d gone to bed early. His phone rang at 9:15pm and being woken from a deep sleep thought it was a telemarketer. He said the call display said ā€œpossible spamā€. Anyway the call lasted 14 seconds and a hang up by a now angry veteran.

About 5 minutes later the phone rang again, I went in to answer and the call display said ā€œLockview Motelā€. Upon answering the male on the phone Stated he was calling to confirm our reservation. To which I replied ā€œ Yes, we will be there tomorrowā€ And he stated ā€œ No, your room is booked for tonight and you’re not hereā€ I then reiterated that we had specifically booked for Monday night to Wednesday morning, and his immediate response was that he was charging us for the night and that we were booked in from Sunday to Tuesday. It escalated from there the manager was quite unwilling to admit any fault or work with us to rectify the problem because my husband had been rude to his employee on the phone. I explained that he is a disabled veteran with both PTSD and stage four cancer and had been woken up out of a deep sleep And was unaware of who was on the phone and he didn’t feel that was a reasonable response and decided he was he was cancelling our reservation.

Kyle called back a little while later and he was calm and advised he would try and rectify the situation. We advised that the manager had cancelled us and thus cancelled our trip which may have been my husbandā€˜s last Opportunity for a little vacation.

Two days later, my husbandā€˜s credit card was charged the entire amount, including the dog fees when the dogs were never in the room and the room never required added cleaning. We never got a cancellation receipt and had to dispute the claim through both our bank and Visa. Thankfully, our dispute was accepted, and we received all...

I really wanted to give 5 stars, however some issues won't allow it. First, it is a great location. We stayed 3 nights in the cabins. They appear to be remodeled fairly recently. I really loved the design, colors etc. The beds feel like a memory foam, or a hybrid, felt soft to push, but firm enough to support you for a good nights sleep..

The bathroom is REALLY tight. I'm taller, so sitting on the toilet my knees were against the wall. Sitting at an angle helped that. Shower is nice, good water flow, some temp changes here and there, but nothing serious. Biggest complaint, the showerhead is really low. I have a spine injury so it was painful to keep bending to wash my hair, face etc.

The TV is nice, but the picture isn't full screen. Its not as clear as mine at home, but this seems to be the case in many motels we've stayed in.

The air unit is nice, the fan stays on and the compressor isn't real loud. It'll freeze you out quick!

The table and chairs, while decorative, are useless. They look nice, but they're the most uncomfortable chairs we've ever sat in. While I was gone, she went online to pay bills, sat for 5 minutes and had to get up. She sat on the bed the rest of the stay. A nice livingroon chair, or a couch or loveseat at the foot of the bed would have been nicer.

There is sufficient room to get in/out of both beds. Little tip, there are 2 USB on the side of the lamp. She searched for power outlets for our phones, before laying in bed I seen them.

I have medical devices and they require laying them on the floor to start. Each time we had to clean hair off of them, from the carpet. My pillow had a hair too, that wasn't mine. I didn't use it anyhow.

The plug for the HVAC unit had no plastic cover. Not sure how that got overlooked. Exposed 240v.

The staff was friendly with me, thought they were great. Since my wife couldn't make this trip, I took my Mom. When she went in for more towels, she said the girl was rude. That wasn't the case with me, they were very helpful.

Overall it was a great place. It is right across from the locks, in the middle of all the stores. Great location. The price was very reasonable, and we enjoyed our stay. I'll definitely give them another chance on a...
