UNFORTUNATELY, I got the Hot Roast Beef recently, and they changed the gravy. The gravy was nowhere near as good as it used to be. Updated to 4 stars. We stopped in here for breakfast the other day, and it was delicious!!!! My husband had the steak and eggs. The steak was very tender and well seasoned. I had the Monte Cristo....it was very tasty..I think that the French toast should have had a bit of a crisp to it, but that's my opinion. My son had the sausage biscuits and gravy. He gobbled it up, so I'd say it was good also... They open at 7 am, which is earlier than the other breakfast places, so YAY! The waitress was very friendly... ....it is very chilly in the morning, bring a sweater This place is seasonal..... ****original review **** It actually has a view...if you sit upstairs. I have only eaten here a couple of times, but I do enjoy eating in a restaurant that has a view. The prices are a little high for the service and the food selection. In my opinion. but it is a tourist place. On my last visit, however, I ordered the hot roast beef, and it was exactly what I was looking for...it has that good dark school cafeteria (or if anyone out there remembers Kmart cafeteria) gravy. Yum!

I really wanted to like this restaurant but… when we first walked in the hostess asked us if we wanted to sit upstairs or downstairs. She said the view upstairs was nice and we could sit by the window. When we got up there the second hostess said there weren’t any tables available near the window when their clearly was. In fact after we were sat at a table in the middle, the next couple parties were sat near the window. Weird… Since we just arrived in the UP I wanted to try my first pasty. Being from the east coast I’ve never had one, and the reviews said they made a good one. I don’t know if we came in on a bad day or the chef was going through something, but the pasty was lousy. Slightly burned on the outside and very dry on the inside. Luckily the next day we went to a different place and had a proper one. Otherwise I could have been turned off by them for the rest of my life. Anyway, like I said I really wanted to like this local eatery, but the whole experience just didn’t cut it unfortunately.

We happened to stumble upon this place visiting Soo Locks! It was excellent! We really got there just in time before they closed for the season, and were out of a few things, but that didn’t hinder the experience at all. In order, we got the Whitefish Basket with sweet potato fries, the club sandwich, and the whitefish dinner with wild rice and mashed potatoes. Kyle, our server was very kind! Everything was absolutely delicious. I personally had the whitefish basket, and as someone who doesn’t eat a lot of fish or had never tried whitefish before, this was a great choice. Thanks Kyle for a great experience! Can’t wait to come back again one day!

I recently visited the Lockview Restaurant at 329 W Portage Ave, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. This is a very nice restaurant that was recommended to me. I went for dinner and it had a good crowd with people waiting for a table. I sat at the bar and had a very good time. The food was very good and served quickly. The service was very good on such a busy night.
