We booked three nights here to begin our week in Seattle and surrounds trip. Upon arriving we had to make a sharp right turn off of a very busy highway (and drivers don't slow down here) and up a ramp to the locked parking garage. The lobby was placed temporarily on the third floor. Luckily there was an elevator! When we did find the lobby we got checked in. I had prepaid this reservation in full some time before our trip and almost immediately I was asked how I wanted to pay for parking. When I booked our reservation, the garage parking was listed as "$25 per night" and when we arrived, it had become "$30 per night, plus tax". I asked if I could pay that at check out, which turned out to be a smart idea. I kind of thought that I'd be given a little kinder treatment after flying all the way across the country that morning, having to go through a bunch of lip at the airport from Avis about our car, and then finding this hotel which, if you blink, you'll miss it. Whatever happened to 'hospitality' in the hospitality industry? They did have a hot breakfast here, but no business center for guests. If I wanted something printed I had to email it to the front desk. Also, our toilet clogged pretty quickly after a few hours and I had to turn the water supply off in the bathroom to keep it from overflowing feces all over the bathroom floor. Upon calling maintenance, a woman with a plunger arrived and repeatedly plunged and flushed the toilet. It didn't refill because the water was 90% shut off. I tried explaining this to her several times and then gave up. She announced that she would call another person to the room to fix this. That was fine as we were going out for the day. Unfortunately, when we arrive that evening, nothing had been done with the toilet. At that point we asked to change rooms. We were assigned a new room for our last night there. There were other little problems here too; one of them being that we were trying to find an inexpensive Italian restaurant in the area and were told that there was one "about 15 minutes' walk" from the hotel. I didn't want to walk anywhere; I was sore from walking and hiking the day before. We took off in the car in the direction he pointed toward and immediately encountered closed and blocked off and one way roads for several miles. I never did find this Italian place, but did stumble across a taco joint and this was Taco Tuesday, so in Seattle terms, we got a bargain dinner that night. It still cost $60 plus tax for tacos. Everything here is taxes, I mean everything. And parking is charged almost everywhere too, to the tune of $20-30 for a few hours. I was lucky to be able to park for free that night. People must have money to burn here; even a plain pizza and a salad with a little chicken strip in it (on another night) was nearly $50. It costs $49.95 each to see the Space Needle unless you have a special price; the art glass museum near it also costs that per ticket. There's another museum, a pop culture one, that is really popular, and we had a CityPass for that so I didn't notice the price, but I could guess it was probably near $50, not to mention the taxes. None of this is that hotel's fault, I just thought to mention how expensive everything is in this area. Upon checking out, we were forgiven the parking fees, and I really think we deserved some...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for two nights during our vacation. We were in town for 3 reasons- a wedding, my dad’s funeral, and an anniversary mini moon. We booked the king jacuzzi room and opted to switch to the king waterfront view the next night. Room prices were reasonable since we had a wedding discount rate.
We opted to use their outsourced town car service from the airport and it took us to the wrong location. We arrived several hours before check in but they were able to get us into the room right away. Breakfast was great there- lots of options. Morning front desk crew was friendly enough but forgetful- we requested some items like extra shampoo but never received it and had to follow up.
Overall, the hotel was clean and average customer service. The reason for the one star was lack of communication, undue stress, and overcharges. Before we switched from the jacuzzi room to the waterview room, I checked with the front desk to see what time it would be and they said they would call if we left since we wanted to explore the city before the wedding that night. We decided to use the jacuzzi one more time, then pack and leave our luggage at the front desk instead of waiting around. In the middle of using the jacuzzi, we hear a keycard and our door begins to open. We shouted, “It says do not disturb!” We put the card in the keyhole for privacy. We suspected it may have been housekeeping but when my husband ran to see who it was, there was no one near our door or in the hallway. I called the front desk immediately. They sent “security” or perhaps a manager to check it out and they could not provide us with answers. I was hysterical and extremely anxious so my husband went to talk to the front desk. Our waterview room was finally available when we brought our luggage downstairs and I asked the front desk to have the manager contact me. We settled in the new room and when the manager called, she still did not have answers and assured us no one else was on that floor that would have access. She offered to leave a message on our phone after they checked their computers for card access to our previous room. When we returned from our outing, there was no message. We tried our best not to worry since we were going to a wedding that night. I did not hear back from the manager at all. At check out, the front desk said there was a miscommunication with housekeeping and that’s what happened. I was very disappointed the manager did not follow up. They were kind enough to offer to comp one night, but they never did. And on top of that, my card was actually charged another $209. I’m in the process of trying to dispute everything.
I’m sure this does not happen all the time, but it is unnecessary stress and such a hassle. I also don’t appreciate being told something, and then it doesn’t happen. It’s quite embarrassing already to have the hotel housekeeping nearly walk-in on you naked in an intimate situation, but to then not know what actually happened until the next day, be promised a comp night, only to end up being charged again is not okay.
I completed their hotel feedback survey and it’s my hope that they can still work to rectify and make this...
Read moreGood location, close enough to downtown. It was our anniversary and the staff surprised us with a bottle of wine, a box of chocolate and a hand written card. I mentioned in the comments that the occasion was for our anniversary but wasn’t expecting that touching detail. Room was cozy and even equipped with a fireplace which made it more romantic. There were also super soft bath robes and good quality toiletries. I wanted a lake view room but there wasn’t a room available with a lake view and a jacuzzi spa at the same time so we chose the latter. We couldn’t pair our phone to watch Netflix so cable had to be it, we just spent more time listening to music anyway. The room was peaceful but I was still able to listen to the cars, it didn’t bother me much though. The main reason I booked this location was for the nearness to the center since we had other activities planned nearby and also the jacuzzi spa, but I think after being in several jacuzzi suits we are done with this feature and prefer the ones with spas and pools amenities which this one lacks. It’s just too noisy and we are not that kind of people who will spent much time in it. Staff were super friendly and kind. The gift shop is not a gift shop (even though it says gift shop at the entrance) but a mini convenient store packed with bottle drinks, snacks, frozen meals and some over the counter medicine. I even asked one of the cleaning ladies and she didn’t know what I was talking about. Self service breakfast consists of hot waffles, fresh fruit, pastries, toast, fresh coffee etc. it’s included with your room. The other thing I liked about this place was the checkout is at noon not at 11 like most hotels. That extra hour made a difference for us. Overall great experience but I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic getaway but more for a business trip or a quick stop. The hotel environment is nice and pretty. Parking available for an extra fee. Not restaurants or bar onsite but there’s plenty of them super close by. There’s also a well equipped gym available. No pool or spa. Staff seems pretty cool about kids. I wouldn’t say is super kid friendly but is laidback enough...
