Stayed in the modern apartments for one year. We left when they raised rents, despite prices in the neighborhood dropping.
Pros: responsive, personable and professional staff on both admin and facilities good groundskeeping & enjoyable courtyard nice ambience overall and apartments were in good condition
Cons: overpriced compared with comparable square footage 'luxury' apartments in the same neighborhood. Seriously, look around. the water billing methodology is fraudulent. You are billed not on your actual usage, but on an average for the building. I recorded our meter readings over the course of 6 months, with an average monthly consumption of 320 gallons for two people. Our bill upon departure was for an average monthly consumption of 868 gallons. This is 2.7X what we actually consumed. Not a big deal, until you're stuck with a $400 water bill deducted from your security deposit upon move-out. they will raise rents on you regardless of market value. Prices were dropping for luxury apartments of equivalent square footage, but Blanton Turner raised prices regardless. insufficient storage space for a 'luxury' apartment building. One closet is not enough for anyone. 5a. lack of AC and lots of windows mean you'll bake in a greenhouse in the summer unless you have reserved an AC unit, but they don't have enough to meet demand so get on the list early 5b. windows don't open more than 4 inches so you will get no fresh air when you need it most. parking is obviously a pain in this area. They'll rent a space to you...
Read moreThe on-site staff has been the cornerstone of our experience at the Belroy. From day one, Jake, Bill, Ernie, and the Belroy team have gone above and beyond to ensure that every resident feels valued and heard. Whether it's swiftly addressing maintenance concerns (thanks, Bill!), organizing community events, or simply taking the time to greet everyone with a smile, their dedication to fostering a sense of belonging is truly commendable.
In particular, Jake’s commitment to the well-being and happiness of the residents has been unwavering. His warm and welcoming demeanor sets the tone for the entire building, creating an atmosphere that truly feels like home. Jake's genuine care for the residents transcends the typical duties of a building manager, making him an integral part of what makes this place special. It's rare to come across someone who not only excels at their job but also exudes a genuine passion for creating a thriving community.
Jake and Bill have played a significant role in why we've chosen to stay in this building for over four years. We are truly grateful for their presence and the positive impact they have had on our...
Read moreI loved living at the Belroy. I spent over two years in the Vintage apartments and loved the art deco details. I only occasionally heard my neighbors above and with the way the stairwells are, almost never heard neighbors to the side. The hot water was always super fast and hot. The location is a great blend of being walkable to Pike/Pine and the perks of Capitol Hill, while being far enough away that you're not front row to the chaos. There were some tense moments with houseless neighbors and thefts, but they were rare and the management team always were fast to make improvements/fixes.
The management team was the best I've ever experienced in almost 20 years of renting. Jake in particular needs a shoutout as they were like a combo Sorority Mom and Belroy Mascot. They were always welcoming and open in the office and seemed to know each resident on a personal basis. I am certainly missing the attentiveness and care of this team in my...
