The location and ambience was outstanding, beautiful place for an evening meal. Unfortunately they're hours even on a Friday evening prohibit a late meal. The appys where great, highly recommend the muscles and seafood chowder. For the main course we had the cheese burger and seared halibut, again both were excellent. Dessert however was absolutely horrendous, the cheesecake had the texture of pudding with a cup of sand in it, and was tasteless, the "smore" was better, but the Graham Cracker tasted like they'd dragged it out from the back of the cupboard from 5 yrs ago. Service was sub par, we waited at the entrance for 15 min before anyone showed, after a 20 wait for a table we were seated, it was another 10-20 min before the server showed, which because of the time ensured we'd be rushed to finish before closing. The server seamed disinterested and annoyed during the entire meal, the mains where brought out and the used plates from our apps were not cleared, we had to get their attention and specifically request they be removed to enjoy the mains without being crowded with used dishes. They continously reminded us it was "last call" and brought the cheque before we had even started to sample the horrendous desserts. We felt very rushed and the server gave off a get the hell out of here vibe. At no point did they ask us how are meal was, and without asking if we'd finished with the coffee press, removed it. Being our first meal in Seattle I sincerely hope it's not a representation of typical...
Read moreCame here for an anniversary and did not have a good experience here. I've noticed afterwards that a lot of the negative reviews are pretty consistent with our experience here.
The service (and server by extension) were mostly non-existent. Our server only came to the table to take our order and to deliver the check. This was not great, especially considering it was a hot day and they did not fill waters. My partner was ignored by wait staff, yet they would come over when I flagged someone first or second time. My table and the table next to us were the only tables with a person of color, and we noticed that our two tables were specifically ignored, which unfortunately aligns with other reviews I've seen.
The food was just okay; got the fish and chips, which was incredibly dry. While sitting near the kitchen, we noticed another fish and chips sitting under the heat lamp for most of our time in the restaurant (luckily not ours, and I overheard another table express the same concern). My partner has a shellfish allergy, and unfortunately I got a sense that they took little care; when our food was delivered, the person stated that they fry the fries in the same oil as other fish, and that cross contamination was possible.
Overall bad experience; instead of having a happy anniversary with my partner, I instead got exposed to racial microagressions for the first time in my life. A shame I'll have to associate that with this...
Read moreThe White Swam is tucked away close to the water and can be hard to miss but it's worth a visit. Unfortunately I missed the happy hour but the place seemed very busy for the HH. The fish and chips here were pretty good but I would come for HH next time with my coworkers.
Food The fish and chips were pretty good. The fish used was rockfish and was fairly large and flat if that's how you like your fish. Batter wasn't heavy and oily but it wasn't that crispy either. My coworkers ordered the scallops and the steak. Both of them said that it was good and that they liked it!
Atmosphere Casual restaurant with plenty of tables, bar seating, and outdoor seating for the sunshine. Noise level was not bad. I would come here to hang out with my coworkers after a long day of work and just chill.
Pricing Average pricing for seafood and drinks. The food is cheaper than their next door neighbor, Dukes. Food was good and worth the prices.
Service Service was good and we were seated at the bar. Got to have some nice talks with the bartender there. The people there really care of their customers from my impression. My coworker only visits Seattle a couple times a year but the server remember her from almost half a year ago!
Other There is a parking lot in the area but you have to pay for it and I don't believe it can be validated. The views are stunning though since you can see Lake Union and the Space Needle right in...
