Originally, we had planned to hop off our Norwegian cruise and spend a day seeing some of the local sights around Seattle before heading home. Unfortunately, thanks to crowds of unmasked ppl on our journey, we arrived sick off the ship and just headed for the hotel around 10 am, hoping we might be able to snag the first room that became available so we could rest. We were initially told it was unlikely because quite a few of the housekeeping staff had not shown up to work, and it would take them some time to get the rooms all ready. OK, no biggie, I get it - things happen. We leave our luggage in their storage room and go to get lunch and take a walk around. We arrive back shortly before 3 pm (which my reservation said was the check-in time), with a significantly larger group of people, all trying to check in. We wait in the long line only to find the room is still not available. We are not told how or if we will be notified the room is available. We wait again.||At a certain point, an elderly gentleman and his traveling companion decide to voice the frustrations felt by all of us waiting in the lobby for their rooms to be ready. His histrionics get him a room tout de suite. He doesn't bother to try and get the rest of us in on the action, but hey -- that's not his problem, right? We wait again.||Around 20 to 4, my husband decides to go stand in line again (a much longer line this time, going out the door). We are all getting a bit fed up by this point -- we have been waiting to get a room for nearly six hours, sick with two bored kids in tow. No one seems to care. While hubby waits in the line, I begin to realize the quickly filling lobby is populated mostly by Taylor Swift fans preparing to attend her concert in town this evening. A brunette in a sparkly black dress decides to cut in front of everyone in the burgeoning line and follow up on her previous request to check in, seemingly not caring that a lot of us in the line are in her same position and have been waiting for a room too. She has gotten to chatting with a family of three who tried to check in around 3 pm, and discovered that they are fellow Taylor Swift fans, so she gets them checked in before her, completely disrespecting everyone else waiting in the line. Even worse, the guy at the front desk (who I have to assume is the manager based on his attire) allows this behavior and checks them in. Sparkle chick rushes off to her group of Swifties and brandishes her newly-won room card, not giving a flying fig that we've been sitting there much longer than her and her friends.||Hope the concert was worth your crass behavior, Sparkle Chick.||Not only were rooms not ready at check-in time; multiple people who arrived after we did were allowed to get access to their rooms before us. ||I am absolutely appalled at this. There was no system to track who had checked in when, to notify guests when their room was ready, or to help guests or offer them services while they waited. There was clearly no contingency plan in place to account for a mass absence of housekeeping staff. There was such little empathy or consideration for the amount of money we all pay for these hotel rooms, and the kind of service we expect from a hotel like this rather than a cheap motel. Staybridge is clearly a very disorganized, presumptuous, inconsiderate and badly managed establishment and I will never, ever, in my life, stay at a Staybridge facility again. Anywhere in the world. ||Well done, guys.||PS - Hey Taylor Swift, are these the kind of people...
Read moreI had to stay at the Staybridge in downtown Seattle for a business trip and overall, I'd have to say it was a below average experience.
Upon arriving, after a long day of travel I came in out of the rain and just wanted to be checked in so I could relax in my room. There was a gentleman in front of me in line but there was another employee standing at the other computer, seemingly not doing anything. He asked if I was coming to check in, I said yes and stepped up to his computer, then he told me that his computer wasn't working so I'd have to wait until the other guy was finished, which took an additional 15 mins or so, kind of annoying but whatever.
The room I stayed in was pretty small compared to other hotels with similar price ranges, the room had everything it needed (kitchenware, plates and silverware, a small stove) so it wasn't much of an issue, everything was very compact, but my initial reaction when I first got in was, "Man, this is a small room."
The thing that was especially irritating was there were three pumps in the shower, one for shampoo, conditioner and body wash, which is normal for a hotel and most of the time, these suffice, so you don't have to bring your own. Not in this case. The body wash was completely watered down. When you pumped the body wash nothing but cold water squirted out. This was especially irritating because there was a lock on these so it meant that at some point a hotel employee had to of done this, im guessing in an effort to save the hotel money.
They also told me that if I wanted my room cleaned that I would have to schedule it 24 hours in advance, which I thought was odd. Most hotels I've been to I see housekeeping cleaning the rooms diligently, at Staybridge I only saw 1 housekeeping lady, 1 day out of the whole week I was there and it wasn't even on my floor. I guess the housekeeping people are scheduled for an as-needed basis and not everyday?
The breakfast in the mornings had a very small selection, they had the same thing every morning, sausage links, eggs and potatoes. No variety and bland. The first day I was there, when I went to grab a plate, the cook stopped me and asked if I was staying at the Even or the Staybridge, I told her the Staybridge and after a short interrogation, she let me proceed to the very sub-par, disappointing breakfast. This hotel shares the building with another hotel, The Even, I guess if you are unlucky enough to stay on that side, you don't get access to the breakfast. Consider this a blessing.
Everything about this Hotel gave me the impression that it would favor cutting costs at the expense of the patrons having a positive, comfortable experience. I would not stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There are other better alternatives in close proximity.
The location was the only redeeming factor, very close to all of the main Seattle attractions. Unfortunately, this didn't outweigh all of the...
Read moreI gave this hotel one star because I couldn't give it zero stars. I got a note saying to check the amenities and information about the hotel, but when I went to the site it would not let me in saying to check back later. It never did let me get the information. When we got to the hotel and followed the signs for parking there was a sign that said to park in the alley and go to the front desk to get your room key for access. There was no room in the alley to park so we drove a half a block to find a place to leave our car before checking in. I guess this information would have been in their note about the amenities which I couldn’t get into. We got our key and parked the car. After unloading our luggage we could not find a way to get to the hotel entrance. We were locked in the garage and we looked everywhere for an exit but there wasn’t one anywhere. Finally a car was leaving and the car exit opened so we could get out and get into the hotel. We asked about where the elevator was to our car and was told that wasn’t one for the floor that we had parked in. We were told to walk down the car ramp when we wanted to leave. The hotel key did not let us in to the parking garage but again we were saved by a car leaving so we could get in to the garage. To call our room a suite is false advertising. It was one of the smallest rooms we have ever stayed in in Seattle. In our room there was no sign to locate the ice machine and there was no ice bucket either. The front desk told us where the ice machine was but there were no ice buckets there either. There were no luggage racks in the room so we called to have a couple sent. We waited for about an hour but still no luggage racks so we left the hotel and in the elevator a maintenance man told us that the hotel did not have luggage racks. Why the front desk clerk failed to mention this is a mystery. When we went to bed there was only a very light blanket that did not provide any warmth. We looked for a duvet or another blanket without success. There were a couple of extra pillows making a total of six in the room. WOW! The coffee machine carafe was broken and there were no paper cups to take away coffee after we checked out. Breakfast was not great and we left without it. We will never stay at this...
