The facility itself has a lot of nice finishes and has the potential to be an exceptional hotel. As with any facility, there were pros and cons. I'll start with the pros.
The bathroom in our room was especially spacious and had high quality fixtures, which was an appreciated departure from the other hotels we had stayed at during our large circle of northern CA. They had even gone to the trouble of using a one piece tub/surround to keep maintenance low. The shower also had built in shampoo, conditioner, and body wash containers with the brand we use at home, Paul Mitchell Lemon Sage, which was a nice surprise. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable. Parking was plentiful with plenty of access points to the building.
There were unfortunately also some cons. Upon check-in to the hotel we inquired with the front desk staff about recommended food options for the area. While we did get some decent recommendations, there was an unexpectedly high level of unprovoked wine snob pretentiousness that exuded from the front desk staff that left us trying to back away without saying anything further. In the bathroom, the shower head was level with my eyeballs, and I'm only 6'-0", so I had to bend over to get my head wet. The built in body wash dispenser pump was broken. The water pressure was extremely low. The wallpaper above the tub surround was also peeling in spots. These all combined to make the shower experience less than great. When we went down for breakfast in the morning, there were no staff available, and thus no food available due to the continued COVID adaptations to how breakfast was served. We were successful at obtaining food on our second attempt about 15 minutes later. While somewhat limited, the food choices were mostly on par with many other hotels in the area.
The final thing to mention was the high cost. This was our most expensive hotel night on our 9-day trip by about 50%. I attribute most of this to the fact that it was the 4th of July weekend and hotel rooms were in short supply, so likely just supply and demand. I don't know enough about the area to attribute it to location. When we checked out we went into Sebastopol to look around and stopped at The Barlow. This seemed like a chic shopping area that could be cool if you had time to wander. It also had a large pile of human feces on the sidewalk, so the homeless population is active in...
Read moreThis Employee’s really go out of their way to accommodate you. Special shout out to Iman the front desk guy who is extremely friendly and helpful. I came with my 90 year old Aunt & 80 year old dad and Iman made sure they had adjoining rooms & made sure my Auntie had a room with just a walk in shower so she didn’t have to worry about slipping. Iman also helped us by changing our reservation when we had an emergency. Jenna the front desk person also went over & above in helping us trying to figure out our broken TV while also tending to the front desk. Blanca in Housekeeping also was extremely helpful & nice. She kept and our room nice & clean, & made a beautiful flower design on our toilet paper roll & also made cute flower designs on our face washcloths. They were so pretty we just admired them. Our room required extra cleaning and Blanca in housekeeping had no problem doing it and was super friendly. We will definitely stay here over & over. We also talked to the Manager & she was very nice too. Also the free breakfast buffet is awesome. The cheese omelettes are delicious as was the country potatoes. They had Activa yogurt and chobani yogurt too. The people that prepare the breakfast are also very nice. It was close to closing the breakfast buffet, but they still pulled out more fresh sausage & eggs even though it was almost closing time. We even stayed after closing time & they did not rush us out. We will definitely be staying here again. We were here for a sad reason as our trip was to visit our Uncle who had just entered hospice, but the employees at the this Marriott were a bright spot in our trip and made it as pleasant and possible for us. So thank you, we...
Read moreFirst off, I am an Elite member which the young man failed to acknowledge at all. We checked in at 4pm, which is the stated check in time. I asked for a room closer to the doors than had been pre-assigned as I had a large amount of luggage and the room location was very close to the farthest from any door or elevator. He then tried to downgrade me to a smaller room. When I pointed out it was a smaller room, he stated a flat lie, "They are all the same size." Then he stated he could move me but the other rooms of a comparable size weren't clean yet. I then asked him if I could wait for one closer to a door and to give me an estimated time of readiness and he stated, "I don't know, it could be 5 or 6 before they finish." I wasn't willing to wait one to two hours for a closer room so I took the one pre-assigned. When we got to the room we discovered that three of the TV channels weren't coming in , NBC, The Discovery Channel and TNT. I called down and later got a call back that LodgeNet had reset the system, but still no transmission on those three channels. I was told that I would simply have to wait until the next day when a hotel technician could fix the system. The next day it was fixed. The room, upon checking in had only two rolls of toilet paper about 1/3 on each roll. Again, I had to ask for more toilet paper. Also, there was mold in the corners of the soap holder and in one corner of the bathtub which gave an appearance of the room not being clean. Apparently also the A/C doesn't work between 1 am and 5 am as ours turned off at the time and the room got fairly warm. With all of these factors, I won't stay here...
