Having many good experiences of the quality of various marques of the Choice Hotels Group, a three night stop at this hotel at the beginning of a three plus week trip to the United States was booked from Scotland, UK on the basis of its description on the Choice Hotels website, which included a statement that it was newly decorated. What was actually experienced, however, were two extremes!
On the down side, firstly, a corridor between the lobby and the dormitory part of the hotel was closed when we arrived as work appeared to ongoing on that corridor. This posed no problem for us but, when the corridor re-opened on the third day of our stay, I could see no fresh work.
Secondly, my wife, daughter and I were allocated Room 107, which, on the face of things, was sizeable, well appointed and comfortable - until one looked at the ceiling, which looked like military camouflage given the patches of various hues of off-white, grey and beige and which I photographed and the doors, from which the reasonably fresh but careless applied paint was peeling.
Thirdly, over the three days of our stay, the in-room air conditioning/heating proved inadequate and the furniture and bed covering and linen became noticeably damp - how damp we didn't really appreciate until we moved to our next stop, the Quality Inn in Mystic, CN, which was extremely good.
Fourthly, the hotel's pool was out of use, given the time of year, but it was uncovered, full of dark, obviously stagnant water and leaves and was unsightly.
There were more adverse points but, other than observing that while some recent maintenance work was obvious - the carpets and wall coverings looked fresh, as did the outside of the buildings - some of the internal painter work left much to be desired and had the appearance of having been done by a well meaning but not very skilled DIY amateur.
On the positive side, however, an excellent breakfast with good choice and quality products was available in a clean, well-appointed and ambient breakfast room.
Other than at check=in and at check-out, my only contact with the hotel staff was with the cheerful and polite ladies who managed the breakfast room and there was a different one each day.
I'm afraid I didn't have the heart to face the lady on the front desk at check-out with my criticisms nor did I ask to speak to a manager. On reflection, I probably should have.
However, someone with a supervisory role needs to address the situation at this Comfort Inn as a matter of urgency and those responsible for advertising it need to address that point - the current description of this establishment, on the Choice Hotels and other agency websites, is NOT accurate and, in fact, is extremely misleading. Indeed, it is probably currently unlawful.
Also, as it currently is, the hotel is grossly overpriced. Although my three nights were paid for with Choice Hotels points accrued from previous US travels, the hotel's advertised nightly rates are certainly comparable with nearby premises, including a Clarion Inn, but its condition is not.
I regret having to raise the above issues here but I don't apologise for so doing - they need to be addressed. I am willing to discuss what I have written and the condition in which I experienced this Comfort Inn with anyone who wishes to make contact with me - my email address and mobile telephone numbers can be found in my Choice Hotels account profile.

Read moreThis is not a 5 star hotel. I was just hoping it would get you're ATTENTION i'm a strong believer and be an honest they. They DOUBLE BOOK, by keeping your deposit and then renting the room to somebody else. And how they did this was me. My fiancé was there for 3 days. We gave a $100 cash. We was there a week before for a day And we went back because it did seem like the staff. Were really good people and the first time. I did let some things slide. They put me on the 1st floor where their pets are and I found a flea on me. No word of a lie a flea. Obviously, I could not get a picture of it because if anybody knows those little suckers. Are fast? I have pictures of dirty curtains. I mean, dirty curtains. I did tell the manager about what happened? And it gives a discount. They give us a discount but come to find out.If a hotel has a flea they are not supposed to be up and running,But my fiancée said let's give them another try. The room was decent on the 2nd floor well, so we went to book another night for the fourth night and they said that they had no more rooms when they said that they threatened to call the cops if we didn't. Pack up in 15 minuteso we did. I went downstairs and I said. You guys just want to keep my $100. PJ literally said yes PJ. Said yes, so I call the cops and unfortunately. The cops felt really, really bad and they couldn't do anything about it and there was a civil matter, and let's just say that she started by meet over sleepaying. And when I told the police that they said that's not unusual things like that happen. The $25 to stay into 130 until I paid for the room. so that's how they get you, but for somebody to go through that and the general manager coming to my room, telling us that there is no other king size when there was. And then keeping our money and then come to find Out There was plenty of rooms. I can't stress enough that you might see a lot of positive reviews because when people get put in good rooms. But you get one flea on you. It's a not or your dog or Kitty cat. Let's just say it's one of those hotels that don't care. Nothing about you and care about their money. I can say a lot more about being overcharged the week before, but I think I've said enough. Shoot, go down to Motel 6. It's better than quality in. I ended up filing a formal complete with the...
