When we arrived, there was a Jaguar car parked under the awning all four days we were there. It made dropping off and picking up there awkward as the awning only had space for two cars. Also, part of the pillar looked like it had been crashed into but didn’t look like it was under construction to be fixed.
When we got to our room, we had to inform the front desk immediately there was a good size scratch on the TV. While it didn’t affect watching the TV, I did not want to be charged for it. The front desk staff were completely shocked. Looking at the scratch, it looked like it had been there awhile. We attempted to use the TV. It was hard not having at least a list of which channels were which. To make things worse, the remote worked maybe 25% of the time, and it wasn’t due to dying batteries.
All of the outlets were covered or had the lights plugged into them. Then all of the outlets attached to the lights didn’t work right. We had to pull some of them out of the socket some just to wiggle and get them to work. If two people were to stay in the room and one has a CPap machine, someone’s phone will be charging far from them as there were only two outlets by the bed - also neither one worked consistently.
The sink in the bathroom drained sooooo slow. The bathtub was about the same. While the plug did turn to make a bath (which was needed for my 2 year olds), taking a shower was almost impossible. The plug won’t stay open well to drain, so it filled up the tub as the shower was being taken. When you pull the plug up for the shower, you can pull it up as far as it will go, but half of the water will still go out the spicket and the other half goes to the shower head. This meant no water pressure.
The only thing reset in the room every day were the towels. While this would not usually bother me, due to two 2 year olds who snacked in the room, there were crumbs all over the bedding and sheets. Also, wet spots from leaking water bottles. After the second night, I asked the front desk if they reset the whole room or just part of the room (knowing it was not reset or restocked the prior night). They said they reset the whole room. We left before 9 and when we returned mid-afternoon (around 3), the only thing reset were the towels - no coffee supplies, no bedding, nothing else. I went to the desk to tell them we needed new bedding. They told me housekeeping had gone for the day, but they could give me the supplies to do it myself. When they gave us the supplies, not everything we needed was there.
I was also disappointed that the pillows were half size. This made sleeping with two pillows a necessary.
While the breakfast was okay, it needed a second waffle maker. The first morning, the breakfast area was backed, and we waited over 20 minutes just to make them. Also, there was clearly not enough seating for everyone. We couldn’t find a clean table to seat just four people. The breakfast food did stay stocked.
I was grateful that online said the pool was closed, I don’t see why the pool would be closed. It also didn’t have a sign on the door stating it was closed.
The hotel was quiet, and the beds were okay.
When I have gone down to see family, I have stayed at all three hotels off of this exit. While this is not the worse one, I would not recommend it...
Read moreMy husband & I stayed at the Quality Inn hotel in Sellersburg, IN on July 20th for 1 night. We made the reservation by calling the 800 # & told them 2-3 times we were traveling with 2 small dogs. They assured us that information was in the notes & quoted us a charge of $99+ tax ($108.74). We booked the reservation.
Upon arrival, my husband went in to check-in, then we parked & entered the hotel. We were immediately "greeted" with, "Those dogs cannot be in here & you cannot use the use the elevator!" Welcome to Choice Hotels, right? Keep in mind, this was about 2a, so we politely got out of the elevator & asked what the he wanted us to do. The front desk gentleman informed us he would have to move us to a 1st floor room by the door & that we would now have to pay $33 additional.
We informed him that while making the reservation, we were quite clear that the dogs were with us & we were not told about an additional fee & I informed him that we would not authorize that to be credited to our credit card. We went on to our new room, spent about 6 hours in there sleeping, then went on our way.
Once I got home, I saw that I was charged an additional $33.30 so I called the hotel directly today & spoke with Mahish. He could not have been more rude. He accused me of trying to hide the fact that we had dogs & that we tried to sneak them in. [That is why we would walk through the front door with them...sneaky, huh?]. He then told me how they had to clean the room & remove this & that to clean it...I have NO idea what he was referring to. My dogs did NOTHING to this room, absolutely NOTHING. We never left them alone in there as is our personal policy, we even went to grab breakfast separately & came back to the room to eat. That is how conscientious we are.
I am in Customer Experience & run an engagement center & sales team. I would fire someone for treating a guest in that manner. He should be ashamed. If those notes were not relayed by the 800# agent, that is not my problem nor my fault. We were VERY honest & VERY tired.
I offered Mahish the opportunity to reverse those charges & I would move on. He refused. So, I contacted Customer Relations with the hope they would see the truth here. I also never received a receipt after repeatedly providing our email address...horrible customer service...just horrible.
At that point, I would never stay in a Choice Hotel, but because it is my line of business, I wanted to provide them the opportunity to do what is right. To date, I have never heard from...
Read moreMy two teenagers and I recently stayed here due to a water main break in our neighborhood that had our water off for a few days. We made the reservation through the Choice Hotels website and check in was uncomplicated and friendly when we arrived. The location of the hotel is pretty ideal for travelers due to being situated very close to the Sellersburg exit off of Highway 65 in Southern Indiana. The parking is ample and the lot is well lite at night. Most of the employees we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. With that being said, we discovered that the indoor pool is closed from October to March yearly. There is no mention of that during the reservation process, nor when you check in. My son was very disappointed and I was not allowed to cancel our reservation to go to a different hotel with an indoor pool that the kids could actually use. I was told that there was nothing they could do and that I would be charged for the full amount of I cancelled the room at that point. So, we were pretty much stuck. The person at the desk was the manager, so there was no one else with whom to address this matter. Also, I asked about the onsite laundry options and was pointed to the one washer and one dryer they have on the 2nd floor. So, after putting in a load of clothes, I started the washing machine and it would only fill and drain (cold water only). There was no agitation to the cycles at all. So, the clothes still had soap and fabric softener on them when it was done. Luckily there was a 24 hour laundromat near by. I reported the washing machine to the lady at the front desk and she didn't offer to give me my money back ($2.50), nor did she put an out of order sign in the machine to keep other guests from losing their money as well. So, I made a sign "Out of Order" and placed it on the machine. The sign was removed by someone afterwards. I typically don't take this much time when reviewing a hotel, but there were several cleanliness issues here and unsafe practices (exposed wiring, debris and caked on dirt on ice machine dispenser, and stink bugs in random locations throughout the building and rooms). My chief complaint, however, was with the bedding and various dried on mystery stains that were on the headboards of the bed and on the mattresses/walls by the beds. Clearly the stains had been there for quite some time and visibly, there hadn't been an attempt to clean them off. So, we were left to avoid the beds altogether. Thank goodness we had our home to return to...
