Usually the best restaurant around. Usually good consistent service and food. We were not happy with the Coca Cola fudge cake We ate Friday. We Went Friday evening after the dinner rush for our Coca Cola fudge cake fix. The Fudge cake wasn't the regular consistency and quality. We have had it twice before. We got a dried looking pc of barely warm brownie looking dessert with a scoop of ice cream on the side. We let our server know and she was pleasant although said that it was prepared by such 'n such. We ate it and left. Cashiers seem confused and not on point. Maybe it was late and they were tired. They were focused on each other, other staff and not looking up at the customers, who were standing around waiting. I found something to buy on the way out and went back to pay and then changed my mind. Cashiers were not looking up at the customers and a few customers not lined up as usual were seeking their attention. I put the merchandise back and left. Update: went today (Saturday) for late lunch. We got right in. The place was only half full of patrons. Our server Brianna was excellent; posed, knowledgeable, and professional. I tipped her 30%. I gave her $5.89 tip. One of the best servers I have ever encountered. Kudos to her. The meatloaf, mashed potatoes, brown gravy and dumplins were all good and satisfying. We enjoyed our meal. Five stars for Brianna. Who was super. Update: went for late Sunday lunch. Chicken fried chicken was good. A good size flattened boneless chicken breast breaded and fried. It looked like a piece of fish. I opted for no gravy as their white saw mill gravy tastes strange and is very unappealing to me. All three of my sides were good. Dumplins, mashed potatoes with roast gravy and carrots. The chocolate cola brownie ala mode was not as good as it used to be. Yes, I tried it again. Not enough Ice cream and the brownie is definitely missing the pizzazz it used to have. Nothing special. This time the Sweet tea was mixed with unsweetened tea so I never got a good glass of sweet tea. The shift manager said they started measuring the sugar. My companion’s meat loaf came out cold twice. The Third time they microwaved her food and it burned her mouth and ruined the texture of the mashed potatoes. She only complained the meatloaf was cold. Three different plates of meat loaf ruined. She talked to the manager at our exit and they “comped” her meal. Not every time can be on point. I don’t care for their corn bread or biscuits as they are not special. Dumplins are good, reminds me of my grandmother’s. Update: our go to place every two to three weeks. We enjoy the quality of food, service and pleasant atmosphere. Update: went for early lunch on Sunday. We’re lucky today, no wait. Chicken n dumplings with carrots and cabbage were good. Good brewed sweet tea. Service on point. Atmosphere pleasant.
update: very good. our server was on-point. Good quality food at reasonable prices. clean and pleasant atmosphere.
update: best eggs!! best egg sandwich with hash browns was delicious. fresh eggs. yum yum. enjoyable breakfast. sometimes there is a wait and sometimes there is not.

Read moreCracker Barrel is one of our favorite places to eat. My kids absolutely love this place. I’m writing this review, not really angry, but more out of continued surprise how the dine out experience has eroded seemingly everywhere. So prices are up at Cracker Barrel, at least 8% or so. But what really shocked me is how far down the food quality has gone. Does not seem like a winning company strategy, increase prices AND decrease quality, but that is what a lot of restaurants seem to be doing. So back to our Cracker Barrel experience, we arrived at 5pm and had to wait a little while for a table. Not a big deal, I expected it was because of a full restaurant. During our wait, we witnessed a manager type get into a shouting match with a door dash driver. A little odd, as it did seem he had been waiting for quite some time. Nice touch for the kids to witness that. Tis the season. You would think the restaurant would be a little apologetic. So when when we were finally taken to our table, the place was half full at best. So it seems like it was staffing shortage (but there seemed to be waitresses/waiters and management type folks everywhere?). So then it seems to go to being a training issue. The big fire place was going…really, really going. It felt like a very uncomfortable 100 degrees in there. I’ve been to a Cracker Barrel in winter many times, I’ve never experienced anything like the Dante’s Inferno I experienced with their fireplace tonight. Again seems like a training issue. So the waitress takes our order and the food came fairly quickly, only problem was she forgot to put in a good portion of our order. As an added bonus the food that arrived was mostly cold AND mostly tasteless. I’ve never eaten at a Cracker Barrel and not really enjoyed their food. But the dumplings were undercooked, cold and doughy. The cornbread was not how it usually is, it was cold and tasted just awful. The pancakes and sausage were the norm, delicious. But most of the food just didn’t taste good. I eventually had to take our 3 yo out to the car and let my wife and other kids wait for their missing food. It finally came. So they didn’t take the forgotten food off our final bill or subtract anything. Again, most restaurants used to do that. We didn’t ask or make a fuss. Oh and they charge extra for apple butter now. So just an overall pretty awful dine out experience for more expensive food with less then expected quality. Lots of workers in there but everybody seeming a little frantic, stressed and definitely no smiles. Again, seems like a training issue. Still tipped 20%. No need to take it out on the servers. It just really seems Cracker Barrel is going downhill. We won’t be going back for some time. Too expensive for a...
Read moreDined in for evening meal on January 14th 2025 Alyssa C was probably one of the most friendly and attentive servers that I have had in this facility. Other than having a little bit of plastic in my mashed potatoes I'm not really sure quite what it was the experience was on point!! My friend said that the meatloaf was really good! He said he had to write her on a scale of 1 to 10 that she would definitely get a 9.5!
The manager Angela came by and did a table touch and was so friendly and kind she always is very helpful friendly and goes out of her way for her team when she works! WE will definitely return! On a business side note asking for a friend? Although honestly I do not understand the concept of changing the decor in the restaurant why would you spend millions of dollars on renovation for something that isn't broke have you ever heard the term if it ain't broke don't fix it well I think the CEO needs to get her head examined honestly she's making a lot of poor choices for The Barrel! Why would you not invest $3 million into livable wages a server makes 213 an hour and barely gets by and has to do the job of several people my question to her is why are you making bad business decisions and how long do you actually want to work in cracker barrel as the CEO? First it's make employees cook their own baked potatoes add alcohol to a family establishment which requires liquor licenses and more stress on the server? Cracker barrel is slowly diminishing its reputation one biscuit at a time I will tell you that honestly the prices in the cracker barrel are like going to the grocery store if you want to eat there you basically have to split a meal I was appalled when I saw the fancy new menus and then the price tag beside a simple meal!
Cracker Barrel you should be ashamed of yourself and the CEO you need to...
